What This Presidential Election Needs to Be About

Day 2,168, 18:39 Published in USA USA by irule777

America is facing a period of recent success. We've beaten the PTO, (Which I meant to write an article on praising Melissa and Frost and simply haven't gotten to it yet) we're getting regions back through a deal with Poland, we've got a new top 5, and we seem to be on a high. This nation is basking in a light of relaxtion and momentary glory, but the issue is, it simply can't last long.

Presidential elections are now approaching and I'm sure today there will be loads of candidate announcements (I'm excited to see who's running, personally), but I think as we start going to the primary polls, the nominations, and what not, we need to keep something in mind.

America is facing major internal losses

While some of our recent population and voting decline is, of course, the PTO'ers leaving, lots of it is standard citizens as well. Just in July we had over 8,000 players, as of right now, we're dangerously close to falling below 5,000. We're losing population, and our voting numbers are down significantly in the last few months.

I'd like to see the next President focus more on the interior, education, and internal orientated departments than anything else. While we still need to do work in State, Defense, NSC, etc, our internal situation is concerning and needs to be addressed.

It's difficult to raise the population of the nation, everyone who's ever tried knows that very well. It's hard to get new people in the game. But we need to spend time focusing on capturing every new person who joins more than we are now.

Interior has been inactive this month and much of last until Arrden took over, Education is doing well but could certainly always use attention, and I'm not aware of very much being done to promote activity, to be frank (other than the IRC program, which was originally Interior's, and, as I would know through the experience of founding the program, it helps but isn't massively successful).

We need to work on our internal situation immediately. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next President plans on addressing the situation, and I'm hoping they'll be putting a strong foot forward in this area.

(And of course, less population means less damage, influence, etc, for you military people out there 😛)
