Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight

They say Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight. At least if you want to win it...

Or unless you have a Donk!

To paraphrase it, today I brought my bare hands to a tank fight, which I usually don't do...
I usually fight with the best (Q7) weapon there is on the market. In ground battles that is, at least...

In aircraft battles I fight mostly barehandedly...
Rarely I fight with aircraft weapon Q5 as it's crazy expensive...

Unless you want to treat yourself for a special occasion or an important battle...
Hm, is there a battle so important that you fight with Q5 aircraft weapons?
I honestly doubt it...
But still, it's possible...

Or unless you organize yourself in teams for some assisted aircraft weapons self-building... But that's another story... If interested, you can read it here:
Complete eRepublik Economy - Quo Vadis, Plato?

So why I did it?

Why I always listen, but never do what they tell me?

Rules

Perhaps because I have a problem with just blindly following rules without questioning them and understanding them...
And there is a hidden reason behind most of the rules...
But they rarely tell it to you...
And rules can usually save time... Especially in the war. No time to think, no wasting time to make a decision, just follow the rules...

But understanding the reasons behind the rules helps as well to internalize the rules... Because, who wants to follow the rules that don't make sense...
Not me...

Perhaps because I need to try different things, experiment and see for myself what works the best and what doesn't and why...

And what I have learned so far is that every rule has an exception...

However, this time it was something else...

Anyway, all these options fell through through (pun intended) an unannounced sequence of events... At least for me... I don't know about you... Perhaps you could share your experience and intelligence/information...

Aliens, Zombies and Witches

It is and it has been quite interesting in the last few days...
First the Alien invasion was announced by the admins... And I wrote about this in one of my latest articles titled UFOs Arriving to the Battlefields Next Week | Day 5824 | New Aircraft UFO Skins, although I haven't seen any on the battlefield this week yet...

Unless you count zombies

and witches to be aliens...

Ok, a witch... (And if you wonder why do witches ride on a broomstick, this is an article for you: Why Do Witches Ride Brooms?)

Yeah, I know, this battlefield was quite empty... Perhaps you could send me a better image if you run into a witch flock...

Something more like this...

Flying Flock of Witches Riding on the Broomsticks

Or this

Lightning Struck a Flock of Witches by William Holbrook Beard (1825-1900), oil on cardboard, 12 1⁄4 × 17 5⁄8 in. (31.1 × 44.8 cm), Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift from the Trustees of the Corcoran Gallery of Art (Corcoran Collection), 2020.20.12

I mean, they are all fictional characters at least (for) now, but zombies and witches still belong to Earth, unlike Aliens, although in some ancient cultures and civilizations they were part of the mythological and through it also of the cultural and historical narrative.

Alien Ships on the Battlefields?

OK, I saw an allien ship on the mainpage on the challenge progress bar.

And I think I saw an allien just when I logged in, but now it's hiding and doesn't want to reappear... Perhaps you could send me a screenshot if you have one...

Oh, speak of the alien devil... Here she is, she just got summoned as I wrote their name...

But that's still not technically the battlefield yet...

Unless you count the fragment(s) of an alien ship, or how they are officially called, the UFO Blueprints, which you collected while on the battlefield fighting for it against witches and tanking your energy bars and pumpkins like crazy...

Mine turned a bit pale... Perhaps you could send me a better screenshot...?

However, even if you collected all of the fragments that are there in this weekly challenge, great, congrats!
Unfortunately, it's just a half of the work needed to fly your own allien ship...

So, good luck next week on the second part of the Unidentified Challenge!
Until then we could try flying on a broomstick...

But I digress...

So, what is happening this week on the battlefields?

Warfare Analysis | Day 5824-5826

Except the large 100,000 Prestige Points weekly event, the week started mostly as usual, with an usual Tuesday Epic battle in Estonia, and then followed the others... And that started to look a bit unusual as there were so many simultaneous epic battles, like 12 or 13 at a time... Earlier, we were lucky if there were 2 to chose from.

Personal Point of View

I wasn't prepared for this weekly challenge, as I collected perhaps around 240 energy bars and I could only dream of doing any significant progress on a 100000 PP Weekly event.

For that you would usually have to have at least 1666 Energy Bars to reach only half of the PP points on the first day and then you could perhaps get 10000 points during the week... So, around 3000 Energy bars and a little luck to complete the challenge...

But there was also something else...

