When money comes first

Day 3,011, 13:55 Published in USA Netherlands by Redi Jodikku

Dear readers, today I’m writing to point out something quite obvious but that most of you probably have not realized it yet. You all know that last month we had a huge war against 4 countries at the same time (we did not fight them all directly, but that was their aiming). As expected, that meant a huge expense in COs from our side, an expense that we wanted to replenish as fast as possible.

To do this, we firstly passed a law to increase the work tax, the tax that more revenue gives us, from 15% to 18% , after just one day we decided that it was not enough, and we went for max taxes, 25% in work tax. I have to say that no big country has such taxes, most part of average to big countries have their work tax between 3% and 6%, being very rare the cases where those countries exceed that tax.

The strategy seemed reasonable to the majority of the congress, but I’m afraid they did not take into account the (not so)long term effects, a lot of players leaving our country and moving their big farms and TP damage somewhere else. You just need to take a look at the graphic.

Remember that the first increase was 21 days ago, between the 26th and 27th. Take into account that I'm not talking about "dead" citizens but about people leaving and going somewhere else.

Accumulated graphic of departures minus people joining in the States in the last month

The numbers are clear and they can’t be worse, more than 44 players left our country recently (more have done it, but this is the net rating as also some players have arrived). A community can’t be based on money, it should be based on a participative player basis and a healthy community, with those exaggerated taxes we not only kept farmers outside of our borders for a long time already, but we are now kicking ours out, to a more sustainable economy. But that’s what happens when we are too greedy and shortsighted.

We have an incredibly important comparative advantage, we have full bonuses in our cores, which means a lot of stability. That stability could be bad for soldiers and part of the community, but definitely not for the farmers.

Maybe it’s time to think again where are we going and where do we want to be. It’s still not too late to switch our model.
