From a taxpayer.
Whiskey Jack
We have heard a lot about how Country>MU>Party>self lately. I personally believe there is some truth behind this slogan & I have never considered myself a "fair-weather citizen", but I have been called such in the last day. To those who think that this is the case: I have done over 3.4 billion in damage for the USA, and I have stayed through two full wipes. I help the ATO efforts every chance that I get, and I always vote where I am needed. I donate to my MU over 6000 WRM a day for use in the commune in order to have weapons available for fellow fighters while almost never taking supply for myself. I invest the gold from my BH, SS & TP medals back into WRM companies to increase how much I can give, and any excess WRM that I give is sold by our quartermasters to fund COs.
But I simply cannot afford to keep up that level of supply with the new tax, and so I am changing citizenship to a country with a lower tax burden.
My inability to afford the new 10% work tax hurts the country in a several ways. First, if I cannot afford to produce WRM because of the tax then my MU will eventually have to reduce supplies to our fighters. Second, if I cannot afford to work because of the tax then the government actually makes less money from me than if they left the tax at a level which I could afford. Third, if the gold that I receive from medals must be converted to CC in order to pay the tax (and the gold from the medals would not even keep up with the new tax), then I cannot afford to build new companies, which means less excess being sold to fund COs and less tax being brought in from the sale of those WRMs. So I believe that I am making this move out of the country not for myself, but for my MU and my country. I will still fight for the eUSA, and I will come back as I am able to participate in ATO activities, but I cannot stay while this tax makes it impossible to maintain my current production. It is how I feel that I can do the most good for the eUSA. So take the time to think it through before just blindly following what those in government tell you is good for the country.

First! Check out Hooligan writin' an article!
AH is coming ehome :3
Congress they call this unintended consequences.
Never thought I'd experience you writing an article. 😮
Voted, of course. If I wasn't in Spain, I would be in Germany. Those taxes are killing anyone WAMing a bit.

What moron called you a "fair-weather citizen"?
Doesn't most of the eUS's damage come from private sector militias anyway, yet a 10% Work Tax is rolled out that's obviously gonna cripple private communes? People who understand the margins involved in either winning or losing on the battlefield should be determining tax decisions, not political role-players. Drawing a line between defense and finance departments in gov at this point (considering game design) is totally arbitrary.
Voted o7
i guess i do not understnd the margins invalved in winning battles. so i am probably completely wrong. but to me.
to make a profit sell all goods and do not fight anyone.
high taxes with lots of CO's if the government spent 75% of tax mnoney on silly CO's. citenzins to mke profit. fight to get the co's to get money to wam to get weps. to sell extra weps.
high taxes everyone not fighting a significant amount leave the country and go to an allied country. then when we get country missions based on citizens. it easier to be more active fighters less none fighters.
but i guess it will take a month or two for he governemt to get a policy of waste 75% of the governments funds on non important batles.
but if congresses taxes and is always savign more for a rainy day than using to pay for co's then it will hurt.
but i think as a good way to encourage people to fight co's and high taxes. it will both to wam people need to collect co's, and people who do not want to fight will leave the country!
here are two parts of the game. economic and war, if a player is not participating n both i do not want them in my country
But there have been no cos since the tax changed. Yesterday, Congresscritters were saying there had been no request for a donation to the treasury. So, the question is what are the geniuses in the exec, branch doing with their money.
Are they simply saving it to finance the govt. MUs? Are they robbing from the work of independent MUs to finance the MUs the government pays for.
If not, prove me wrong. Put up substantial cos for every battle against Spain or Poland on our original territories and for important battles abroad.
I'll believe it when I see it. I have seen no way to recoup even part of what they are stealing from my MU every day.
There is now a battle for an original region which we are losing. Our opponents have a CO up. As usual. we do not.
i put up a couple for div one spent about 1000.
but yeah your right, just like real usa the government is sitting there twittling their funds, i mean thumbs. letter the average citizen pay taxes and watching deflation take hold.
wel lalright its the opposite in real life, it is much easier irl to spend money than raise taxes so deflation is occuring.
this game needs to let the governemts auto set co's for battles involving the country!
RTBpublik.jkeller4000.com is a spread sheet showing the co's i have set
RTB being raising the bar 🙂
Nice article ! o7
Morons in congress dont fight or need to supplies other people.. its not their fault, they have no idea what they are doing ...
That is why I am practicing my Canadian dialect, eh.

