Bye Bye Miss American Pie

Day 524, 12:21 Published in USA USA by fingerguns

I intended to have my first real article be all about PTOs, but since we just had a Congressional Election, it would make more sense to talk about that, yes?

If you read all the rags, then surely you've heard about this 'USWP vs. everyone else' argument that's been going on. Basically, the USWP announced that they were going to attempt to run strong candidates in every state so their party holds as much power as possible. I didn't think much of it at the time, to be honest. There is nothing wrong or shady about wanting to have a majority and strategizing to obtain it. As the saying goes- "That's politics, bitch."

But since the election, I've seen a number of USWP members bashing RightCON and laughing about how ineffective it was. So, let's talk about RightCON. This is part of the 'everyone else' that USWP is trying to marginalize with an overwhelming majority. RightCON is a coalition of the more conservative parties in the game, who formed a strategy for the Congressional race that looked something like 'you run here and we'll run here.' It didn't really go much beyond that and it all started maybe a week and a half ago. Some seem to think that because the USWP won any seats at all, that means the coalition failed in it's mission. I guess those people are forgetting that RightCON actually endorsed a few USWP candidates, since we felt they were the right person for the job. Also, I know the Federalist Party won every seat they went for, which in my mind is a huge success, especially considering the party has fewer than 100 members. While everyone in RightCON agreed to endorse and support Kyle321n in his upcoming run for President, it may be a while before the coalition has the strength and focus to be a serious threat to the USWP.

But that doesn't mean it won't happen, so I'd suggest that USWP members pull their heads out and stop acting like they run the world and their divinity can never be challenged. The overwhelming arrogance coming from both Congressional winners and losers in the USWP is truly a sight to behold. The name-calling, vitriol and toddler temper tantrums, while amusing, really only reinforce the belief among average players that the USWP is out for themselves more than America. I mean, really, what's best for America is being an asshole and trying to drive good players away from the game? REALLY?! And all this time I thought there was a problem with good player retention. I didn't realize that America was soooo strong that we can tell good players to fuck off and drive them away from the game or to another country. How 'bout that.

Now, I really don't want this to be a USWP bitch session. I've talked to a number of their members (officials) and found them to be very nice people, well-versed in 'how the game works.' Sure, most of the members I have spoken to came across as ethically fuzzy, but I got the impression that at least most of them are truly doing what they feel is best for America. They seemed reasonable and willing to hear dissenting voices, which is an absolute necessity in an elected official, I think. Like I said before, RightCON endorsed some of the USWP members that we felt can really do the job well. But they aren't ALL like that. There is a fringe to the party, and it would be those people who believe they crap roses and anyone who disagrees doesn't deserve to exist in the same eWorld they do. Those are the people we should ALL be going after, not just RightCON. But, if the USWP is unable or unwilling to control their own fringe, then expect RightCON to grow stronger. Your fringe are RightCON's biggest recruiters.

I firmly believe that multiple parties can coexist peacefully. There is no reason why they can't. If people can't agree on everything politically, that's fine...that's what debate is for. But I would really like to see people treating each other with a little respect, especially those in the upper echelon of this game. Surely those players have been around long enough to know that you can't get much done if everyone hates you, and no one will want to work with you if they think they're going to receive a public lashing every time a disagreement arises. I know this game is comprised mostly of teenagers, but come on, people. Grow up. There are so many places on the internet where you can be an asshole for the lulz. Why, bring it here?

If you support RightCON, then maybe you should be egging on the fringe, provoking them into full on hissy fit mode. It only makes the USWP look bad. But, I don't think that's what anyone really wants. I haven't been playing very long and I've already thought about quitting the game just because of the petty bitch fights and personal attacks that seem to show up EVERYWHERE. It is easy to feel helpless in this game, which is how people feel in real life, so what's the point? We don't need to be stoking the flames, even though that prospect is very appealing. We need to be trying to talk some sense into these members and make EVERYONE realize that we need to hang on to as many active players as possible. Just because you're butthurt about losing or pissed about the shady tactics of another player, you have to try and rise above it because we need that player!!! We need you. We need the guy you lost to. We need the person you beat. We need the guy that called you an asshole. We need all of those people.

I'm watching America crumble from the inside, and after reading all of the press from around the eWorld, it really is just a matter of time before we're wiped off the map. We have to snap out of it and start working together. We should be less concerned with kissing Romania's ass and much much much more concerned with making America as strong as possible. If we NEED Romania, then we are failing. Snap out of it.

The title of this article is for TIACHA, a great player who has recently left the game because of the personal attacks coming from USWP members. She will be greatly missed, and those who helped drive her away should be ashamed of themselves. Keep your fingers crossed that she decides to return. We really need her and more players like her.
