[UK]A day at The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Day 3,617, 02:50 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

I promised Madeline a few lines about what it is we do at the department of Foreign Affairs. I thought to be smart for looking up old guides I wrote back in the day but reading through them I only got depressed. The Foreign Affairs Department was so much fun with actually having a team of ambassadors going to foreign countries, making reports and reporting back to the Minister who then put their work into an article....Yes, yes I shouldn’t do this, it is not good for the game or the community to always look back at what was yet I can’t help being nostalgic at times.

Onto what we actually still do when we open the game as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

1. Opening the game every single day
When you choose to be part of the Government you choose to be a very active player. The rest of the Country depends on you to put in as much effort as you can to make it better and more agreeable for them.

I can only speak for myself of course but here is what I do every single day while in foreign office:
- Scan the feeds for interesting shouts
- Scan the news feeds for interesting articles
- Open the administration page for those Countries that have a direct influence on our Country and the more interesting to follow on the moment.
- Check our MPP status and discus when or who the CP needs to propose or if I need to go ask them to renew.

2. Be part of external chat sites
Some people will argue it is not a must to do so but I am from a different opinion. Yes I do a lot of my diplomatic work ingame with personal messages but sometimes it is just much easier to have a live conversation to sort out a good deal. For example: when talking one on one you know instantly more who your are dealing with and if that person has authority and skills. With PMs talks are seldom done directly, they have more time to think about their answers or pick someone else's brain before answering. So you never know who you are really talking to.

Being part of countries chatrooms is also good for getting to know other players better and by doing so making the circle of people you can contact bigger.

3. Writing articles
A good Minister of Foreign Affairs should write 1 article a week with updates on what has happened or decided on in their own Country and about the fait divers around the world.
Best would be to include prntscr of the feeds that were interesting for all to see and of course links to the best articles around the world of that week.

4. Be informative and open for discussion with Congress
This is a tricky one because when dealing with war or alliance situations there are always things that are vague. Some things when they get out too soon can be totally get screwed. Even though Congress is not always lively, most do take the time to look in. Once information is out in the open it spreads pretty fast.

On the other hand there is the fact that Congress has been elected to be part of the decision making population and without information they can’t make decisions and soon will be either rebellious or oblivious to what goes on the Country.

Writing this I came to the conclusion I am not at all a good Minister lately. Maybe someone with more inspiration and dedication can come join me for the article writing part. In return they get to see the dark and mysterious side of Foreign Affairs 😃
