Makedonija and Bulgaria are doing pretty well on eRepublik this past year,
time to ask them about their success, the current situation, a possible future (with baklava 😛) and a word about their country IRL.

I decided to interview gal & guys who influence or influenced the Foreign Affairs of their country,
and who are some of the coolest folks in dah place.

(1) Mario: Hello, and thanks for answering this interview.
Could you please introduce yourself RL -- if it doesn't bother you -- and IG -- for the n00bs who still don't know you ?

MattrimCauthon: My My name is Georgi in real life but friends call me Perrin very often 🙂 I work in the IT for a big american company.. The usual. As for IG well nothing much to say here too. I have been playing for a long time and my original acc is Perrin Aybara. This is my 2nd one. Both accounts are named after a book characters from the same book

Old 7: Old 7 ingame, famous tank both ground and air, and well known bulgarian politician (i guess or thats what i heard).Also i heard that i am famous troll. IRL - 24 year old guy (almost) who works as bank consultant in glorious city of Varna, Bulgaria. If you have seen my shouts most of them are completely trolling anyone, because the game is made for fun and thats what i do.

Severrus Snape: Hello eWorld, my name is Goran, I am 22 years old, and I am a studying International Trade at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, Macedonia. In game, I am named after my most iconic character in the books of Harry Potter, Severus Snape. Since few years ago I began involved in politics, and since then, for like 2 years I was in almost every Government as either MoFA or President of Macedonia, and I achieved my mission, a strong and free Macedonia, after the darkest period in our eHistory.
Lately, for like a year now maybe, I distanced myself from the politics and official positions in Governments, as I feel there is nothing more for me to achieve, except for deleting eUSA of course.





(2) Mario: You're enjoying a large territory now and a lot of bonuses. Life seems good for you. What could your country expect more ?

MattrimCauthon: More? Well I wish that internally we would have better organization and the ePolitics to be not so much like real life politics :/

Old 7: Having large territory is made from a lot of hard work of me and a lot of other people from some countries. We worked hard to gain our allies and becoming close friends with them. But still its hard to keep that regions, Greece is hard enemy which can't be wiped forever. And from last events they may get serious help like they did few days ago.

Furious Lady: In erepublik usually Macedonia was always on the oppressed side. This is one of the few ingame historical periods when we are in such a good position. Players are thirsty for fighting, the community is revived, as you said life seems good for us atm 😃
What can we expect more? I don't know tbh. We gave up long time ago on waiting improvements in the game, free packs are never going to happen, master cards will always have some kind of "leading" position and that's it.
As a community now we can just work on improving relations with our allies and hoping to keep the current track.

Severrus Snape: I don't really know actually. I don't think we expect anything more than we do today.. Personally I just hope and expect for us to keep up this ratio of activity and power.





(3) Mario: About Greece, you're old enemies in this game, and you occupy them since several months now. Will this conflict never end ? Do you think a peace process is possible ?

MattrimCauthon: I hate eGreece with passion. Our wars started back in 2014 when were in Aurora. It all started to free Macedonia and we are in and out of war with them. We managed to force a 3 way NAP back in 2015 After the NAP ended Greece has managed to stab us in the back several times while we were busy elsewhere. This time we decided enough is enough and made it our missison to delete them and get their bonuses so they can not stab us in the back again. As for peace... Greeks did not contact us for peace or anything like that this month. As for previous talks as far as I know.. they held themselves as they were the ones that are winning so.. yah they are pretty arogant.

Old 7: We were very good allies, a lot of old players remember the BulGreece friendship, but things change. Now we are enemies. We tried to change things, because at that time Macedonia was wiped for over 2 years. Sadly we failed at that task so we did what we do best, fight until we win. And so on. I don't think we will find peace solution which will fit both sides or at least we havent found until now.

Furious Lady: We had NAPs in the past with our southern neighbors so i believe it's not something impossible to reach it again. The conflict could possibly finish when they actually communicate with Mkd+Bg together (not one by one) and ask for whatever they want, in this case their freedom. I cannot give you something if you not ask for it, right?
Macedonia was years and years under their occupation so we've been in their situation and we know it's not easy. Also we are aware that cannot keep them forever under occupation but now they get exactly what deserve 🙂

Severrus Snape: I am bored of this conflict to be honest, and for me its a total waste of time and resources. While I was active and in power, I did all I could to maintain peace between our countries, and avoid any conflict that could result in and endless war, as we witness today, and many, many times throughout the history.





