{RSU} Oct/Nov Congress Election - the end result

Day 3,264, 05:32 Published in Australia Thailand by Revolutionary Socialist Union

Greetings eAustralia,

Well another congress election has come and gone, we had 75 votes cast and several eAustralians were elected.

We would like to say congratulations to all new and returning congress members, now let us look at the facts and figures behind this election

ADP Congress Results

The ADP ran 7 candidates in this election. All 7 members got elected into congress for this term, however Janvin stepped down shortly after being elected, leaving the ADP with 6 congress members.

They manage to secure 16 votes (21.33% of the cast votes), with a party base of 18 members.

APP Congress Results

With 10 candidates running in the election, the APP manage to secure 19 votes (25.33% of the votes cast), this was with a party base of 25 members (Currently the largest party in eAustralia). From these votes the APP managed to get all of their candidates into congress.

As well as securing the largest percentage of candidates from all the parties.

ARP Congress Results

The ARP was the only party to not get all their candidates in. They ran 4, but only managed to secure enough votes for 3 of them. this was due to receiving the lowest amount of votes (6 votes for 8% of the voting).

KHMC Congress Results

The KHMC like most parties, managed to get all their candidates into congress. This ensures they have 7 candidates in, representing 21% of the congress vote. They managed to do this by securing 22 of the votes (29.33😵 which is the most votes for any party. If they had more candidates on the ticket, they would of also gotten the largest representation inside congress as well.

RSU Congress Results

The RSU will be represented by all of their 6 candidates as well. This is after they secured 12 votes (16% of the votes cast). This makes their representation inside congress the same as the ADP at 18%.

Majority Power or Coalition

eAustralia has not had one party majority in congress for quite a while and yet again it appears each of the top 5 parties have a small share of the power. However if we look at the numbers:

We can see while no party has a clear majority, if a coalition is formed, one of the minor parties could in theory control congress. For example if the ADP, KHMC and the ARP joined forces, they would have 50% of the theoretical vote (however if players do not vote on party lines, this percentage could be lower or higher).

While this could force some votes to sway, more importantly are effects a coalition could have on the next CP race. If we look at the current numbers and take into account the need for 66% (22 votes) of the vote for an impeachment, in theory, the upcoming CP election could be over turned one day after the votes are counted. To continue with an example: ARP runs a candidate, the APP, ADP and RSU team up, they could in theory impeach the elected CP (depending on people voting along party lines).

While in RL, this plays a big part in our 2 party election system, it is yet to be seen if it will effect the game at all (unsure if it has happened in the past or in another country). However we hope that every congress member and party president plays fair for the benefit of our enation. But it does highlight the question on how much control/influence PP's have on their party members (both with law proposals and CS passes once dictatorship is over).

Upcoming CP Election

While we are on the topic of Congress power and the upcoming CP Election, the RSU is calling for potential candidates. This call goes out to all:
1) RSU party members
2) Non-Party Affiliated citizens
3) Other party members either endorsed or not endorsed.

If your interested in getting put on the ticket or having the RSU back you, please get in touch with one of the politburo members of the RSU.
