[THC] Ireland Invades

Day 1,268, 19:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ullok

After months of promises and trolling, with a successful NE proposal making it through the vote at 13:6, hours after a similar vote failed across the sea, Ireland attacked the eUK yesterday.

The battle, which saw both the Irish and British Armed Forces tactically fighting against their country ended with what may seem as a confusing loss for the Irish when they secured Wales: 8:0.

With the sacrifice of the region when the Irish are forced to attack again they will lose mutual protection pacts with the USA and Brazil. This will be short lived however as re-signings have already been initiated and are currently finding support on all sides.

This was no surprise from the USA, with the less than tepid relations between our two countries, but Brazil’s CP, a country dubbed “brother” just over two weeks ago, who had seen their fair share of British damage even with Northern Ireland occupied, proposing the MPP (giving Ireland gold for tanking against us) was. Especially given the fact that Ireland are allied with a Poland who have only recently been evicted from their shores with British help.

This move, along with the reasons the eUK left TERRA, has shown that whilst our former alliance claims to be separate from EDEN, old grudges, like the conflict we are entering into, are stupidly perpetuated to a point where nothing but the acronyms change. The political landscape remains as polarised as ever, pushing the UK ever further from TERRA and closer to ONE.

Yet again the UK’s purported neutrality is threatened, as the government finds itself trapped between EDEN/TERRA and ONE: fair game to both and defended by neither with any real conviction if it came down to us or their alliance member, and the eUK has its enemies in both camps.

The only course of action left may be to make a new group of friends, as even the Strasbourg Treaty probably won't hold under pressure from TERRUSA with agressive ONE nations on the doorsteps of both France and Germany. That is unless they leave TERRA, as has been suggested in the wake of their latest peace treaties.