(4) Mario: You've prove yourselves reliable these past years, and a strong country. This would deserve you a board leader position in any alliance. Why this choice to remain without alliance ? Would you like it to change ?

MattrimCauthon: We are better like this anyway. We have close allies like Macedonia and Spain and Asteria is always there when we need them. I personally just do not see the NEED to be in any alliance at the moment. Having Spain, Macedonia , Romania and Serbia as friends is enough at the moment 🙂 And many others. Hail Asteria 😃

Old 7: For me personal the thing with alliances is useless, because it combines only few countries to work together. Yes this sounds like good plan, have few top allies who you can trust, but for my point of view you don't need alliance to do that. There are many countries which you couldnt excpect to do amazing things for you in times of need. Thats what we are doing, or at least i was trying to do, be friend with as many as possible countries and see what happens.

Furious Lady: Last time I, personally, tried to create an alliance was Nexus. We wanted to make it to make sure we all stay together. Also to keep Chile next to it's bros (at that time). But for creating stable alliance with strong foundation need time. We were missing it. A lot. One thing led to another we just made it worse. Bulgaria - Chile broke, Macedonia and Spain were trying to repair the mess but everything went to hell.
These events has huge impact on our decision to stay as we are now. Loyal allies no need alliance to proof themselves 🙂 Also when time comes i am sure we will find our place in some stable alliance or create one without hurrying. Until then we are one big happy family who sticks to each other.

Severrus Snape: That is correct. After Aurora, we tried and failed to create our own alliance consisting of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Chile, Indonesia and Spain as core members. To me, this was a desperate attempt to keep the bond with Chile alive, even though in that period they began distancing themselves with official negotiations and laws with greece, our enemy. This of course was an obstacle, and unfortunately, we cannot force anyone to be with us against their will. Chile has made their decision, and we made our peace with it. Surely there were many broken hearts after it, but hey.. at least we have the memories of it 🙂
Choosing to remain without alliance is because currently the balance of power, and allegiance of certain countries is not yet defined, thus we feel better floating free and without official alliance for now.





(5) Mario: Who do you consider your best allies ?

MattrimCauthon: Spain and Macedonia. Especially in Spain we have a huge friend in the face of Old Bilbao. He personally saved our asses this month single handed. Romanians and serbs are also very good friends but for the longest time Spain and Macedonia are with us. Indonesia too. They followed us when we decided to become pro Asteria 🙂 This is real friendship

Old 7: I havent seen if bg has full stack of mpps but i would say BG MPPs are my top allies + few more countries.

Furious Lady: Bulgaria, Spain, Indonesia are our long time brothers. Also i believe i should mention Romania and Serbia as our new besties 🙂

Severrus Snape: This is the question I dislike the most in every interview, to be honest. I really wouldn't like to point names, as all our allies hold a special place in our heart.





(6) Mario: Your old friend, Indonesia, is under occupation of USA and Sweden - two Pacifica members - since last week. What's your opinion about this situation ? How do you think they can walk away from this ?

MattrimCauthon: If USA keep asking for a beating they will receive one! Last time 2016 Morpheus kicked USAs asses and we almost went mainland USA if Greeks did not attack us in the back.

Old 7: I had to stop playing more active when the war against Indo and the following against UK started. As i see both countries are wiped from our enemies and another one is on our border. So fun times are coming. I am not sure if Bulgaria will attack directly or not, but i am not fan of letting anyone of my friends alone.

