Resigning as a Serbian ambassador in Greece

Day 1,924, 02:38 Published in Serbia USA by Strahinjic Banovan

Hello to all Greek people all over the eWorld.

Most of you recognize me as Serbian ambassador in Greece. Last month I wrote two articles about our relations (the first one, and the second one).

This month I wanted to write two more articles, about introducing FYROM to eRepublik and how that had an impact on our relations, and after that, I wanted to write about political options in both countries which could and would lead us toward possible new, better, relations.

But, I didn't write them, because I had some work "on the field". I have been contacted by Serbian MoFA team to approach to the Greek one and ask about possibility of signing NAP between our countries. Negotiations about that meeting lasted, but I got an impression that both of sides can make some progress in mutual relations.

Also, I have been contacted about Cyprus, to make a report to Serbian MoFA about relations between that country and Greece. As I was told, our MoFA saw that as possible chance to improve relations with Greece as well. But, I informed Serbian MoFA team that Greece sees Cyprus as enemy country and that I wouldn't recommend signing MPP with them if they want to improve relations with Greece.

But, after yesterday, it is obvious that current Serbian government has no serious intentions of getting closer to Greece. MPP with Cyprus is proposed and it will pass in Congress due to absence of pro-Greek parties in it.

At the same time, Serbian MoFA writes an article where they talk about Cyprus in positive manner, emphasizing the fact that they made Greece as NE (natural enemy) and signed MPP with FYROM.

After this happened, I decided to quit on position of Serbian ambassador in Greece. I strongly object to official Serbian foreign policy to Greece shown in the last few days and I feel as I cannot represent the country in the right way because of that.

I will continue to fight for improving relations with Greece, but this time through Serbian political institutions and with participating in Serbian elections.

I am happy that I met many Greek players who gave me support for my work, and who also think that Greece and Serbia can be good friends in eRepublik, if not brothers, as we are in the real life. I want to wish you good luck and I hope we will meet soon, but with some better news.
