Day 1,749, 18:54 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

The War of the Balkans

Ukrainian Front
Before

After

Belligerents: Ukraine vs. Hungary, Moldova
Results: GG, Ukraine. Well, not really. But it's polite to say GG even after a one-way slaughterfest, isn't it? Ukraine looked for a miracle but didn't find one, as Hungary's occupation became total. Ukraine has paid the price for their attack on Russia, and it seems that they will not own any of their own land for a while, much less land that belongs to Moldova. No, Hungary and Moldova's combined efforts and Russia's steadfast nature have made a Ukrainian return nearly impossible unless the political landscape changes fast.

Winner (campaign): Hungary, Moldova (devastating)

Bulgarian Front
Start

After

Belligerents: Turkey, Greece vs. Serbia, Bulgaria
Results: The unlikely duo of Turkey and Greece continued their battle for the Bulgarian landscape, and has surprisingly been successful as of late. Greece has captured the western third of Bulgaria, and is moving to capture more. But things are a bit shaky on the Turkish front. Sure, Turkey is recapturing fallen provinces as soon as they are captured by Serbia. But Turkey has lost its gains in Bulgaria, and has not won the important battles to regain initiative. Turkey has cut Serbia's front to the southeast, but can they clear out the threat?

Winner (this week): DRAW
Winner (campaign): Turkey, Greece (minor)

Croatian Front
Start

End

Belligerents: Croatia vs. Slovenia
Results: The minor skirmish between the two nations has ended! After a one-time successful revolt in Serbia that broke the Croats free, Slovenia tried to snuff out the Croat effort. But Croatia defended its lone province and started an invasion into Slovenia. The Croats retreated to their new Southeast Asian headquarters, but have their foot in the door. The two nations are now at peace, but Croatia adamantly holds onto a northern Slovenian province. With Croatia migrating back to the Balkan region (see below), perhaps the two nations will see a rematch in the near future.

Winner (campaign): Croatia (minor)

Serbian Front (Revolts Only)
Start

Belligerents: Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Serbia
Results: Yes, the dissent has risen once again! In light of Serbia's massive battle with Turkey, the Croats and Bosnians have rekindled their efforts for freedom. Serbia's tactic of allowing revolts to build a lead before rushing troops in the 11th hour has been questionable. While Serbia has managed to put down most revolts, three Croatian and one Bosnian province have already been recovered by EDEN forces. Though it's clear Serbia considers the provinces easily reclaimable, for the moment Croatia and Bosnia are winning their independence wars.

Winner (this week): Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Winner (camapign): Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Argentinean Collapse
Before

After

Belligerents: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil vs. Chile, Bulgaria, Paraguay, Peru
Results: Chalk one up for the defense! Right? Well, if there's anything clear, it's that Argentina has a lot fewer invaders. The problem is that the one remaining enemy is channeling the strength of all its allies. But back up a bit. Argentina and its union member Bolivia successfully knocked Bulgaria out of South America, spoiling its apparent plans to move its HQ near its allies. Paraguay was the first CoT nation to fall, and Brazil cleaned up Peru in an orderly fashion. But long-dormant Chile has been tanking, taking the southern tip of Argentina (off-map). It's a duel to the death to decide who is *is shot*

Winner (this week): Argentina, Bolivia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): Chile

The Alphabet War
Before

After

Belligerents: Finland vs. Estonia
Results: 4 provinces left. 3, 2, 1,...2, 3, 4, ugh...The monotonous war continues! Finland had pushed Estonia backed to a lone province, but Estonia got the backup it needed, and pushed back the Finnish army. As of now, Estonia is on the offensive, currently recapturing the last Finnish base in Estonian lands. When it falls, the natural borders will be renewed once again, and the previous 30 days will have been for nothing! A fresh new start! ...sigh...

Winner (this week): Estonia (devastating)
Winner (campaign): DRAW

MINOR WARS

Portuguese Resurgence
Before

End

Belligerents: Portugal, Canada, Ireland vs. Spain, Poland
Results: Canada, you have indirectly caused the wipe of Portugal. How? Canada attacks the UK. Poland attacks Canada in defense of their ally. Poland wins a few battles, and uses the chance to flank Portugal while they're busy battling the Spaniards. Ireland tries to help relieve the load by attacking Polish France, but as expected, the plan backfires miserably. And what is the end result? A dead Portugal. YOU WILL BE AVENGED!!!! (Just not today)

Winner (campaign): Spain, Poland
