An eAustrian Monarch?
Ludoviko la Nepreparita
Greetings citizens of eAustria! I’m sure by now, most of you have read my proposals on the idea of having a monarch: The Kaiser(in) of eAustria/ der (die) Kaiser(in) von eÖsterreich.
While it has had some opposition, it has also had some supporters, which is why I’m writing this article today.
The last time I proposed this idea ( here ) I mentioned that the eUK’s ‘Monarch Week’ gave me the idea for eAustria. They have had this program for a while now and to my knowledge it has done very well.
Since then, eBelgium has created a similar programme within their government and in my last article I even had the honour to interview Queen Mittekemuis of eBelgium. She explained to me how eBelgium had decided to have a monarch and what she does as Queen of eBelgium.
Despite these two countries’ successes with their monarchy, we as eAustrians need to make the decision for ourselves.
Austria (not eAustria) does in fact have a monarch, no official one but they still follow with the line of the Habsburgs. Karl von Habsburg is the current Archduke of Austria. His Father, Otto von Habsburg died recently (4th of July) and you can find his face on the reverse of some Euro coins.
When I last proposed my idea in an article, I heard that we might need to have a constitutional amendment in order to have a monarch. I read over the constitution and this isn’t necessary for two reasons. First, the eAustrian constitution says nothing about a monarch or any similar figure. Second, the monarch is not (in my idea) going to have any political power and it is simply separating the jobs as head of state (the face of eAustria) and the head of government (the person who has the power in the government).
In conclusion, I believe that having a programme to have a monarch with different social events run by a government organisation will add something extra to eAustria’s culture and will help us become more well-known and in turn, help immigration.
I would appreciate anyone who has read this idea, to please take [url=this poll. [/url] Both eAustrian citizens and non-eAustrian citizens can take the poll as there are sections for both. Also, there is a space for comments or suggestions there so if you have any you can make them.
Thank you so much for your attention!
Jeanlouis

question: Who would take the position of being a monarch in eAustria?
I don't know. That's up for the country to decide after we decide to have a monarch in the first place I guess.
"Austria (not eAustria) does in fact have a monarch, no official one but they still follow with the line of the Habsburgs."
It's actually illegal to use any title of nobility in Austria. The family Habsburg-Lothringen still calls their children "archdukes", but that's of no importance to just about anybody - except those usual RL monarchy freaks. Fun fact: "Archduke" was created by the Habsburgs themselves a few hundred years ago, when they faked an "official" document to give themselves a better sounding title because they were miffed not being an elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
(And the only Austrian Euro coin I found with the face of an Otto on it is one with Otto I. from the 10th century.)
Of course I realize that RL monarchy and the one in eRep are different and I'm not against it here. But I'm also not in favor of an eAustrian monarchy. In the end, it most probably wouldn't hurt, but I can't see the big benefit for our community and therefore don't think there's a need for it.
I like turtles.
Turtles think that food is more important than a monarch.
Voted, filled out the poll.
hmm.. interesting idea
monarchy is as usefull as a milk bottle without milk
I would gladly take up the position, if offered.
But that's just me, and I'm not all that active currently.
