Hi,
You maybe know me as the guy with a lot of companies selling tons of food, houses of all Qs and HRM daily.
I just noticed that eUSA increased their Work Tax from 1% to 3%.
That's a terrible mistake.
I mean, I am proud to say I am the biggest Tax Contributor of the eUSA for months. 1212 Companies for WaM. 660 in Nebraska, 115 in Kentucky and 437 in D.C.
Also my workers generate 1000 works per day and pay their income tax in eUSA... wait... it's 600 now. 400 daily workers lost because of the icnreased tax. Thank you very much! Those players are now propably working for a hostile nation, financing wars against eUSA's allies.
Apart from the VAT & Work tax loss for eUSA, I lose ~12k in profit daily due to the decreased employee work. (I obviously use Tycoon Packs, so the proportionality is pretty high.) This was money I could've spent to increase my business and thus the tax revenue of eUSA.
For this decrease in employees, in return, I get taken away another 6341cc daily for work tax.
Before the tax increase, with my companies I used to contribute 3171cc with WaM, ~3500cc with VAT of my sales and ~2600cc by my workers per day. A total of 9271cc, 7,43% of eUSAs tax income (Day 3667).
Why?
Since the 10th anniversary event, eUSA had higher tax revenues than ever. The national Orgs are full of money, there's no need for such a tax raise. It's only hurting the state and the growth of our economy built up over months and years. It's like they didn't learn anything from the Pre-Resource-Wars-II-Disaster caused by extreme taxes.
Funnier, while they are hurting eUS producers with a monstrous tax raise, foreign producers can still import their (propably more cheaply produced) products in our country for a small price, making life for local producers even harder.
Since I wrote this article spontaneous and I was pretty sleepy, a short update:
What upsets me here is, just like Feynmann pointed out in the Comments, that eUS has become a tax oasis and a power house of production for the world, for the cost of nothing. We have all Resources (who cares for air weapons anyway?) in the 51 core regions. We don't have to lift a finger for it or spend money on wars.
The 1% taxes across the board were attracting dozens and hundreds of producers from around the world to work here and those who already were here were encouraged to build every new company here. The tax icnrease will stop and maybe reverse this trend. It was also part of what makes eUSA so powerful. If any country, let's say Amdinlandia decided to fight against the eUS, they would fight against the world.
Finally - it feels a bit like a Bait&Switch move. You see the constant 1% taxes across the board and decide to build here. After that's done, the scam begins by indiscriminately raising the taxes.
However, there's still the chance to pay the forum elitists back for their theft. We can sabotage the train wars. You can fight against eUSA in direct fight to try to end the train wars, at least causing high expenses in COs.
Also you should sell your goods via donations instead of the market or export them to country with low VAT (e.g. Brazil). When you have the option, move your companies out of eUSA and don't even consider building any new companies here. Also stop working in companies that are barely profitable anymore.
Edit: Even better, steal the BHs, CHs and SHs of those congressmen who voted for that tax increase! Hit them in the face personally.

eUsa has bonuses in all three categories, only one other country has that. eRomania. Guess how much there Work tax is? Guess who has the highest employee salaries in the eWorld. You guessed it, both of those countries. No country that has 100% bonuses in at least 3 categories tax @ 1%.
Also, why would you pay back the eUsa by sabotaging it? Doesn’t sound very American? You can have a discussion about it and maybe make some changes to a temporary tax raise that was done to ensure there is enough money to pay for the programs that are offered to its citizens, raise the reserve to ensure there is enough money for COmbat orders and future events.
I understand you make less profit, but honestly, you should still be making a healthy amount

I only have a small fraction of Marcel's resources, Carlos. 92 companies., still I managed to tuck away in excess of 100k CC this week. I can only dream about how much he's sitting on.
Dear Carlos, I might be wrong, but I will try to answer your suggestions/questions and place some of my own, for you or someone else to answer.
1. eUS Bonuses - the eUS is privileged "economically" with having all (but Neodymium) resources IN ITS CORE REGIONS. Not only does it have all resources, but it has a WHOLE 50 regions to back those regions with plenty of space for small/medium scale company owners to use the eUS max resources with low or NO pollution. It also has a few regions with max local resources, providing an oasis for the Tycoons, like Marcel here, who has hundreds (thousands) of companies. Even China with it's tons of regions has not got that privilege.
So the eUS is having all the resources without ANY need to fight for them or rent them or whatever.
The Countries, you mentioned - Romania, Serbia, etc.:
- DO NOT have all the resources in their cores, so they need to either constantly fight for their max resources or rent them, which in both cases generates significant country spendings.
- Have their regions amidst the top countries in game, therefore it they are subjected to dmg drain and also need to regularly reset the determination of their high resource regions - again, resulting in significant costs. And of course they not only need to defend 1 high resource region, the whole trading route in order to have that resource apply on a national scale.
Do you see the difference???
The eUS main advantage are those tons of resources and regions, allowing it to become a tax heaven - attracting both allied and enemy players to move/create their companies there without moving it's arse even a tiny bit, without the need to rent regions or the need to annex/keep regions by force.
That gives the eUS the advantage over those countries - attracting half of the eWorld's population and taxing them while SPENDING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the process.
Raising the taxes will only deprive the eUS of that advantage in the long run.
2. The Domestic programs
I have not been in the eUS for a month now, but as far as I remember the AARP & AA (the only active eUS programs, not sure if AA counts as active), accounted for less than a DAY's worth of taxes in their WEEKLY budget.
Of course the prices of the food have almost quadrupled during the event and are currently about 2x their preAnniversary value, so I guess Voots needed to spend about 4x the usual amount during the event and currently about 2x. So what the less than 1 days worth of taxes was raised to what 3 days worth in the peak of the event??? And Currently - 1.5 Days worth of taxes??? How much? (I don't really want to know - do the math for yourself).
I am curious though with the prices skyrocketing:
- Wasn't the VAT increased by significant amount?
- Wasn't there an increase of the WAM tax income accounting for people trying to produce as much as they can to utilize the spark of life on the market?
- Wasn't there an increase in the WAM & VAT taxation due to the Black Friday -> people building a ton of new companies (mostly WAM raw material companies)?
Didn't all that help to decrease the stress that the Domestic programs caused on the eUS Treasury? (Please do those calculations).
Please, do elaborate on those points or maybe not you, maybe someone else.
Am I wrong? Was the eUS Treasury Stressed enough? Was that Tax increase really needed?
Great explanation. Again, I think this is a short term solution to a low reserve. I feel like lower taxes will come back in less than a couple months and everything will return to normal profits, not affecting anyone.

