A Tree-Hugger in Chile
Coyolxauhqui V
Hello eIreland the wonderful!
I hope tonight lots of cute e.baby e.Irish are popping into e.existence, making the future or our mighty e.nation glorious and fun... or give us some more movement and e.friends at least. hehe!
😁
So, I need some endorsements people, as everybody does thanks to the Spring Missions.
I would like to show you a couple of sights I saw in the past months, in my trip through the south of Chile. I love trees and, wow! there sure are some amazing ones over there. So, a little photo show with small explanations about what these wonderful and extremely old trees are is my attempt to get you guys to endorse my article.
😁
Or at least, enjoy the beauty of these trees...
1. Araucarias
These are a very ancient class of trees, this particular species, the Araucaria Araucana, was contemporary to the rise of Dinosaurs. It is a species that currently is adapted to its site: the ancient forests with steep mountains of the south of Chile and Argentina.
This is a close up to a branch of an Araucaria Araucana, this is how they grow.

2. Alerces or Lahuens
These trees grow a bit more South than the araucarias we just saw. If you go to the national parks just before the Islands of the South of Chile start, you can see Alerces 3500 years old. Yeah! Before the whole Judaism-Christianism-Islam issues even started. Yeah, that tree was up and growing even before the Real Plato was on this earth.
They are the second oldest living trees in the world. Their wood is very much used to make houses, as it is very resistant to water.
A young Alerce, just a bunch of centuries old.

They are indeed, and they are part of the Indigenous people's diet, the Mapuches. The go well in minced meat empanadas.
Nice...