Furious Lady: We will not just stay calm watching them occupied. What i can say is there are some plans, lets see what will come up from it. I am trying to understand USA why are they provoking us, but i guess they are just bored. We need to remind them on some parts of their not so famous history 🙂

Severrus Snape: I am quite sure that eMacedonia and eIndonesia have the oldest brotherhood in this game. It dates since the ONE alliance, and before that, when Macedonia was added to this game, and even when we were not added to the game, Macedonians had a community inside eIndonesia, which resulted in long lasting brotherhood between the two nations. Macedonesia forever ❤
About the attack, this is not the first time that alliance attacks eIndonesia.. and if history taught us anything, eIndonesia will be free whenever. My opinion is that, the brothel that likes to call themselves an alliance, made a big mistake with attacking eIndonesia, but time will tell.
eIndonesia has our unconditional support, and they shall be free once again.




(7) Mario: Balkan is a complicated territory to deal with, but this game allow us to draw different path than in RL. What would be your opinion about a Balkan Alliance in game ? Would you like to see it happen ?

MattrimCauthon: IF there was a Balkan alliance it would be awesome 😃 Everyone without Turkey that is hahaha I would make peace with Greece even.

Old 7: That topic is very old in erepublik, i've read many articles and been even in several talks about that. If we consider that every country who has even 1% of its territory in balkans, this alliance wouldnt survive 1 day. Very likely even less.

Furious Lady: I was always joking about that Balkan alliance but have to admit it's very good idea.... except its impossible to survive 😃 We would kill each other on the first common meeting we make 😃 Imagine 10 women in period fighting each other 😃 That would be the soft version of our temperament figures fighting like it's the last thing to do in life 😃
Anyway if we imagine that hypothetical Balkan alliance i think we could be enough strong to rule the eWorld or at least make some balance in it. We are too stubborn and proud to give up on our ideals.

Severrus Snape: To be fair, Balkan is the only reason this game gained such popularity and may be the reason it still is to this day. BUT as you said, this is a game, and we have the possibility to create alternate reality for our countries, so in that regard, I have always desired a Balkan alliance in the game, yes. To be more specific, if there was to be a Balkan alliance, I would like to see Yugoslavia united once again. I think that would be an undefeatable force in this game. Unfortunately, I do not see it happening.

(8 ) Mario: What would you say to convince people to visit your country ?

MattrimCauthon: In real life? Welll.. our alcohol is cheap and the girls are easy xD Also.. we have beautiful nature, mountains and sea. There are a lot of things to see here 🙂

Old 7: I dont have to say anything. Bulgaria has amazing beaches, mountains, nature, culture, history, people, cuisine and so on. One of the first civilizations were established near Varna. But it would take me years to finish telling you things why you should visit Bulgaria, so i would stop here.

Furious Lady: We have tasty food, very good rakija and heartwarming hosts ready to drink with you anytime you desire. And we have many unique interesting places to visit.

(9) Mario: Would you teach us a word or a quote from your country ?

MattrimCauthon: Балък лозе копа, юнак вино пие .. Fuck me if I can translate that correctly..
This one is also good I may be able to translate it: И сам войнът е войн. A warriors does not stop being a warrior even if he is alone. 😃 My translation skills suck

Old 7: My personal favourite is : "Тихите води са най-дълбоки." - which translated into english would be - still waters run deep. This is used for people mostly or i do it 😃 . But the idea is that the silent people can do a lot of things while the ones who talk shit wont do anyhting. This is how i use this proverb. And again i can say you many things, but i wont 😃

Furious Lady: The first thought after reading this question is: Што си посеал, тоа ќе жнееш. Meaning (according google): What you sow, you will reap.

Severrus Snape: I will give you two quotes from one of the best Macedonian authors, Petre M. Andreevski. This one is from his book from 1980, named "Pirej" (Couch grass). This quote is about the couch grass, but indirectly the author thinks of the Macedonian people:
„Племето наше е пиреј и не го ништи ни една војска! Ама ти колку сакаш кошкај ја, корни ја, куби ја, таа пак не умира. Само малку да се допре до земјата и пак ќе оживи,ќе потера. Ништо не ја ништи таа трева!“
Translation: "Our tribe is couch grass and cannot be destroyed by any army! You can dig it, plumber it, it will not die. Just a little touch is needed to the ground and it will come to life. Nothing can destroy that grass!"

„Пријателот ти е роднина кого самиот си го избираш“.
Translation: "A friend is a relative you choose yourself."
