Conservative thinkers don't tell real life service members that they have no honour, that putting their lives at risk every day is not honourable, that while deployed in war zones they do so without honour, that the man who had his intestines spill out and the woman who lost her legs served without honour. Arch conservatives support civilian control of the military. Arch conservatives insist that soldiers follow civilian orders. Arch conservatives never make the mistake of blaming service members for the errors of politicians. The Vietnam War may have been a dishonourable policy but the soldiers served honourably. You can't be a conservative if you think that big government can make the virtues of sacrifice and service to country dishonourable. Conservatives recognize those as individual merits consequent upon private choice. But so do most reasonable people. When you told a real life soldier his service was without honour I thought you'd just mispoken, You continue to repeat this view. RGR, Article 125 applies to men and women regardless of sexual orientation. Sodomy and Oral Sex of any kind is strictly prohibited while in the military.

DADT was dishonorable. A gay soldier was told to lie by omission. Dishonorable. If being gay made one unfit to be a soldier (which it manifestly does not) then don't ask prevented an officer from fulfilling his duty. Again dishonorable. Knowing and accepting the truth may be difficult, but it is honorable.

I didn't say you couldn't be gay and be in the military. Just keep it to yourself. Fair solution.

I am perfectly aware of that article, and likely have greater experience with the Code than you. Amongst other things it prohibits a male service member from having oral sex with his wife. A few other things as well. I'm not sure how that makes dying for your country dishonourable, or losing legs less of a sacrifice.
