How dumb can you be, America?
💀
This is pretty insensitive but I do agree that if someone at the school was armed it probably would have mitigated the situation. The problem is that people are defenseless at school, so either arm the teachers or have a police presence.
So you combat gun violence by arming more people?
Don't you see what a vicious circle this is?
The right to bear arms, right!
Never learn, America, never learn!
I agree with you on the police part, but arming the teacher? That's an entirely different story.
I am of the opinion that a certification program would be sufficient for teachers that voluntary. Most people know of an AG teacher or a PE teacher that could reasonably be armed. I am not suggesting we arm all teachers because most teachers probably would not feel comfortable with it.
Yeah, I think some kind of program like that is enough, more or less the solution to the mass shootings that is commonplace now.
There was at least one armed guard at the school bte

There haven't been that many school shootings in the US this year. That stat is counting gun-related incidents, like a guy who killed himself in an abandoned school parking lot:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/no-there-havent-been-18-school-shooting-in-2018-that-number-is-flat-wrong/2018/02/15/65b6cf72-1264-11e8-8ea1-c1d91fcec3fe_story.html
I said 8, not 18
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/feb/14/school-shootings-in-america-2018-how-many-so-far
But preventing access to weapon (especially to "young" people) reduces also success of suicide attempts.
And I'm happy to live somewhere where 8 school shootings and 18 gun related incidents in school in less than 8 weeks "[isn't] that many"...
V!! 😁
(Guns) h'uh
Yeah!
(What are they good for?)
Absolutely (nothin) uh-huh, uh-huh

Guns don't kill people.

My preference is certainly an axe.
No one blames the car manufacturer for the drunk driver. I can safely say that none of my guns have gone on a RL shooting spree. On stage while performing is a different matter... but those are Hollywood blanks.
My preference is a spatha, or a katana.
And in my RL news feed this morning: "Shooter kills 4, wounds 4 with antique hunting gun in rural RUSSIAN town."
Russia: A country known for its crack down on civilians with guns. Guns are not the issue. ANYTHING can be a weapon. I've proven that. Better yet, the Ukrainian Protesters/Russian Invasion proved that a couple of years ago. They were building medieval siege weaponry and tearing up pavement for ammo. Pulling pipes from buildings for weapons, and using ANYTHING for shields and armor. I'm sure the situation was much worse than what little video leaked out of the situation. Sadly, it's a new (and not necessarily better) world that that we live in.
And sadly, people reported this guy, no one did an investigation on him. I live in a US community where I can safely say, the police are not here to "serve and protect," but here to "frame and benefit." Speaking as someone who was forced to attend Police Training Community Sessions (and should have been protected by Whistle Blower laws), our local police want to stir and escalate situations so that they can run freely further. So, this could have been prevented or curbed had the people that the initial reports to, had done their jobs..
Aha! Wonderful story coming out of China, that's being smothered. Guy KILLED approximately 18 people at a train station with a MACHETE, The resulting stampede caused an additional 100-or-so injuries.
According to the NRA, the most commonly used weapon is a building hammer purchased at Home Depot. The screwdriver is on that list too. Personally, my wife and I have been attacked by our stalkers with a 2x4 that was 4.5 feet long, a shovel, and an axe handle.
We also had a person try to rob our museum/visitor's center with a little utility knife... he didn't realize that we had conceal and carries and had just finished doing re-enactments... so, we were really armed-to-the-teeth (and dressed in 1880s frontier cowboy)... and proved it. The robber pretty much peed his pants and ran. As the Robber had tried grabbing a volunteer's purse a few days before, the cops still did nothing but berate us (as we were ultimately screwing up their pay bonuses). Our cops were extremely disinterested and the Robber was never caught knowledge (one of few good councilmen looked into it), but the robberies stopped.
Let's get to the point, where our stalkers were/are vandalizing our property as a part of their "domestic terrorism"... and the local cops told us that they were not going to investigate because they felt that we were "celebrities" (a term that we've never used to describe ourselves) and that we legally own guns. So, by their own statements, we are left without police services and several U.S. Constitutional Rights just got violated.
But, my point is that are we also going to require all people to pass a background check for building supplies and gardening tools? A whack-tard will find a way to weaponize anything. Guns for self-defense are unfortunately necessary.
Rosa in Serbia. Ouch, you have to learn how to use their guns now...
