Join the new world

Greetings, I'm Ullok (hopefully some of you will recognise me, or all this is pointless). As you may or may not know, we are coming up for another round of elections. This time it is for Party President (PP) on the 15th.

So here I go, throwing my hat in the ring.


If I decide to run again I’ll move away from the statues...

I have played the game for 3 years and 4 months and been an ESO member for almost a year and a half. In all that time I have held a few prominent positions, but have never run for Party President.

So why now?

I asked my magic 8-ball and it said “Looking Good”.



Why am I suited for the job?

ESO believes in the value of every one of its members, and so do I. Reporter, philosopher or banker, each has their contribution to offer and a good idea is a good idea no matter where it comes from.

I also believe that everyone should have their voices heard. Whilst I’m not prone to rash decisions and will strongly back my position, I try to be respectful of the opinions of others and I am always open to another way of doing things. So long as it would benefit the party and the nation.

ESO has a wide and diverse community, and it is a shame it had fallen by the wayside. The altruistic arbiters of the eUK still have a place in the wider community and I want to continue nurturing the resurgence we have seen of late so that we can continue to grow together as a party, meet the next generation of members and see the next “rainbow club”. Because after all it is the people that make this a game worth playing.

What to expect

jamesw has done an excellent job these past two terms, but there has been so much change in that time we need to see what the consequences are before we can proceed.

If elected I will endeavour to continue his legacy by encouraging activity and recruitment, but the policy making will be less proactive.

ESO was founded as a response to the polarity in UK politics at that time, and whilst the sides may have changed, the division remains. Those who know me (or have read my article) will know I believe that a nation can only grow if everyone pulls in the same general direction. As PP I would want to encourage cooperation and healthy debate with all other parties.



Whilst jamesw has agreed to be my VPP and Elle Roslin has consented to stay on as SG, ESO is once again encouraging you to get involved with your party.



To that end I am opening up applications for the positions of Councillor and Spokesperson should I be elected. These will not just be titles to adorn your page, they come with some work.

Councillor

ESO Chief Whip, without the threats or plebgate.

Offering members of Congress (particularly the newly elected ones) guidance, reminding them of policy and of good practise, all whilst writing articles (when appropriate) on how and why ESO Congress Members voted or anything else people might find interesting about the life of a Congress Member, which are then published by the Spokesperson.

Experience in Congress is vital for this role, but it need not be current.

Spokesman/woman

The ESO BBC: Educate, inform and entertain.

Primary responsibilities include encouraging, editing and publishing official [ESO] articles from yourself as well as aspiring and inspiring party members, whilst monitoring and responding to the ESO feed and maintaining the 'Did you know' posts.

An applicant will need their own paper, or at least the 2G to open one (available from jamesw).
