Ministerial functions

Congress Member EPThompson asked a question in Congress about some reports on Ministries:

For the Government to provide an overview, for each Ministry, of what it shall be doing over the next four weeks.

I must stress that the Cabinet is in no way responsible to Congress and is certainly not subject to Congress oversight. This is not the RL USA!

Nevertheless, the government is happy to provide Congress with a brief overview of the functions of each Ministry. We do not propose to provide an exhaustive outline of government activities but are happy to answer general questions.

The same member of Congress asked a separate question about Northern Ireland. The definitive answer to this question was provided in my mid-term report halfway through the last term:

There was some fervent discussion in Congress and a widely read and supported article in the media about the situation with Ireland regarding our core region of Northern Ireland.

It must be stressed that the geopolitical situation is now vastly different from what prevailed three years ago, when we were subject to threats, intimidation and outright aggression by Ireland and its allies. A temporary agreement was put in place back then but this has long since expired.

We now have good relations with Armenia, which occupies Northern Ireland, as well as many other Training War arrangements with multiple countries. None of our TW partners would be happy with any aggression from Ireland should we assert our position on the region. However, brash assertiveness on our part is not likely be of any assistance.

An even more important consideration is the economic welfare of our citizens who have factories in Scotland. Unnecessary disruption of that arrangement is definitely not in our national interest.

This is the government’s final word on the matter and no further questions on this will be entertained.