Misterious Pumpkins

And if you click on View more, there was some small print on some pumpkins that might or might not appear... That sounds quite unrealiable... So I didn't give much significance to this...

Free(ish) Tanking?

And on the same day, after a few hours Master ZUO, our MU commander announced that there is basically almost free tanking...

Hm... At least if you have some Prestige Point Boosters and some Energy Bars stacked and Energy points collected and if you catch an Epic battle... A lot of ifs...

But one by one, they all came together... And so I decided to give it a try... To see how far I could go... Perhaps 10000 PP I manage to collect by the end of the week or or 20000 PP if I'm lucky and catch some late epic battles...

And how much pumpkin energy you get? Well it depends, but if you deploy at least 100 Energy points in a battle, chances are that you might get a pumpkin. If you deploy more, there is a 50% chance that you win 20-25% of energy back in the form of Pumpkins... Try experimenting... Some say that it's better to deploy 1000 points of energy, rathern than 2000 Energy points or 5000 energy points... Let me know what you have discovered...

However, my commander was not the only one who noticed the opportunity...

Witchcraft Whirlwind on Battlefields

And then magic started unwinding all over the battlefields...
There were epic battles in parallel and epic battles after epic battles...
Damages were piling up like rarely before...

And the allliances decided to use the opportunnity to reach some ambitious and usually hard reaching goals, tactical at least, if not strategical, when there is already an opportunity to tank almost for free...

In the Meantime - Soldiers' Stories from Croatian Trenches

And here in eCroatia, we were traditionally complaining on the channel why everyone has an epic battle except for Croatia... And it really seemed so... By the end of the first day, there was almost no country which hasn't organized an epic battle. Except Croatia, as it seemed... OK, perhaps a few other ones... Like Bolivia... (also Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, North Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Slovakia, South Africa, Switerland, Turkey and Venezuela).

Toljaga - the Epic Club

Toljaga - Club

Then Toljaga asked why are we complaining, why don't we organize an epic battle ourselves, it's not that difficult... Nah, we prefer to complain about no Epic in Crotia and hang to our precious chocolates until we collect them all... Or at least enough for the next important battle... I mean, it's only logical as it has been always so, so far... And I don't exclude myself from that... Imagine something like this...

But then some more informed of us (or at least more informed than me), sai😛
Wait, we will create an Epic battle tomorrow...

Tomorrow...? WTF? We are wasting a day in a weekly... For what? Why waiting?

Then Toljaga said something like,
I am tired of waiting...
Any volunteers?
Anyone wants to join me?

Yeah... The cricket we could all suddenly hear then...

Click on the image above to hear the cricket we all heard then... (It looks a bit like an alien?)

Nobody? OK, I'll do it myself, Toljaga said...

Yeah, right... Sure... We all laughed, but mostly from inside, as we were a bit curious and our fingers were itchy to fight... But the official command was to hold our fire until tomorrow, at least the energy bars... And to fight only with surplus energy that's about to overflow and go to waste if we don't use it...

And Toljaga went to fight and made himself an epic battle.
All alone...
By himself!

We couldn't believe it at first, but then we joined the first Croatian epic battle in the last 2 weeks... Toljaga's Epic!

In the meantime our Croatian dictator-president decided that if was time for Croatia to attack Peru the next day (Day 5825)...

Peru?

Peru? Why Peru?

They seem to be a neutral country with less than 100 active accounts and 4% of damage that Croatia does... Or?
I didn't understand... What was the reason Croatia needs to fight Peru while bordering strongest Asteria countries...?

So why Peru?

I asked our Croation dictator-president... But it seems our CP is very busy and not a talkative person... So I'll publish his answer as soon as I get it...

I also asked the same question to the president of Peru:

OK, so it might have to do with something related to the Code...

However, there are hundreds of battles and wars all the time, so who cares?

Personal Conflict of Interests

Well, I care...
And why do I care?
Because all my weapon production is there, almost 100 companies, and I can't afford to move it, I don't have that money, and not nearly enough Reset tokens...

And so I complained about that on the channel, like an average Croat would, and then I got what I deserved...

Why did you put your production in an enemy country?, they asked...
And why are you wining about it?
You made a risky decision, so now accept consequences...
Wait, wait, wait...

Enemy? Isn't Peru neutral, at least technically?

Yeah, kind of, but not really...
They have a player community from Serbia and USA and have training wars with most of the Asteria alliance....

