First Month: eRepublik through the Eyes of a Newcomer

Day 4,713, 03:21 Published in Turkey Turkey by Selim Omurtak
Foreword

Greetings,

I have recently published an article concerning my first month in the game, and it has received a great deal of acclaim, for which I am quite honoured if I may be humble enough. Following this, a certain prominent figure of eTurkey kindly requested for this article to be translated into English so that a wider audience can be reached, including the management of this very game. As per requested, I will boldly, yet paradoxically humbly, attempt to translate my article into English. Please note that the article critically narrates my very first month as an eCitizen of eTurkey without technical details but more or less the "feeling" of it.

After you,
SO.

Hello,

As the game has almost grown into a teen in high school, I, similar to the eCountry politicians, putting aside the individual efforts of some here and there, do question the logic behind being a new player amidst all the systems that are implemented for the purposes of catching up to the older players, and/or the very systems that I believe to have been requested in order to do so, mean little to nothing.

I am not familiar with the history of this game which seems like an interesting idea as a whole. I have no idea about what is going on except for some hearsay news here and there, yet I can make some guesses accordingly. It seems that it has shared the fate of the known P2W systems that have blinded many mobile/browser games for years. I am not to criticize the friendships of skeleton crews of eCountries that have solidified their bonds through years. I am also not to question nor condemn those who have paid for which and what. However, accept it... You are bored and tired, aren't you? At least, it is what it feels like for those watching afar.

I am sure you are right. You may believe that you gain nothing beyond the friends you have made, and think that the reason behind the seemingly official departments of the country not stepping up for anything innovative is a reflection of a large scale movement. There may be some steps, yet I and other newcomers may not be aware of them. I gave gathered and realised, from some unofficial articles here and there, there is apparently a significant protest against the game management.

You have passed years as the active players are quite old game wise. You are experienced, it is obvious. I am sure there have been quite a number of players coming and going battle shouting bits of freedom and glory over the years before descending into absolute silence in a couple of weeks. Well, firm experience tends to turn into cynical pessimism and disappointed idealism. The only thing that I can see through articles and country feed tabs is that this country looks like a saloon of an abandoned western town.

I am not sure what will happen next. I can recommend that you use social modules more professionally if you want a more vivid gaming experience. I may request that you strive for better; rather than certain individual efforts, you may follow a more collective mindset for the newcomers. As experienced players with years under their belt, it surely is easier to mock and ridicule blokes saying "hey guys, I founded a party, let's change things" before plummeting into failure and silence. However, if you consider a future for this game, want a more active player base, dream of an atmosphere in which communication is constructive and mending, this, my friends, is not the way.

I have spent a month in the game. I am training, working and learning. I am going to wars and hit when told accordingly. I am not sure what more I can do, really. I am not saying there are no people trying to fix the very position that we are in. I believe they are doing their best. It is also redundant to say "let's take everywhere". Even without any regions, I think we can be more active, and inform people what is actually going on within important modules of the game through articles. Oh, by the way, could you please stop hitting millions in D1 so that we can get some BHs since we hit with rocks and stones.

Take care,
