History of the PEACE/PHX Super Alliance

Today I will be discussing the history of the other major alliance bloc in erepublik, the PEACE/Phoenix super alliance. Now the formation of PEACE really owes itself to the formation of Atlantis. As mentioned in my other article the world used to consist of much smaller regional alliances until one day, a few world leaders got the bright idea of merging the smaller alliance into a super alliance. The first of these alliance was Atlantis which consisted of the U.S., the Northern Alliance, and parts of the Mediterranean alliance. For awhile it looked like Atlantis would dominate the world but then almost every other nation banded together themselves to form the People of Earth Associated under Common Excellence: Global Community, or as we call it PEACE.

PEACE was made up of the South American section of PANAM, FIST, and parts of the Mediterranean Alliance. This gave them several powerful members such as Indonesia and Pakistan who were both very powerful in the early part of the game. In the beginning PEACE had to focus much of their efforts on defending their soil in wars such as WW1 where Romania invaded Hungary, and operation for French toast where every Atlantis country that could, invaded France. Over time, several new countries began to emerge as key players in PEACE. While Pakistan began to taper off after the /v/ers left Hungary, Russia, and France all had baby booms that helped them become major players. Soon PEACE got its chance to jump ahead of Atlantis as the dominant alliance.

In what came to be known as WW2 Romania decided to declare on Indonesia in an attempt to gain the Chinese regions which Indonesia controlled. It was a true battle of empires and while Romania had some early successes PEACE fought back hard and ended up pushing the Romanians back to their Russian regions. Indonesia then proceeded to push West through Russia to wrestle away control of the very rich Russian regions from Romania. Eventually Indonesia won the war and Russia later won its independence and joined PEACE. This was the beginning of the end for Atlantis as that alliance soon crumbled a few months later giving PEACE yet another chance to prove how great they were.

After the fall of Atlantis the former alliance was split into two halves, the European half who wanted to form EDEN and the American half who wanted to form Fortis, eventually though both sides rejoined with the exception of the U.K. who went on to join PEACE. PEACE saw the division in Atlantis as a good time to invade those Atlantis countries who, for a long time, had tried to invade PEACE countries. The result was a mass invasion of the U.S., Canada, and Spain. The French were responsible for invading Canada and Spain (both countries who invaded France during Operation French Toast), The Portuguese attacked America from the south, and the Russians and Indonesians invaded the U.S. from the west. PEACE had a major advantage in this war since all the invaders were able to use their MPPs that were activated when Atlantis attacked them, for offensive purposes (except Indonesia). This resulted in heavy losses that resulted in the U.S. being knocked down to just Florida and Spain and Canada being completely wiped out. For a while it almost seemed that PEACE had done the impossible and conquered the world.

This didn't last long though as Canada and Spain soon got back on their feet and the U.S. launched a successful counter attack and began to regain their regions military as well as diplomatically. At first PEACE offered the U.S. a peace treaty that would give them the chance to buy back their regions at 300-500 and gave PEACE permanent control of California and Hawaii. The U.S. congress agreed to the terms but PEACE leaders eventually withdrew the offer so the war continued. The U.S. then started to turn things around after being beaten back to just Florida and after negotiating a separate peace treaty with Portugal that included Portugal handing their regions back to the U.S., America quickly regained most of her regions. PEACE just couldn't hold onto these regions and within a few months all of the U.S., Canada, and Spain were back under home rule.

Soon after countries began to leave PEACE, first Italy left, then Indonesia, then almost the entire alliance followed suit. Most went on to form the alliance of Phoenix while France, the Ukraine, and Italy went on to form the entente. Phoenix became the most powerful of the two new alliances however they often ended up helping members of the entente as they still saw those nations as allies and EDEN as enemies. Since the fall of PEACE EDEN has grown into the more powerful alliance with Poland experiencing a massive baby boom however, Phoenix is still very powerful and can hold their own with EDEN, as evident in the recent invasion of Britain.

V2 will be a very interesting era for alliances. After the fall of PEACE we have already begun to see several new alliance pop up which gives us something different then the two alliance dynamic. With SOL popping up in South Asia and the Entente things are starting to look a bit more like in Beta with the original alliances. It will also be interesting to see these alliances fight for control of the new countries the admins will most likely add in V2.
