The Grand EZC Blindside.
Aoi the Fish
This morning, when I woke up from my sleep to begin preparing for school (I had a Final today, another coming on Monday, and a Mid-term on Wednesday), I logged in to eRepublik to find I had a new message. I checked it, not intending to spend very long at all on it. This was what I read.
At first, I thought "Okay, I don't have time to think on this now; I'll worry about it when I get home." I then found the fifteen-minute drive to school plagued by thoughts of what it might mean for me as a dedicated Federalist, and a devoted EZC member, that we now had this separation. Though it looks as though we've been promised no change via this declaration of independence from the Federalist Party, I've also seen we're going to be losing some influential, and powerful, members. Duncan Crowe has already made it public that he won't be staying.
At the same time, I have seen a bit of the argument from the other side. Gnilraps gave his point of view, posting I would assume in lieu of Deepchill, who hasn't said much, if anything, more than what was said in the PM. As for Fingerguns, she seems to take more of a neutral-to-positive stance on the split, but I would expect as much from such a public official, having recently served as Country President, and the current leader of the Federalist Party.
When I read through everything, I really don't know what to make of it.
I am used to not being informed of things before they're happening; it happened to me recently with a cabinet position the Federalist Party, where Gnilraps removed me from my position without inquiring at all as to my activity, and then when I explained mere hours later that I was still much more active than he had previously believed, he claimed to believe me, and yet still removed me at the end of the day.
Does that mean I like not being consulted, or at the very least informed a few days before we split? No, it does not.
All in all, I am pretty turned off by the fact that we split without any real just cause (No, I don't consider the fact that we didn't get to recruit some people, simply because of our political affiliation to be justified), or that the members were not consulted or informed before it happened; we were told after it was made official that we were splitting. I don't like that the EZC Command didn't even talk with the Federalist Party Leadership before this whole thing happened. I don't feel like any of this has been handled in an appropriate manner.
Like Fingerguns, I find it a bit amusing that Gnil seemed to be pulling for closeness between Party and MU last month when he was Party President, only to support the entire split between them this month. I also find it a bit amusing that we're removing our entire presence from the Federalist Forum, with nowhere to go. No link or talks have been given about what we're moving TO. This all seems too sloppy.
In the end, I suppose I'll stick around in EZC until a more appealing option has been offered to me. I don't much like the idea of simply leaving over this, because that would be responding hastily to something I feel was handled wrong, which would also be wrong.
I know I'll stick around in the Federalist Party. I feel more attached to the Party than the MU, and the Party will always be my #1 in-game priority.

well written.

"This all seems too sloppy."
There is a good reason in the fact that EZC has struggled with recruitment somewhat of players in other Unity parties. I believe this was handled wrong though. I'm glad to see you stay though.
"because that would be responding hastily to something I feel was handled wrong, which would also be wrong."
I don't know you, but what you said there is pretty wise. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.
Also thought this. good choices bro.
This is reasonable. I do still hope that you'll be able to stay with us long-term, but if you decide not to, there's obviously no hard feelings.
Much appreciated, BigC. I have never been one to make a harsh move without true provocation. I don't intend to start now. It would take quite an offer to get me to move from the MU, so I will probably end up staying, until my presence is no longer desired. However, this whole thing has left me pretty dazed and confused, as stated above.
when EZC bleeds you dry, then you are no longer desired. Happened before, to those that remember -.- quite offten too... shame
Voted. It's weird.
I am with you brother and have stated my feelings on the matter. But as someone else mentioned "You can be both Proud and horny and still scream Currahee! "
I wonder now why EZC command didn't bother to ease into this. Admittedly the decision was made. Maybe they wanted to shake out opposition. It will be interesting to see if new folks can rise up or if control of EZC is permanent within this clique.
Personally, I don't think that making a drastic change like this one prevents opposition. Rather, people who are opposed, were forced into this switch might rise up harder. It's not a large investment for a paper in the game, and all it would take would be one or two largely upset people to make this transition much less smooth than it could be.
Somewhere they said that telling their members would start an unnecessary shitstorm (I can find the quote if challenged) which i thought was odd, ultimately most people don't disagree with the move and imo if they had just told everyone (their members, party leadership) in advance this would have been a fairly graceful transition, unfortunately what they did was the opposite of graceful. I have complete respect for EZC Leadership, but yeah this shouldn't have happened quite the way it did. At all.
This is a damn fine response to the drama that is politics.
Everyone has to vent I guess, some in public.
Just wait until your command dumps on you. Never happen?

Meanwhile, Cubby gears up his recruitment efforts to poach disenchanted feds/ezcompany-ers to uswp/st6...
Eh, I'd rather have members that wouldn't leave over something like this. But yeah, if there's a D4 20k hitter that wants a home, ST6 is recruiting. Meanwhile, I think extremely highly of EZC and encourage members to stick with a very fine MU that is sure to get better!

PROFHTHS Maybe if you start consider of getting rid of useless zombies like binda, then real TANKS could join your great MU!
While this schism is certainly understandable given recent events compared with growth potential this seems likely to ultimately benefit both EZC and the Feds by permitting them to develop separately by cutting the proverbial umbilical cord at this juncture.
Perhaps subsequent fed PP's will be able to Improve relations with EZC in the months to come... From my outside perspective at this point this separation seems appropriate given that Mil Units and Political Parties have vastly different objectives within modern eRepublik.
Good article.
I was rather shocked to see this in my inbox this morning as well. I really don't devote enough time to the game anymore (other than getting in my 50 or so kills per day) to really complain though. I will stay with the Feds (with whom I have been affiliated for nearly 4 years now) and if that means leaving EZC or being restricted then that's what I will do. (I don't foresee that happening though as I saw nothing to indicate that this move would result in an either/or situation -- I just found it convenient to have all my activities bundled via the Feds).
Indeed, they assure us we won't be forced to leave, and still encourage participation in the Federalist Party. Overall, things are /supposed to/ remain the same.
Not only is staying with the Feds acceptable, I would personally encourage it. We are in no way saying that we are at odds with the Federalist Party, we are instead saying That the party and MU will no longer be specifically connected.
all Im gonna say is Gnil did it again 😣
You're a fine one to talk Neron.
I am ? how come 😣 Harry I served my tour in EZC, it bleed me dry and I got a msg saying GTFO litteraly, from mister fantastyc himself. THEN we ( C4 ) somehow got screwed for OMS funds ( but he swore it wasnt him, etc. ) then I find out I should be Punched ( no hard feelings , eh Gnil 😣 ) . I mean, why am I even writting thease things anyway
We split, but not to establish ourselves as enemies. The Feds and EZC should remain on good terms, and joining both is still encouraged, but it's no longer expected or required in order to advance. If a wedge is driven between the two, it will be the overreacting at fault, not the independence. What's so terrible about being Fed & EZC instead of Fed/EZC? Two forums instead of one? I'm sorry that's so very inconvenient for you. I intend to remain in both, and quite proudly so.
Props for not responding by running away and being offended. It was poorly handled, but to have a reactionary response of leaving without giving any chance to make things right? That's no better.
in this game, you have little to handle. and when you handle it, per say, like morons, this is what happens
FED and EZC shared more than forums.... but thats something a grunt knows nothing about
FED/EZC charter (as in, a LEGAL document ) stated that FEDERALISTs bought the unit , in case, they OWN it. to take that away means to rob/steal.... so theres that.... and agian, thats the tip of the iceberg
