Today is the 117th anniversary of the takeover of Bank Ottoman. This takeover was conducted in response to the Hamidian Massacres, where the Ottoman Turkish government started pogroms to kill the already oppressed Armenian population. The action did not stop the Turkish government from massacring Armenians or oppressing Armenians, but it did gain strong Western support from America and European countries. Western countries were moved by the plight of the Armenians and the bravery of those involved in the takeover, and started to pay more attention to the region and the oppressed Christian minorities that lived under the occupation of the Ottoman Empire.

In remembrance, I will post the song called Bank Ottoman. Due to the large amount of Greek readers of this paper, I will also post the song Bank Ottoman sung in the Greek language.
