My Congress Report

Day 1,749, 12:06 Published in United Kingdom Norway by Major Lee Hung

Good evening readers,

I have decided I will compile a report at least twice this term about my time in congress, so my voters and the wider public know I'm actually active and doing as expected.

So, welcome to the first of my reports!

The Term So Far - Summary

To sum it up, this term has been interesting; and not the good kind! I have decided so far to take a 'sit back and observe' approach as I don't feel it's my place to get too involved in events right now, but this has become hard. Congress seems split and this has been especially worsened by the BigAnt ordeal, I feel things are only going to worsen without intervention.

Over the next few days, I will start becoming a little more involved in current events, but any efforts to actually better the eUK seem to be futile right now!

What I've Voted So Far

Here is a brief summary of my votes and reasoning behind the votes so far:

MPP with Slovenia - Yes.
MPP with Moldova - Abstained. Congress was split over this issue as there was some confusion. The MoFA advising against, but the President advising for.
MPP with Moldova - No. It was clear from discussions that this alliance wasn't in the eUK's interest, mostly due to the financial viability.
MPP with Slovakia - Yes.
President Impeachment - No. I have been against this as, when the vote passes, there will be 2 days for the 2nd placed candidate to take office. By the time he adjusts to things, the next CP will be in office. The only actual positive to come of this would be to make a statement to BigAnt, which we really don't need to do.

Current Concerns

In the future, I will be bringing more attention to this, but for now I'll keep it short. My main concern this month is simple, there is a worrying level of 'elitism' influencing political decisions behind the scenes. My theory is that this simply comes down to the TUP battling it out with other parties, at a time when we really don't need such conflict. BigAnt's own cabinet which had a large number of TUP members has criticised his term, yet they're the ones behind a lot of the failings we've had.

The eUK is becoming more and more divided by the day. The community is becoming completely segregated by political parties. While some debate is healthy for the eUK, parties having such battles with each other when they're all in the wrong is hindering progress. It is helped even less by the fact that next month's candidates seem largely incapable of running the eUK properly.

The Road Ahead - Personal Thoughts

The next major thing this turn will be the country president elections. This is mostly between two people who have done little for the eUK community, very rarely interact with them, I've never actually heard of either (all though this could just be me) and their manifestos are hugely unimpressive. They seem to just be a run-down of everything that has happened in the eUK in the last 15 days.

So, TL😉R over, my stance on whichever candidate wins for next month will be that they have to do a lot to prove they're actually worth my trust. I won't be voting for either and I definitely won't try to get involved with their current plans until I see at least some positive from this.

Thanks for reading this report, expect another in a weeks time!
