Treaties Designed to Humiliate
Vyrin the First
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Anyone remember the Treaty of Versailles?
Our recent treaty unfortunately is launching us on a similar path. Why? It contains a section purposefully designed to humiliate, part 5.
V. RW in Any Chilean held Australian Regions not officially released
In the event that an RW is started in any Australian Region, the Australian Government will within a 24 hour period or as close as possible, order all Australian Forces to fight for Chile to ensure it remains in Chilean possession until officially released.
Think about it. Chile does not need our help in RW's. If they did, we could reasonably fight to take our territories back. Nor do they need a guarantee of our faithfulness to the treaty since we deposited 200K to demonstrate this.
All this does is add a sadistic and masochistic flourish that delights aggressors and continually enrages the oppressed.
There was simply no reason for this to be in the treaty.
Those in the government who want to make agreements going forward at the very least should learn the lessons of history. Our next government should work to strike this from future treaties.
Remember who used the humiliation of Versailles to great effect! You don't solve a problem by opening the door to a larger one.
See the result of the Treaty of Versailles here. 60+ million results actually.
Enough said.

Interesting, I wonder what Chile has to say about that?
Of course it could well be that they DO need our help to put down RWs,
that they are over extended & if we kept doggedly fighting we may well have been able to free ourselves.
if it is as you said Vyrin - that they do NOT need our help, then it IS a sadistic & arrogant act,
even "giving" us 3 separated regions is just more of the same.
Join the Resistance!
this treaty is nothing but a license for this government and puppets of the tyrant invaders to betray this country morally and spiritually. Aussies fighting for the invaders against eaustralia in rw's is an act of treason. You all should be ashame of yourself!
death to all infidel traitors puppet of the invaders!
the catch 22 is that MU's are getting no funding cause there is no income... good luck trying to control them. I know where the 501 will be.

Soooo if we've got ToV here... eAus = next eNazi Germany?
Who will rise as eHitler AC? WHO
Well we know who the Stalin is
and we also know who the oldfag is
But it doesn't make sense, XG is for CoT and the Treaty, HE CAN'T BE THE OLDFAG HITLER!
Louise is that person at a party that always takes it a step too far.
The eAustralian people must stand up to this government who just wants to give eAustralia away and fight for our land back! If we win or lose, It does not matter. What matters is that we give it out best shot.
Hey Callumh, another "witty" one liner that contributes nothing.
You are on a roll.
However in all seriousness, why don't you write an article on what your plans for Australia are & how you plan to go about it.
Who knows, if you & your mates explained your objectives & methods clearly people may even agree with you. But you never do, its always dodging the question, "blow off" answers, insults & "witty" one liners.
It would be nice if you adopted a constructive approach

Louise Brooks well said dear.
This government has to understand that this is an unconstructive road toward the worsening of the crisis and by encouraging it's own people to lift their swords against it's fellow patriots is definitely the biggest cowardness and treason for it's nation.
Soooo if we've got ToV here... eAus = next eNazi Germany?
@Louise Brooks: Why You voted YES for the treaty. which You hate so much?
I hate the treaty Greg, I hate the alternative worse. And I hated to be put in the position of choosing between dumb & dumber.
However this is not just myself playing - there are other people playing as well.
So what does one do, play without any consideration for others or abide by a democratic decision.
The treaty that Xavier Griffith drafted, that he stitched together from very poor material, was the best we could have hoped for. I only wish he could have been allowed to participate earlier.
Remember that the decisions a senator have are Yes, No, Abstain. The damage was done before anything ever got to the senate to vote on
" Well we know who the Stalin is"
Yup.
@Greg - there are many already trying to audition for the role of Der Fuehrer. Look at the news.
it's the aussies who liften their sword to smash the australian egovernment's work who should be identified as betrayers. They are spitting on eAus honour and word...
Louise: You ask why for the 5th article? It's very simple... if this article wouldn't exist, what difference would there be for eAustralia having signed the treaty or not? You guys try to be real smartass, and would sign the treaty, get 3 regions for free, and continue RW's on Chile like there would be nothing?
C'mon! Tssss... don't insult the inteligence of most readers!

