Presidential Candidate Wilhelm Rontgen speaks to Trekker

Day 4,822, 18:09 Published in USA USA by Trekker Tlumac

In a few days time the eUSA will vote in the country presidential election. It is arguably the most important of our three major elections through game mechanics. Putting the wrong person in the office of the president could be a disaster, while putting the right person in the office can foster great things for our eNation.

Here at The 506 we have a vested interest in the future of our community. We want it to be a better place. Choosing the right candidate to endorse is a big decision. One that has multiple layers of decision making going into the process. At least, that is how we view it. It is one of the most important decisions a party can make. The 506 is new to the political landscape, but we have a voice, and opinions, that we wish to be heard.

In that vein I was anxious to speak with potential candidates. I was lucky enough to snag an interview with one of the people who would have us vote them into the big chair, Wilhelm Rontgen. Earlier today Wilhelm and I were able to connect for a while and share some polite conversation.

Wilhelm Rontgen is no new kid on the block to national politics, having ascended to the office of ePOTUS for two terms, as well as having served in a number of other positions over the course of his political career at the party and national level. A long time member of Socialist Freedom Party, the man was well dressed and well maintained, the very image of an old-timey politician. It was a refreshing change to converse with someone possessing refinement about politics.

After some pleasantries, I began my line of questioning.

Trekk: Thanks for meeting with me, it is greatly appreciated. I know the life of a ePotus candidate must be quite busy, so my readers and I appreciate you taking this time to speak with me.

Wilhelm: No, no, thank you for the interview! It's my duty as a candidate to keep the community informed and to provide interviews, it's standard.

Trekk: It’s a pretty cliche line, but, as with most cliches, it bears repeating because it has a kernel of truth. eRep is in decline, it has been for years. At this point the bulk of people left are the old timers, too stubborn to leave, the bot armies that lack the mind to leave, and the truly new who stumbled in recently and are the true minority of the game.

We can joke here and say we are all rats circling the upper decks of a sinking ship.

That said, we are all here by choice.

Trekk: What keeps you logging in?

Wilhelm: I log in because this is still my favorite browser-Political simulator. Also because I have somewhat of a small legacy that I left the Socialist Freedom Party with. I left them with a Cooperative system that I want to make sure is maintained for the rest of the time this game exists for. It's not huge but it's what I am most proud of during my time playing this game.

Trekk: Hitting upon the decline of the game, what are you plans for revitalizing the eUSA?

Wilhelm: I plan to outline and then move through Congress a Cooperative System that will add a new element to the economic module of the game through the collective action of producers on our market.

I'm also going to put together a community wide legislative body through Group Messages, legislation will come directly from this body and be presented to congress for final debate and vote. Every person in the body will have one vote and anyone who is a eUS Citizen will be able to join it. Congress will also retain all of its powers.

I also want to begin healing the long standing divisions in our community by providing everyone a task and a common goal to unite around and a place in-game to air out any grievances they might have.

I am also going to expand on existing programs provided for by our tax dollars, attempt to create new programs, and very likely begin asking congress to start redistributing our tax dollars back to the community. You can expect the full weight of the SFP vote behind those motions. It's unclear how this will be one through the budget but those debates will be had in congress at a later time.

And one last thing, I will be setting up an economic committee to monitor trends on the marketplace and to work on setting up cooperatives for any party that wishes to have one and even for private groups of individuals. This group will also monitor the ledgers of any existing cooperatives in eUSA and provide advice according to the health and growth of each of them.

Trekk: That is an ambitious agenda, I sincerely wish you luck with it. Now, I read that you are looking to put together a diverse team. What kinds of people are you looking for, and what kinds of jobs can they expect to find?

Wilhelm: Truthfully I'm looking for anyone who would like to join the administration, regardless of affiliation, but I am going to provide first dibs on any jobs to people of parties that I have not already made an appointment for. At the moment I'm seeking a member of the Black Sheep Party and We The People to fill roles. Jobs include everything from deputy Secretary of Media to the Minister of Education. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense have already been filled, among other positions.

Trekk: Adding on to that, who should they contact to find a placement in your administration?

Wilhelm: They can contact me, or RF Williams.

Trekk: I know you wanted to address the feuding that you have seen within the current eUSA political structure. Do you have specific plans for this?

Wilhelm: Aside from the new legislative body wherein everyone can vote and air grievances, I will personally serve as a mediator between feuding individuals to provide fair and just ways to recourse and compromise. Beyond that I am going to include every party in decision making and will provide roles and jobs for as many people from each party as I can.

Trekk: You’ve been CP before. I remember from my days as CP that it is often a stressful and thankless job. What makes you want to venture forward and take the reins once more?

Wilhelm: I've got plenty of free-time this month and I want to have some fun on eRepublik.

Trekk: Is there something particular that you especially want to tackle this time around?

Wilhelm: I think My last few responses suffice on this question. There is a lot on the agenda and many more things that will come up over the course of the next term that I and my team will need to tackle.

Trekk: A fair point. Well when can we expect cabinet announcements?

Wilhelm: Cabinet announcements will be made by the end of the night or early next morning, there's a few more things my team needs to discuss before we go public with the information.

Trekk: The voters have a decision to make on February 5th. Obviously you think they should choose you. What do you want to say to those on the fence about where their vote will fall?

Wilhelm: I'd say that if you want to have a government that keeps you informed, genuinely wants to include everyone in the process of governing, and that heals the divisions in the community; I am the right choice. If you just want more goodies; I am the right choice. If you want an active and involved country president; I am the right choice. And if you want someone you will be able to depend on to be fair and continue the course our country is on; I am the right choice.

Trekk: Well I thank you for hanging out today, but that is all the time we have. I am sure your responses have given voters something to think about. I know who I am voting for on the 5th. I encourage all my readers to consider deeply who they will vote for.

On the 5th we will choose our leader for the February term. It will be an interesting election to watch. I, Trekker, personally intend on voting for Wilhelm Rontgen. He is experienced, wants to make the country a better place, and truly seems interested in listening to others. In a political system mired in chicken crap, it would be a welcome breath of fresh air.

We need a president looking for communication.

We at The 506 encourage everyone reading this to consider voting for Wilhelm. He has the experience, the communication skills, and the empathy we need in a CP.

A vote for Wilhelm is a vote for progress.
