USWP and the February eUSA Presidential race

Hi, I'm Scrabman ... the current Party President of the USWP. Just recently I've had some inquiries into whether or not I would be willing to run for eUSA President against the incumbent Justinious/MedyPi ticket. There have been some concerns about Justin's absence this week and with the fact that Justin's biggest rival is perennial candidate Uncle Sam running with an enemy of the USWP as his VP (William Shafer).
Actually, the inquiries came late last night and I've always told my Party that I would try to do whatever they asked of me to the best of my ability. I told them that I would let them investigate whether I could or should make a successful run at the Presidency this term. I also checked with many of the other eUSA political party leaders to get their input on this matter before deciding that I would not be willing to run at this time but that I would prefer to let Justin/Pi run their second term and I will try to run for eUSA President in the next election under the USWP banner for the first time since Roby Petric won the office when I was still new to eRep.
This decision came for several reasons. One: I've been trying to determine, with the other major party presidents, what their position will be for this election and I was somewhat aware that their decisions have largely been reduced to Sam and Justin. Two: I had wanted to run a longer campaign that would give me the chance to develop my positions as well as those of the USWP and doing that in 3 days isn't good practice and isn't fair to anybody. Three: while I was discussing some of these points with some party members in IRC today I had to go discuss the USWP position with Sam in my role as Party President. The conversation was somewhat blunt and direct and I would not want anyone to perceive that I was abusing my role as Party President to the largest party in the world to sabotage the elections at this late date.
On that last note. The USWP Executive Board has been discussing who we want to nominate for President for this coming election for about 2 weeks. Many on the EB have been torn about the choice as both Sam and Justin have their admirable qualities. Both have been long-time members of eRep and understand much of the mechanics of what makes things work. However, Sam has chosen William Shafer as his VP and this is entirely unacceptable to the USWP Executive Board. Mr. Shafer has done everything he can to work against the USWP including manufacturing scandals that tarnished the name of the USWP during the war with France ... a war that was a disaster that Mr. Shafer was in charge of. For that simple reason alone the USWP will not be endorsing the Uncle Sam/Will Shafer ticket so long as I am the Party President of the USWP. This is a decision that the Executive Board has made in principle and that I'm making now for the good of the Party. This is why a Party President is elected ... to make these hard decisions even if they may be unpopular.
The USWP Executive Board has not chosen a candidate for endorsement purposes but the only viable candidate left is the Justinious/MedyPi ticket. My personal opinion is that Justin is the right man for the job with his intelligence and his understanding of economics and foreign relations. However, the USWP has not formally made a decision to endorse him yet. The decision will be made soon and I hope that my announcing that I am not seeking the eUSA Presidency this term will help with that decision being finalized so that I can push the button to signal our endorsement soon.

--What have I not finished? I said I would make our military better. I did that. Everything else that I said I would is in my Vice-Presidential campaign. Now I may be off my rocker here, but I believe that I can't exactly do things from my campaign promise unless I'm elected

I find it VERY hard to believe I once belonged to USWP. Shafer hasn't well...done anything to harm USWP. He hasn't created anything. All he has done is prove USWP was talking with the French. Im extremely angered that USWP can not see past the fact that Shafer isn't a fan of USWP. But this is the world of politics. Your own goals go before your country.
Armandez, you must have missed out when Shafer accused the USWP of being traitors. It not just the fact that he called them traitors it that he resorted to scaremongering. If you want more reasons just read my newspaper articles.
Armandez ... really? Shafer offended anyone who was, is, will be USWP with some of the things he has said. I have no problem with him as a general, but I don't want him as the Vice President of the United States no matter how politically advantageous it may be.
yeah Will did his fair share of damage, which I don't approve of, because as you remember I supported the USWP back then. The point is, I'm not getting the nomination, I'll live without it.
I plan on winning, even if I don't have their support.
Military wise Shafer is sound. Politically he does his fair share of political maneuvers and not one of you can EVER claim to have not done things to advance yourself politically or further a goal. In my opinion what USWP did in the background of France was despicable. Its one thing if its a French Citizen, another when its the President. This is all past. We need to forge our future. Whether we forge it with blood or whatever it needs to be forged with unity. Shafer is one of the best people I know who is good at that. See past his past and see what he is capable. If Sam can get past what Shafer has done can you not?
We all need to stop blaming people who done bad things. Shafer is a distinguished person. All he wants to continue is to make eUSA a better place.
Shafer You ran to Russia when it got tough with France. Then Chile were you ran back here when it got tough. What else won't you do? I don't want to be around when you run from the VP spot.
I actually don't hold Shafer's comments against us personally, but I believe our military failed under his watch in France and I also see his actions in moving to Russia as flaky, at best.
To be fair it was not Williams fault we lost in France it was mostly because of the disorganization in Atlantis.
No one said it was solely his fault but he did bail out and move to Russia. That is something we can not have as a leader.
Your ignoring the Green factor. He's the only alternative to your problem. And with the USWP endorsement it would be anyones guess who wins.
The USWP is not going to endorse the Green Party. Sorry. I can confidently say that as a citizen of eRepublik.

Voted. The Justin/Medipi ticket is our only option this term. I would consider supporting US if he had chosen another VP, but that is not the case...

Uncle Sam could of easily won this election if he went with Gobucks as VP again. He still has a good chance of winning but this is a huge risk.

Few things to say to this
I did not *Run* to Russia. I took a train to Alaska, visited PrincessMedyPi, then swam across the Bering strait, then hitchhiked from Norway to Russia.
It was tough in France from the beginning. We had stopped all battles before I decided to leave, and when I went to Russia I had planned on being there for only a few days. After some deliberation with Russian citizens and other world leaders, I decided it would be a good idea to try to sway Russia towards Atlantis, then the Romanians started to act like morons.
I've made it very clear that Chile was not a personal gain. Again, it was an attempt to bring another ally towards Atlantis. The US had planned to send someone to Chile to get a good American foothold there. Well there wasn't even a handful of choices. Two, actually. The other choice was on the cabinet, so I had to do it.
Running from the VP spot, eh? Why would I do that? Because *you* don't like me? You really need to look back on eUS History. Look into the true reasons I did things. You'll find that I was, ultimately, working on behalf of the eUSA or ATLANTIS.
Things were bad in France, not because of me, not because of Benn Dover, not because of USWP - but because of a lack of cooperation on the part of ATLANTIS as a whole. Please, do not try to place blame on someone just because you don't like him or her. Get your facts straight before you go around making an ass out of yourself, aight?
It is not a matter of like or dislike it is a matter of respect. You do not posses the temper nor the follow through needed for this job.

Justinious did a good job stabilizing the economy, but what we need now is someone to fix the military and stop PEACE from dominating like they have been. Will and Uncle Sam have military and diplomatic experience.

Harsh pyro, our parties are soposed to be in an "Alliance". That kind of party-line politics is what kills all bi-partisanship.
Shafer is no longer the VP nominee. Does this change your stance?
USWP wants Justin to win so they can field a candidate next month without an incumbent although I don't know anyone in that party who would be ready to run for president.