What's worse for the country? Losing 20 citizens per day because we're wiped/almost wiped, or 23 citizens per day because we're wiped/almost wiped AND have a 25% tax rate?
Yes, higher taxes suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
But it's necessary. If we empty the reserves to fight, and end up wiped for a Congressional month, we're boned. Simply and completely.
Around 50% of the money we used to boot Servia and Hungary came from private donors. They can't keep that up forever.
The reserves have been devastated to dangerously low levels.
We can't keep putting the push to regain our core regions on one creditcard or another, or continue emptying the reserves for forever.
I'm sorry you have to move to avoid the 10% tax. But the alternatives are far more damaging.
Also, the number of citizens per day isn't the ACTUAL number, but it is the approximate ratio of how much the eUSA's population went down during the two listed situations.
I understand your point but I am a eUS Marine, we are no longer funded by the Government, I see the new Military not really doing anything. So what are they funding? I heard the POTUS is going through the funds like it was cheetos. Why should I pay a tax for nothing in return?
The increased revenue from the 10% work tax is going 2 places and 2 places alone. Combat Orders and rebuilding the Reserves so that, if we end up wiped for a Congressional Month again, we're not boned on funding our commitments.
OK great, So how does that benefit Me and my Marines?
We commune and this cost me a lot of money to keep us supplied. I have many companys and that kills me in taxes, it also kills my other Marines that have companys to keep us supplied. I already still have to buy wrms to keep us supplied as well.
Combat Orders and rebuilding the Reserves is not really a concern of mine. Maybe tell Oblige to calm down on spending the reserves on stupid sh*t.
I am more concerned of my Marines and making sure we can keep up with our supplys in demand.
Paying more taxes is not going to help the eUSA, you all need to realize that. What you all are doing is driving true eUSA citizens to leave.
Combat Orders, when posted, can go to citizens on important battles.
Combat Orders are absolutely essential in getting the damage necessary to win a lot of battles, as it makes a lot of TWO people jump sides to claim it, which reduces their damage and increases our's for that battle.
The Reserves need to be rebuilt in case we end up without Congress for another Congressional Month, as then -everything- that's tax funded would be shut down. MU, Newb programs, Combat Orders.
The money before wasn't spent on stupid shit. The Reserves money booted Hungary and Serbia, and played a partial role in knocking Serbia back to their core regions.
Having less enemies occupy the USA increases production of companies, thus benefiting all Americans.
Being wiped and nearly wiped is killing the country a LOT faster than the 25% tax rate did. The 10% tax rate looks like it's killing the country more because people are more vocal about quitting because of taxes than they are about quitting because we're wiped/nearly wiped, and because the people who quit due to wipe/low regions are generally the "core" of the D1-low D3 population.
Check the quality of player lost during a wipe to the quality of the player leaving due to these taxes. It's not a 1 to 1 comparison.
If the Politicians would steal only half of what they do, we would have plenty of money. Not that they would know what to do with it.
The budgets are public. Please tell me where the theft is?
yyah , only 10k of gold laying in the country treasury for over a year now... very useful imho

Do you know how much we spent just on COs last month? 15k gold from the reserves, plus something similar from private pockets.
what about reducing the crazy tax to 7% thus would lessen the damage that we have to private MU since they are fighting us and their funds would not last for a long time.
So, where are the combat orders. Are they set so only Govt. MUs can benefit?
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/USA/133058
The first donate law since the taxes went up has just been proposed. CO's should be forthcoming within the next day or two.
So you wait days while some of the biggest dealers of damage bleed. BRILLIANT!.
Just put up a CO in Georgia to prove you really intend to do it. You are not broke.
Well said, AH!
I didnt even know AH had a paper
France is CONSTANTLY fighting to stay on the map, they have a 1% tax, and they have a treasury fairly close to that of the eUS. Where does the money go.........
It's a WHALE of a tale, you wouldn't believe me if I told you. I just feel OBLIGEd to give you this courtesy comment.
This is such a clueless comment.
Can't say I blame you man, It's the same for all of us outside the gov....
Since I see one has to put his opinion on all our articles I shall quote him "Well, if you're broke, apparently I do know what you should do better than you do." ~Talostastic
And yet you returned the money to me that I sent you to help you get solvent, then continued to accuse me of not caring about other people.
lol dude you sent 5 gold to be condescending, if you actually thought I would accept it then you've got serious personality issues.
Shit I'll take the 5 gold if he doesn't want it.
I share your concerns regarding the latest enactment by congress with regard to taxes; Introduction of WaM taxes were stifling; as has this recent increase to 10%.
Given the new activity in-game the marketplace itself seems to be shifting upward to restore some sense of balance to the economy it lost after the ability to work as manager was introduced.
This specific situation was caused by the epic contest occurring while we were already occupied. As we vote for congressional elections today all incoming eSenators should be held accountable to their constituents for every red-cent of their tax revenue.
Thank you for sharing your perspective; as a fellow eAmerican it is my hope you will be able to remain and support our domestic economy.
Aw come on. Oblige needs to tank somehow. Pay the man!
As your congressman I can say I voted against any tax increase. I understand that it hurts our economy and our damage output to increase taxes, but there seems to be a concentration of oldfags that guard the levers of power jealously even within the congress.