I could ask you the same as CoS, are you just going to be another person who just wants the title? I wouldn't expect any less really.
If you cannot understand our strategy after all the times I have explained that just really does prove the notion that you are in fact thick as bricks.
A real Aussie would... er ....fight against Australia. It is a complete joke.
"If you cannot understand our strategy after all the times I have explained that just really does prove the notion that you are in fact thick as bricks."
no you haven't Callumh - like I said "blow off" answers & insults.
You claim to be a diplomat. Diplomats are diplomatic i.e. they explain their position, they rally people to their point of view. They don't take a personal one on one approach - they would have thought, geez if she thinks that, then I guess there must be others thinking the same.
A diplomat would have welcomed the opportunity to put their point across & said something like "well this is what we think because etc etc - where do you disagree with that?" And by reason & logic you would have either backed me into a corner or converted me/us.
See my point Callumh?
And Manrod, yes you think we are smartasses & don't trust us. Hi Friend
problem with them (the so called eaus elitist) louise is that they think they know what's best for all of us without even asking us the citizens of eaustralia for opinions and make some sort of agreement where everyone can be happy. This culture of intellectual snob will always be the down fall of this nation. It's put up or shut up.
I'll tell you what's the greatest power under heaven, and that is public opinion--the ruling belief in society about what is right and what is wrong, what is honourable and what is shameful. That's the steam that is to work the engines.
GEORGE ELIOT, Felix Holt.
The whole argument about the treaty is getting a bit out of hand. Yes the deal is unfair for us. But it is the only way we will get our regions back. We no longer have the allies we once had and fighting by ourselves against chile and its allies is impossible. Here is a perfect explanation written by scotty.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/my-take-on-chile-australia-situation--2187967/1/20
We must think of eAustralia's future and not just think about our pride. Both CP candidates agree that the treaty is the best way. Why are people still carrying on?
Eventually we WILL get our regions back just not all at once.. So be patient people!
problem with that roboz is this treaty made it worse. not like we already good at fighting each other but putting it on the mandate that we should do is just not acceptable mate. yes we get a couple of states back but the price we have to pay for it is far greater than we have gain.
No, the price that we would pay if we kept fighting would be much greater. Because we would NEVER win. Honestly. I dont know how people believe that we will eventually win if we keep fighting.
This way we get a couple regions.. Yeh its not great. But we will gain more regions diplomatically. Until we get them all back. But at least we know we WILL get regions back.
Remember. It took 3 years to get rid of eIndonesia. And we had our allies behind us. We are on our own now. How long do you think it would take to get our regions back just by fighting?
" But at least we HOPE we WILL get regions back." There I fixed it for you Roboz.
I hope we do as well. Its our only hope now isn't it. The diplomatic solution.
At least the situation is looking a bit brighter now
Firstly, the elitists who passed this treaty are all sitting in Senate. You voted for them, mate. Ergo, you are the elitists you decry.
Secondly, try understand the clause from Chile's perspective. Can Chile hold the regions without Aussie cooperation? Of course. Do they want to? The entire point of the treaty is to free up Chinchilean forces to fight for their alliance in exchange for Aussies getting a nod for succeeding in being very annoying and getting a congress elections in return. This is not the bad clause. It is pretty standard for rental agreements and non-aggression pacts.
Does this mean the average citizen has to fight for Chile? Of course not. All it says is that Australia will use the ADF to honour our word, by agreement, and ensure that no misguided zealots out for Patriot and Battle medals screw our prospects for a negotiated freedom against a foe with superior numbers. Don't tilt the balance over 50% in a battle and its all good. You get your medal, a congress, and more resource bonuses than having no country. Think with your head and not your heart.
^ Well said Majester.
There's been alot of talking and not enough thinking.
If we show that we can be trusted and are loyal to the agreement, I don't see why we wouldn't get our regions back. Especially when CoT also sees what we are doing.
But if we look like a nation divided that constantly bickers and doesn't follow DoD orders then it will obviously take a lot longer to get our regions back.
If we fight to get our regions back and win because chile wasn't paying attention, then the treaty is broken and not only do we lose the 200 000 AUD we deposited to eBrazil as a guarantee but we will get all our regions taken back. We will look like we cant be trusted to everyone in CoT and we will get nowhere.
So all you "patriots" out there, if you really care about eAustralia, stop acting like children and making us look bad. Make sure you follow the agreement and help eAustralia move forward
Voted
I came here to fight for Australia and not against it.
Personally I would not honor this treaty.
/sigh Kalydna. Have you read any of the previous comments?
Im sure you came here to help eAustralia. Right? There will be plenty of time to fight for eAustralia. Just not in against eChile right now. Regardless of whether you think its right or not, this is what eAustralia has decided to do.
We are a democracy. Public voted for political parties. Political parties appointed Senators. If the Senate rejected the treaty and orders came in from the government to fight, then we fight. But Senators voted to pass this treaty. So get over your emotions and help eAustralia continue the path it has started. All this negativity is only dragging us down.
Lets move on.
Friend Louise, listen to you countrymen... they actually think more than 2 steps in front 😉
Cheers
Why the funk is this troll in our media 😁^
@Majester/Roboz - don't say I am not thinking.
In fact it is an even weaker argument to claim that Chile needs the clause so they don't have to tie up their armies with us. If they want to occupy us it should be under there own power and we shouldn't be helping them occupy others, or save their own hide. It's basically the same point I was making in the article.
I have a feeling we could have gotten this treaty without Part 5 which is my only point in the article. I am not against treaties altho people like to think my perspective is simplistic.
If the public doesn't call our diplomats to task to get the best possible deals, we might continue to end up in the gutter. It is not a waste of time for a citizen to challenge the government to explain itself.

So true Vyrin, that is what this thread is about \o/
Manrod, on what basis do you consider that you have the right to call me friend?
and roboz, please stop with the theatricalities /sigh
