[GBDP] A message to all GBDP members!

Day 2,038, 12:05 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Fill Werrell

Evenin’ lads o7

First of all let me apologise yet again for the absence of myself at the meeting I scheduled for Monday evening. I’m immensely grateful to those who turned up anyway who set about discussing other aspects of political e-life and made the most of the occasion.

So, as I assume the majority knows, last term CheetahCurtis declared the party dead, and to be fair rightly so. Our famous friendly core had split up, with jny123 having gone to New Zealand (correct me if I’m wrong mate 😉), Sekula Vasiljevic switching to New Era (not sure I’ve got the right party there but I gave it my best shot 😛) and Bob Bloggs having gone to set up his own party in an attempt to further his political career. I was two-clicking every few days due to exams and there was little for those who remained in the party to do. We lost a drastic amount of members starting off with about 31/32 members at our peak and then went on a rapid downward spiral, leaving us with 5 members within 6-8 weeks, most notably CheetahCurtis and Novarefuge. We were no longer a true political party, we were a ghost of our former selves. Some of the laughs we had had, Bob running for CP (which coincided with me joining the party) was one of many highlights, as well as Sir Nick Griffin’s attempts to lure me back to the UKPP shortly after joining the GBDP. It’s safe to say that there is no party that I would rather have been in or be in.

In the run up to the election on the 15th, we had Sekula rejoin the party and announced his intention to candidate himself for PP. I was delighted that we were immediately able to agree that we would fully support each other, regardless of which one of us was elected. We experienced the shock, but extremely happy return of jny123, who the party has always appreciated on a grand scale. The party had retained the ever-loyal and ever-great CheetahCurtis and one of the funniest lads I know, Novarefuge. After realising all of this was actually happening, I remembered. These were the kind of people who made the GBDP great, who made it fantastic, who made it the best political experience I have ever come across. And that, is why I want you to follow me into the new age of the GBDP, to reform the party and to say to all those who laughed at us and said we would never be good enough, just you wait and see! We can be the party of the future, the party that makes the eUK great, the party that unites the country and makes it a better place for every single one of our fellow citizens out there. We just need to keep at it, put plenty of effort in, but most of all, have some fun! There are many people out there that are nowhere near your capabilities who have achieved great things in-game, so imagine what you are capable of! You know what, f**k imagining, show me, show the eUK, show the entirety of eRepublik what you can do, shake it to its core!

So here is what I propose:

1. A new party name. A party that is rising from the ashes needs a fresh start and a new name is one of many ways to go about it. I’ll be posting a link tonight, where you can propose a new name for the party. At 7pm tomorrow, there will be a 24 hour ballot of all the entries to decide the name of our party as we go through a reformation.

2. Some new logos. Along with a new name, new logos go without saying. As we did once before, I will be setting up a 72 hour contest in which you can submit your choice of logo, you can make your own design or use other resources for this. These will then undergo a 24 hour ballot. Also, graphics such as banners and advertisements are much appreciated but will not be put up for ballot as there is no need to pick one design in particular as it is good to have different options when writing a party article or publicising the party.

3. Political Orientation. Whereas I feel that the current orientation is suitable (centre-right, libertarian), I would like the party to have the final say. This will be decided at the next party meeting (TBA).

4. Policies. As with the orientation, I would like these to be decided at any future party discussions on IRC.

5. Fun. As the PP of this party, I declare that we must have as much fun as possible in doing the above points. Having a bad time is not an option 😉.

So there you go, that’s what you missed on Monday evening. Before I end this article, I’d like to address each of you individually.

CheetahCurtis – Wow. Just... wow. The commitment you have to this party is absolutely astonishing. Honestly, I reckon it was your presence that scared Ryan off PTOing us at our low point. In our darkest hour, you were still there, and you know what, I never doubted that that would be the case. I’m sure you will be with us for a long time to come. You stubborn b*****d. 😛

jny123 – You absolute f*****g legend. In the hours before I joined the party, after I had left the UKPP, the GBDP caught my eye (for reasons unknown but whatever they were I’m glad) and I messaged you, asking what the party stood for. As I far as I remember, you hadn’t even written 50 words (compared to exactly 1401 words in this article) and you had me persuaded. I know you want to get involved in politics in RL and I’m 100% sure that if you have a tenth of the determination that you have on here then I’m sure you’ll go far. You’re a top bloke and I was elated when you popped up on the feed to subtly announce your return. So 😉 to you too. And you’d better stay this time. 😉

Sekula Vasiljevic – I’ll tell you what mate, I reckon it was the moment that you left when we realised that we were a dead party. The feed went eerily quiet and #gbdp became a ghost channel (see what I did there?). You being back contributes further to the fact that we are no longer a dead party, we are a party reborn from the ashes. Good to have you back mate.

Novarefuge – Move over Russell Howard, Michael McIntyre and the rest, there’s a new funny bloke on the block and his name is... well he insists that it’s Loki so let’s go with that. Whenever you’re around, the fun to be had is even better (and my IQ gets lowered by more than a healthy amount 😉). Stick around mate, just as you have been doing.

TERAMIND98 – I’ll tell you what dude, you’re one tough cookie. If you can survive what you have been through then I’m pretty sure you’re invincible. In fact, I declare you to be TERAMIND98 the Invincible! Or The Invincible TERAMIND98, whichever you prefer 😛. Good luck mate and let’s keep going forward together!

Murdersaurus and Adastros – I’m not gonna lie, there’s not much I can say as you two have only been in the party for a few days. What I can say though is that you seem to be great people and I’m sure you’ll have a huge contribution to the party in the future.

Myself – You’re a sexy beast, it goes without saying 😛

Yes, you are finally at the end, sorry I dragged on a bit, but hey-ho, I can be sure I’ve missed nothing out (I hope?). Come on lads, let’s do this!

Yours truly,

Join the GBDP today and forge/further your political career!
