The Past Week in Congress

Day 1,930, 10:48 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Sir Ethan William Woodhouse

As a Congressman I would like to let you know what's going on in the country. During this past week there were four proposals:

The first on was the
VAT & Import Taxes: Food- Proposed by Massacar, 6 days ago:

Taxes New Old
Value added tax (VAT) 5% 7%
Import Tax 75% 75%

I voted yes to this bill, feeling that you guys could use a tax break.
This was rejected 27(no) - 10(yes).

The second proposed bill was an alliance bill proposed by the president. This would create a mutual protection pact with Slovenia.
I voted yes. This won 37-0

Bill 3: The President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
Once again, I voted yes and this won 36-1.

The last bill was a President Impeachment bill. I did not vote on this due to the fact that I was not a citizen of erepublik when he had started office and felt my vote vote be invalid. This proposal was rejected 25(yes) to 13(no). Although I do not know the exact reason for the proposal of this bill, I believe it had something to do with the fact that the current president is not as active as needed. Even so, if the bill did pass it really wouldn't have mattered with the voting of the new CP in just 2 days.
For example, one congress official said "I have nothing against Rich but if hes only half active I'd rather have someone with a bit more free time have the buttons". Another official who voted no said "I don't hide that I voted NO....... but I don't think that Richard needs to be removed. Yes, Real life is more important than erepublik, but after talking with him, he didn't request to be impeached. if it happened : OK, if not : No stress. Remove him at 3 days of the end of the term, when he made nothing wrong, when there is no war to manage, no MPP to renew is quite unfair and also humiliating when it comes from his own PP." Well whatever the reason, the proposal was rejected and the current CP can stay in office for his final 2 days.

Well there you have it folks. This was a look back into the past week in Congress. Thank you for reading and come back next week for another look into Congress.
