[NEWS FROM THE FRONT] Asteria forces triumph on Day 1!

Day 5,237, 13:26 Published in USA USA by Tito Magnus
Yesterday marked a great day for the forces of freedom as the United States and its allies in Asteria launched a series of successful strikes against CODE forces across Europe. From Ostersund to the Bosporus, allied aircraft and ground forces routed their CODE opponents and liberated formerly occupied Asteria territories while simultaneously repelling a series of withering CODE counterattacks. The war against CODE reignited on two fronts, in Sweden and in Turkey.

THE SWEDISH FRONT

The war against CODE reignited with a massive U.S. airstrike on Ostersund in the region of Jamtland Harjedalen. This was followed by rapid follow-up attacks by many other Asteria and friendly nations. Spanish forces stormed Scania while Portuguese forces secured Smaland. Iranian military units successfully attacked and captured Bohus while Romania broke through CODE defenses into the Swedish heartlands, capturing Gotaland and forcing the entire CODE defensive line to shift eastwards to center on Stockholm. Croatia, once occupying most of Sweden, has been forced to concentrate on its final holdout in Stockholm, with Croatian forces bracing for an inevitable final assault.

With most of Sweden liberated, the nations of Asteria have paused to fortify and consolidate the newly liberated territories. Sweden, once on the verge of being wiped off the map by conquering CODE forces, has instead been revived as a vibrant and active member of eRepublik and of Asteria as a whole.

THE TURKISH FRONT

As Asteria forces pushed Croatia and other CODE forces out of Sweden, a series of rapid Asteria hammer-strikes fell on Turkey, a major CODE nation. As CODE scrambled to secure its defenses in Sweden, Turkey was caught completely off-guard as Asteria forces opened a second front in the war.

The Turkish front opened with a Serbian attack on Turkish-occupied regions in Belarus while simultaneously Ukrainian operatives unleashed a Resistance War against Turkey in Turkish-occupied regions there. While Turkey fought to keep its holdings in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria launched a massive attack on Turkey’s core territories, specifically attempting to capture Turkey’s Aegean coast. Iran also sparked a Resistance War in its Turkish-occupied territories, spreading Turkey’s military even thinner. With CODE forces unable to aid Turkey due to the attacks on CODE-occupied Sweden, Turkish forces committed to defending their home territories, practically abandoning their occupied holdings in Eastern Europe. As a result Asteria forces quickly secured Turkish-occupied territories in Eastern Europe.

The fighting in Bulgaria’s assault was without a doubt the fiercest of the day’s battles, with dozens of aircraft engaging each other in the skies as Bulgarian forces on the ground fought to break out from their beachhead and secure the territory itself. Turkish resistance was fierce, however with significant U.S. aerial help Bulgarian forces forced Turkey to abandon its positions and secured Turkey’s Aegean coast, a devastating loss for Turkey and a major victory for Bulgaria and Asteria.

Simultaneously, U.S. operatives in Montenegro sabotaged a training war between Turkey and Montenegro. Montenegro attacked Turkish-occupied regions in Mexico as part of a routine training war, however Turkey, faced with real battles elsewhere, did not dedicate any forces to defend their territory. Even as Montenegro forces attempted to call off the assault, U.S. operatives in Montenegro attacked the territory, leading to an unwanted Montenegro victory evicting Turkey from North America.

WRAPPING IT UP

All in all yesterday marked a great day for the United States and Asteria as our forces liberated an ally while simultaneously evicting CODE forces from several regions of the globe. While we have won the battle, we have yet to win the war, and the U.S. and Asteria needs every active citizen to fight for the final victory! Together we can restore peace to the world in the name of freedom and democracy!