But what is more important, Peru holds several Bolivian regions and it is Code's duty to protect and help liberate Bolivia...

So if Croatia as the strongest or one of the strongest Code countries makes a foothold in Peru and South America, then it could take Bolivian regions occupied by Peru, create a tampon zone between Bolivian regions and asteria countries in South America and release Bolivian regions to Bolivia, finally to have Bolivia on the map. That would make sense...

Mission: Liberate Bolivia

Do you remember when was it that you saw Bolivia last time on the World map?
I don't...

OK, I've dug it up... There was something with Bolivia on Day 1196:

APOSA News day 1196

And on day 3394, when Asteria invaded South America:

That's more than 6 and a half years ago...

And what do we know about Bolivia?

Why Bolivia was named Bolivia?

In 1538 Spanish conquerors gained control of the territory. They stayed in power until 1825, when they were ousted in a revolt. The new leaders formed an independent country, naming it Bolivia after Simón Bolívar, the revolt's leader.

Bolivia's land isn't just diverse – some of its features have broken records! Located on the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the world's highest lake that's deep enough for a boat to sail on. Salar de Uyuni, found in the southwest of the country, is the world's largest salt flat.

And now with basically free or cheap tanking it's a unique opportunity to achieve that...

Code

Step 1: Croatia vs Peru

Arriba Perú - Daniela Darcourt, Eva Ayllón, Renata Flores, Tony Succar

So Croatia and other countries of the Code are fighting against Peru because Peru is holding several Bolivian regions and the Code alliance decided to finally liberate Bolivia, a prerequisite for that is to establish a base in South America.

Step 2: Tampon Zone between Bolivian regions and Asteria

...in order to be able to make a tampon zone between Bolivia and other Asteria countries, and Peru seemed the easiest way to do that.

Step 3: Release Bolivian Regions to Bolivia

That would be the last step and probably the easiest...

So it seems that the Code alliance is still alive and has some plans and that it is not only BH & SH medal farming and fighting in TW.

And in the meantime, what is Asteria doing?

Asteria

Asteria decided it is time to gang attack Croatia... So now Croatia is suffering airstrike attacks from multiple sides, by Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.

Correction: although Serbia had a airstrike war declaration law against Croatia twice on their table in the last couple of days, it seems that they were having problems deciding whether to declare a war on Croatia or Albania. In the end Albania won... I mean, the suggestion to attack Albania won, I mean, was accepted.
Yeah, I think smart... Croatia and Albania are both really hard nuts, but Croatia is a bit harder nut to crack...
---

However, we'll deal with that later, our priority remains attack at Peru and liberation of Bolivia, because Croatian players at least are determined to give everything we have to bring Bolivia back on the map.

And we are ready to organize a few epic battles in doing so...
So keep an eye on Peru and Bolivia...

So what can you do?

And if you are a player from a country of the Code alliance, I would like to raise awareness of what is going on on (I like such word repetitions) the alliance level and ask for your assistance if possible in liberating Bolivia.

And if you decide to help, before you hit, check on which side you are fighting and hitting enormous amounts of damage... As I know from my own experience as well as from other players' experience that mistakes do happen even with our best intentions... So, please, be careful next time you engage in battle...

Or if you just chose the closest battle and don't pay attention where the damage goes, please, it's important, even if you are just chasing the Weekly Challenge. In that case, at least stay in some TW and chose some other battle...

Behind the Scenes...

As in any play on the stage everyone has their part, and even behind the scene there are many diligent workers who make the magic in front of our eyes possible to unwind...

And finally, I want to let you know that, even if there are not that many of them, there are still players who care about this game and organize and coordinate battles on the alliance level. Thanks to them this game still has some traces of solidarity, unity and friendship that binds us together across the borders in this game that has long before become a relenthless and unhealthy chase for gold and self-aggrandizement...

If you are looking for a meaning in this game, feel free to join and ask how you can help...

And I don't mean just this war, but in general, on how to help your country or your alliance or other people internationally...

For instance, here in Croatia players organized themselves and meet every month for blood donations, which I admire, A noble goal to literally save lives...

Janko Fran

P.S. Has anyone perhaps some surplus of Weapons Q1-Q7 to donate or sell affordably?
My weapon and WRM production in Peru collapsed as there is a direct war between Croatia and Peru... I could still offer a limited WRM stock from the last few days in return.
PM me if interested or send your offer...
