Good day, good people of eBelgium!

This will be a second month with new government leading our glorious country. What do you think, how was it so far?

Those of you who are not in congress (though my humble opinion is that almost all active people are in congress, others are multi accounts) not know that in the past mandate it was pretty turbulent in the congress mass PM. There were many argues, bad words and disagreements.

This month it’s less of that, I guess everyone just cooled down. But there are still changes in the directions were our country is going and still some disagreements, which you can tell by the votes on proposed laws we had.

I’m not that active, but I try to have an overview of the situation. What I’ve realized is that it’s hard if you’re not visiting the IRC channels and sneaking behind the closed doors, asking people in PMs. It was probably always like that, but people earlier tended to put me in those mass PMs more often, don’t know why though. I cared more, maybe it’s that. I still care and will help, but if doesn’t take much of my RL time. After all, we’re not in college any more. 🙂

Do people in the government steal money from the treasury? It’s not the question about the current government in eBe but in general. Maybe someone who was in the government in some other country and stumbled upon this article can answer my question, because I don’t expect someone from our politic scene will answer me. 😛

I am asking that because we had some attempts of transferring and successful transferring of money from our treasury after the people in the head of the state changed.

I was in some PTO team and I did end up with some “dirty” money (my guess is that it was dirty, taken from eMalaysia) on my account, but not too much, and I always ended up returning it to the “people” somehow. But I never got the picture how much money was there (is there) and how did those people take it, what did they do with it…

I should probably get more active to find all those thing out, but... *sigh*.

Here's my opinion.

The "new" gov has done nothing of value. They started a war by accident, blamed anyone else but themselves for their mistakes and caused a major fracture between the congress and the government. The only reason you feel it's more calm this month is only because a lot of player are tired of talking to people that do not respect them in any way and only care about keeping themselves in a position of power (which as stated before they are doing nothing with).

Some might say, that the previous gov was the exact same, doing nothing and just staying in power months after months. That is wrong and purely misinformed. We used to have strong ties with our allies in eUK, eSpain and others. The proof of that is the asylum eUK has set in place for the eBelgians that wish to escape the downward spiral the current gov is pushing us into right now.

And so players are leaving. I can't bring myself to think that the current gov think of it's citizens leaving as a success. It's not. It just shows how badly they have managed their communications with the citizens.

I myself am planning on leaving soon. Most of the players I have fun with in this game already left to other countries and eBelgium as it stands doesn't give me any reason to stay. The others and myself are not giving up or admitting ideological defeat, we just recognize that they have twisted the game so far (I won't get into how they somehow suddenly found more votes than they ever got during elections) that there is no way for us to fight them by playing by the rules. And as we are not willing to break them, we're leaving.

I'm sad to leave behind my country and a lot of good people, but it's not worth getting disgusted by the game and some of it's players.

I wish it would be as easy as that, but staying would just wear out my motivation to even play the game at all and I wish to avoid that as much as possible. Hopefully I'll return someday when things are back in way that allows anyone to thrive in eBelgium. But it is clearly not the case for me right now.

As I said I'm leaving quite a few good friends behind and I'm counting you among them. I'll try to keep in touch and observe from afar how the situation evolves.
