A shot across the bow of the Nation.

Day 1,467, 22:11 Published in Canada Canada by Muglack

The issues with Canadian politics aren't nearly as complex as those from the outside looking in think they are. In fact, when it's boiled down the problems are quite simple.

The first step in assessing the problems with the Canadian political system is to look at the Country itself from the ground up. Canada's population, for the most part, is old. A huge portion of our population exceeds a year old, and an even larger portion has been eAlive for 2 or 3 years. There are tons of names I recognize that are still active from when I started playing (nearly 1000 days ago) and in general that is not a normal occurance in this game.

With that age comes a certain way of thinking. This of course can be easily equated to real life terms by way of the racist grandfather. Everybody's met one, or is related to one, and while he spits his diatribe of hate you can't do anything but shake your head and say, "He comes from a different time". Well my friends in terms of the eWorld eCanada is that racist Grandfather.

But there's another thing that comes with being a "racist Grandfather" and it's that along with being close minded, we're also incredibly set in our ways. We aren't willing to do anything that we haven't done before. This of couse is a source of incredibly strength for your country, but at the same time also causes weakness.

Traditional strength fares well agaisnt traditional problems. Someone in our community steps out of line, we have a history and proven trackrecord to deal with them. Someone steals? Dealt with. Someone releases information they shouldn't? Dealt with. This rigidity and foot in the past is an immense resource when we need to deal with a problem we've faced before. Someone does something we don't like that someone's done before, the "Oldball Collective" gets together and deals with it the same way we always have. That's the advantage of being "Oldballs", we've dealt with your kind before.

Now this tactic is great and completely successful until we run into something we haven't seen before, or something we haven't encountered in so long that even the "Oldballs" don't know what to do with it. This is the case with the current Romanian PTO and the breakdown of Canadian Politics in general.

This current election has seen 6 to 8 (depending on who you ask) PTOers elected to Congress. An incredibly high number for a first month. Assuming only 50% more seats next election for this group they could end up with as many as 12 of 40 seats next month, which puts them within striking distance of Congressional Control, and access to our Treasury.

What was the "Oldballs" solution to this looming problem? Well it was the only option they could do, pointless shouts, and articles after the fact that did absolutely nothing to stem the tide of foreigners getting elected.

You see for the "Oldballs" community, reactionary tactics have always been enough. You steal, we punish. You leak information, we punish. You act a fool, we punish. Where in that is pre-emptive action to stop the damage instead of relying on tactics to mitigate it? Nowhere.

This brings me to Party President elections. MOO has forum voting for their Official candidate, Ethel names herself PP despite the calls for democracy and the CPP elects her, EPIC is a mindless horde that clicks the name most familiar, Rolo is elected the same way, and well, the UN is the exception that proves the rule.

You see, with the exception of the UN and MOO the Top 5 parties apply "Oldballs Logic" to their PP elections. Do what we've always done and people will pick the person they always have.

This of course reaches a logic-fail when it comes to congress. There's simply too many dimensions to assume that people will click the name they always have so things can continue like they always did.

Sure there's your guarenteed Congressmen despite not earning or deserving their spots (Pimpdollaz in Ontario under EPIC is a perfect example of people voting for a name in a party, not a candidate that does a good job) but for the most part at the start of the day on the 25th 32-35 of the Congress Medals are completely up for grabs.

This is where the "Oldballs Community" completely loses it's grasp on reality. Living in relative peace for so long eCanada never had to develop a strategy for congress. We simply put up 50 to 130 names and let the cards fall where they may, and accepted it as "The eCountry's Will" and played with the hand we were dealt.

Well this month we learned that no longer works. By doing what we always have 6-8 "invaders" got medals that the "Establishment" thought they didn't deserve. We have interlopers amongst us that the high and mighty deem unworthy of such rewards. And what do they do to stop it? Well they write useless articles, and make pointless shouts that have no effect, the same as they always have using their reactonary tactics.

Well I for on don't believe in Reaction. I think it's time this country took action.

I call on the Party Presidents of the Top 5 parties to sit down and make sure this doesn't happen again.

I want the "Leaders" of this country to work together and form a plan so that eCanada isn't forced into this position on the 25th of December.

I want those who are responsible to make these decisions, to come together and work on a strategy that keeps Canada safe and doesn't subject us to the whims of outsiders simply because you aren't willing to cooperate.

Canada as it stands today has 13 regions. That's at least 2 regions per party, and 24 wildcards which can be split anyway you see fit.

Don't let your delusions of grandeur blind you to the needs of the nation.

In the coming month I want to see the parties working together to elect quality deserving congressmen and women that will move this country forward, not 33 people that happened to win the 5 gold lottery and do nothing but collect their medal and show up again next month and hope their party affiliation is enough to win 5 more.

You should be working together to see quality congressmen elected so that we as a nation win, not working against eachother so that you as a party prosper while the country fails.

This isn't a call to arms of the citizentry of this country, it's a call to arms of those with the power to actually enact change.