It is my understanding that based on the threat of Iran in Mexico, coupled with the amount of other countries having to spend on inflated CO's recently and the fact that we want to have reserves when events happen to subsidize the domestic programs WITHOUT having to pay higher prices during the event, it was decided to proactively raise taxes temporarily (not any higher than any other country that has multiple bonuses) to ensure there was enough for any emergency. Again, this is not a permanent solution.
@Phil - please don't drag me into that. I am not part of "us", whatever "us" is. I did not leave because of hatred or whatever you have - I left because of disappointment.
I still count a significant part of the "elitist pigs" as my friends. In fact you consider the player I care and cherish above all in game as a "pig elitist".
@Carlos - was the eUS really threatened? Would Iran, as an Asterian country be removed so easily out of Mexico if the eUS was an actual target? Check how much Greece spent in Al Madinah (a single campaign) vs Slovenia (Asteria) and compare that to the amount the eUS used to remove eIran out of Mexico (all the campaigns - Direct and RWs). Looking at the numbers you would see the difference in the cases of "facing imminent threat" vs "not really a threat".
Also the Tax increase was proposed AFTER the Iran (Asteria) threat was obviously non-existent.
I am saying all that not to pick up fights with you or something. I spend my "eYouth" in the eUS and whatever I have learned or accomplished I did it in the eUS with the help of some amazing eUS citizens.
I am actually concerned when so many people decide to vote out the eUS' Greatest advantage in-game without thinking about the consequences. The same thing happened with the MPP with Turkey - blindly voting on a MPP that would have a HUGE consequences. It even got more "YES" votes than a bloody CBO donation - and did anyone cared to think/ask - WHY?
I will personally feel the impact of that law too, cause I made quite a lot of companies (for my standards) on the Black Friday, but if the tax policy of the eUS remains the same for a long time I fear the eUS will face much greater loss than mine.

There are no conditions to remove except a willing Congress in the future. This Congress cannot force the outcome of future Congress votes.

Congress is around 65% the same, month in and month out. Therefore this congress will largely be the same as “later congress” and will probably rely on the same opinion makers. A pre-emptive raid on tycoon cash flows needs some reasoning as to how long it will continue. Of all the people who can afford to dissolve and rebuild their factories elsewhere, it’s those guys.

That's actually true... for around 600k cc (pocket money) I could move "most" of my WaM companies to other countries with save Food and Weapon resources. Then I could change my citizenship back to a German one and pay the goverment like 15k daily to decrease their work and income tax to 1%. Not inexpensive but also not unrealistic...

I was hoping to see some discussion of the goals of the tax, and an estimation of the sunset of the law. None of which would be binding, but should have been part of an informed discussion. Otherwise, y’all just voting on gut feel and personal ideology.

As far as an estimated sunset, I've seen at least one Congress member publicly put forth 3 months as his estimate. As for me, I'd not set a specific date but would prefer to see re-evaluation done on a regular basis.

Well, it's around 20k less now. Doing the math roughly it was 105k* and is 85k now. I need to spend 32,5k per day in packs and 8k in self-supplies to make it possible and ~14,3k per day for gold. So my excess cc has been reduced from 50,2k to 30,2k.
*(it is high atm. due to the aftermath of the 10th anniversary, normally it should be 30k less, which means that I would have gone from 20,2k to 200 excess cc)

Marcel, if this is only temporary would you be able to stomach it? I feel like 1.5 years of having 1% and a month or two of having it @ 3 before lowering it again would be ok for people not to move their companies offshore.

At no, anywhere is 3% tax considered a huge amount, except in erepublik. As for import taxes, I'm sure there will be some attempt to equalize those, so that imports will not hurt our fair country.

The tax is considered a temporary measure and was imposed to buff up the coffers of the eUSA. We felt it prudent to make sure we have reserves to counter any emergency situation.
You may rest assured that future congress members will revisit this issue. I urge that you vote in the next, and every election.
