Fire and Green

Day 2,424, 17:39 Published in USA USA by seeker1

One day in the month of June, when the mushrooming thermals of midsummer heatwaves were beginning to push their zepelin further and further up into the clouds, the soldiers of US Airborne received a visitor.

Tall and wild, she whirled into the mess hall in a swirl of color fire and green, stirring up a scent of sweat and roses. Discarded papers were swept off the ground in the wind of her dress as the soldiers looked up astonished from savory Q5 lunches. One such paper flew out from under the Cocks’ table, flipping and rolling until coming to rest with a dusty smack on Lt Zonmei’s face. He peeled it off.

“Out-of-date roster,” he mumbled, before crumbling the page into a throwable ball.

As Zonmei was preparing an assault on the back of Greenday’s head, the visitor came to a halt. The paper dropped to the ground as the wind stopped and room sat quiet.

All eyes set upon the woman in the fire and green as she sat relaxed and charming with an impish grin upon the private dining table of the notorious sheepshagger Chubbzilla, like some jazz singer on a baby grand, sweeping aside his half-eaten mutton and haggis scramble.

“Good morning, soldiers,” came a strong honeyed voice from behind the smile, “I have a mission for you.” She laughed and kicked out at Gen Vrpanch as he stood and made a dash for the alarm. Her yellow left slipper flew off and caught him in kidney, sending him sprawling to the floor.

The visitor continued, as an enraptured BTTrambly picked up the shoe where it landed at his feet, “I seem to have misplaced a number of weapons.”

I couldn’t let vrpanch have all the fun.
