eUS Congressional Minutes - 2/18/2021

Day 4,840, 14:10 Published in USA USA by Derphoof

On the evening of Thursday, February 18th, Congress met in its first live session on Discord, as authorized by The Ultimate Congressional Roleplay Act. After going over the streamlined rules for debate, the meeting went as follows:

10:05 EST - Motion to Open Debate was put on the table and agreed to, beginning the meeting.

10:10pm EST - Congress entered a moderated caucus on the issue of the PAL Award. Various congressmen spoke their mind on the bill, with debate lasting approximately 10 minutes.

10:20pm EST - Congress motioned to a vote, in accordance with the vote that was underway on the forums. The vote was as follows:

Blande - Aye
Derphoof - Aye
Kobble - Aye
SVS - Aye (Already Voted on Forum)
Paul - Aye

These votes were added to the Congressional Record on the forum. While Malpazar, What a Guy, and Nicholas Vincent were present, mic issues were had, and they voted “Aye” shortly thereafter on the forum.

10:25pm EST - Derphoof motioned to enter a moderated caucus on general debate, with each speaker allowed to speak on a topic of their choosing. The motion was adopted unanimously.

Of note, SVS brought up the topic of the forums, and Derphoof brought up the topic of Equine-American treatment and “eSpouses for All.”

10 : 35pm EST - SVS motions to enter a moderated caucus on the topic of the forums, limited to five speakers. We hear arguments both for and against the usage of the forums.

10:40pm EST - Kobble motions to enter a moderated debate on what type of chocolate is superior. Congress votes against that motion.

10:45pm EST - Congress votes to close debate, adjourn the meeting, and have the #House-Chamber stand in recess until the Speaker team calls the House into session.

Derp’s Brief Commentary:

The meeting ran much more smoothly, openly, and amicably than I expected it would. Paul and I, to whom this was delegated, notified Congress that we would be meeting an hour prior to start time. Despite short notice, 10 Congressmen did show up. Some mic problems were had, but most were cleared up.

Debate was made public via the eNPR Twitch, but I forgot to change the archive settings before the stream began. So it was not saved. It will be saved in the future.

Only one problem arose. The #House-Chamber discord voice chat is limited to only those with the Congress role on Discord. Cthulhu joined the call, while under the influence of one or more substances, as he still had the Congress role. This was in error. Assuming that his role was correct, he participated in procedure, unchallenged by any congressmen. His votes were struck from the record.

The next meeting of Congress, absent any forum votes between now and then, is scheduled for 10:05pm EST on Thursday, February 25th. I look forward to another spirited debate and fun time had by all of Congress.
