A Proposal for Loyalty

The people have spoken, haven't they? They don't want to end up being in a nation that only looks for bonuses at the expense of our greatest friends. The results of Venoms' alliance poll make it very clear. Although we've left EDEN for months, Terra's fallen apart, and Congress has passed several MPPs with nations outside the norm (Tem's playground and Bulgaria ok, but Paraguay?! If Paraguay had passed it...), Canada as a whole still wants to stick by their good friends, which I for one applaud. Venoms' poll revealed some specific nations that the people wanted to stick by.

Besides America, which I'll address specifically in a later article, those five nations aren't hard to understand. Though I'll never claim that France or Ireland is some sort of superpower, they are some of our closest allies, nations that have repeatedly given us support, risking their own demise just to help us. How many times have we worked alongside France to ward off the UK? How many times have we partnered up with Portugal to save us both from Spain, even after we left EDEN? They are by no means the strongest nations in the world, but they have been good to us for years, and they've trusted us throughout our political chaos, like true allies. We must show the world that we're not a leech seed that latches onto the strongest nations just because they're the strongest, a nation that switches sides when the going gets tough, but that we're loyal friends and allies that can be counted on.

Heck, I'll even tack on a couple of nations to that list. Australia, our brother in the south, was a nation I always considered part of Terra, even though they never officially joined. We shared great relations with them, and though their geographical position made them less of a direct attacker than some other nations, they were always willing to support us and fight alongside us when we needed that extra push.

Our other Terran allies, Russia and Cyprus, have always been good to us, even during the times when all hope seemed lost. While we never established extreme bromances with them, their friendship for all these years has been invaluable. Even as they explore their own possibilities, we cannot simply ignore the great things we have accomplished only with their help. Although we may not share the same relation with them as we have in the past (Russia's conflicting interests and possibly cutting Cyprus' MPP to save some funds), we are forever grateful for all their support, and hope to work with them in the future.

I'm not gonna tell everyone to do this or do that. But I think that the nations I mentioned, the nations that Canada has stood by through thick and thin, deserve our loyalty and friendship. They are our brothers and we've helped each other through even the worst of times.

They have stood by us. I won't go out and say, "Let's form an alliance with them ASAP!" (though that'd be pretty cool), but I think that Canada will indeed say, "Let us work together with our friends, the ones that have helped us when we needed a hand, and fought with us when we needed a push." We're in a 'dating' mode, trying out new alliances and seeing which ones will work (and which ones will come back to haunt us). But at the end of the day, these six nations have stood by our side, and are willing to continue to do so. Will we do the same? It's our move, Canada. Make the future you we want.
