[CP] Leadership

Day 2,078, 18:27 Published in Belgium Belgium by Kylero

My fellow eBelgians,

Leadership

I would like to take this opportunity to discuss leadership. The picture you see above you is the Leadership Jigsaw puzzle. In this article, I am going to explain how I view these essential puzzle pieces, how I have represented them throughout my eLife, and why you should select me to be your next Country President!

Empowerment
Empowerment is the process of increasing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes. Central to this process are actions which both build individual and collective assets, and improve the efficiency and fairness of the organizational and institutional context which govern the use of these assets.

I view each and every eBelgian as an asset. We all come from different places (Belgium, France, Netherlands, UK, USA, etc.), we come from different age groups, and we all have different educational backgrounds that can be harnessed to build a better eSociety. We may have different opinions on how to get there, but we should pool our assets together and work as one.

As CP, I will foster this pool of talent, get to know each and every one of you personally so we can become an effective and strong eSociety! As Aldous the Meek said, "If you are eBelgian, you are my friend, you are my family, you are me and I am you."

Vision
Vision is a picture of the future that stirs passion in you. Without a clear vision, we falter and fail. We become prey to the whims of a few who want to do things their own way. When we, as an eSociety have a clear and unified vision of which we can measure our progress against, we will stay true to ourselves and our future. During my time in eBelgian, longer than many of you have been eLive, I have always been a visionary. I've sought new ways and new ideas to reign in normlessness (anomie), and to build a future that we own.

As CP, I plan to conduct visioning exercises that we all can share our input on how we view eBelgium and what our future should look like. I mentioned the Comprehensive Plan for eBelgium about a month ago, and that is something I'd like to continue pursuing as your President.

Communication
Communication is the process of transferring signals/messages between a sender and a receiver through various methods (written words, nonverbal cues, spoken words). It is also the mechanism we use to establish and modify relationships. That's the key word. Relationships. No, I don't mean that kind of relationship. What I mean is that all of us spend our free time on this game, and many of us have known each other for quite a while, in some cases, years! Most of us know very well how to communicate (type), but sometimes we forget how to read the between the lines our messages, and how to find common things we all can agree on. I've seen it happen quite a bit that people will debate and debate, and once one of them says a certain thing in their clarification, they kiss and make up and we move on, quickly. As a player, I have always said that there's nothing we can't accomplish when we see the reasoning behind the message. We are often stressing over the how, rather than the why. Let's work harder at communicating the why.

As CP, I will be highly approachable to new ways of doing things if they are consistent with what the community wants. I'm very pragmatic, and tend to evaluate all the facts when making a decision on how best to move forward. You won't get a shoot first ask later kind of President if you elect me.

Example
When you lead by example, you create a picture of what's possible. People can look at you and say, "Well, if he can do it, I can do it." When you lead by example, you make it easy for others to follow you. Do you think that Alexander the Great's soldiers would have fought so hard for him if he had sat on top of a hill, safe from the battle? Probably not. He would have been just another average general in our history books, instead of the example of a successful leader that we know today.

As CP, my government will lead by example. We will be transparent in our activities, operate within the law at all times, and set the standard for all future governments to come. Mark my words.

Relationships
The first step is to identify the specific areas of difference. Many people see things in terms of rights and wrongs. "My way" is right and therefore "other ways" are wrong. When a situation is viewed through this lens, a power struggle ensues. When, however, a situation can be seen through the lens of difference, and a position is simply a matter of opinion not fact, then cooperation and compromise is possible. Identifying and understanding differences allows people to shift their position to one of compromise and negotiation. I have worked hard to work with others I sometimes disagree with. Its not that I get frustrated with them thinking differently then I do, but rather that sometimes they say one thing but do another. Integrity is key.

As CP, especially at times like these, building and improving relationships in eBelgium is key to a strong nation. We can be one, and I will do all in my power to see that this happens!

Motivation
Motivation is not a program, it is a personal approach to dealing with individuals. Each person is likely motivated differently and in varying degrees. The key to motivation is knowing your people. Many of us are here for one or two reasons, and we have our own personal ambitions. How does a leader motivate individuals? They listen, they react, and they offer the tools to allow others to carry on and succeed.

As CP, I seek to help every player reach their goals. Maybe you like politics, well, there's always a way to get involved, moving people into different positions to build their skills. Maybe you like the military. Would medals, recognition, soldier of the week programs motivate you to succeed? Perhaps you want to get rich. Will a safe and secure eBelgian market help you? Personal business loans? Where there's a will, there's a way. I hope as CP, I can show you the way.

Conclusion
So these are just pieces of the puzzle. A good leader should exhibit all of these qualities and recognize how to harness the power in everyone. As CP, my goal, first and foremost, is to be a good leader. I recognize leadership when I see it, and will stock my cabinet with strong and persuasive leaders in their respective categories. You can rest assured that you'll have a CP that thinks more than just month-to-month, but instead cares about preserving our eSociety and setting a vision for our future!

Love,
Kylero
