RULES OF THE SAKURA PETAL LOTTERY
I will let my announcer, Hoshino Takabe-san explain the rules.
Konbanwa Miina-san. I am Hoshino-san and I will be your host for tonights show: The Sakura lottery!! The rules are simple.
There will be 3 divisions, 3 drawings. The more you pay to play, the more it pays to win!
Placing your Wager
Division 1: Costs 5 JPY to play.
Division 2. Costs 10 JPY to play.
Division 3. Costs 25 JPY to play.
Unfortunately, due to our understanding of the eRepublik rules, it must be via endorsement, so you can only choose 1 division to purchase a single ticket for via your endorsement, so choose wisely.
Earning your Winnings
The Lottery winnings are accounted by 75% of each divisions total ticket revenue. This means that for a division to be run, there must be at least 2 individuals vying for its payout. This means that when more people are going for a single prize, the payout can be so much more. for instance, if there were 10 people going for a division 3 prize, the payout is now 187.25 for your 25 JPY ticket. Even if you are vying against a single opponent, the payout is 37.5, a clear profit!!
This payout percentage is standard, so it doesn't matter what division you play, you get the same percent prize for your division, but more guts, more glory!
What if only one person plays in a division?
Theoretically, we could pay a reward to a single winner, but that wouldn't be very fun for said winner. In this case the player does not get a refund, nor a prize, he just gets entered for free in the next game, essentially transferring his ticket. As a bonus, he can purchase a second ticket. DOUBLE LUCKY!
How does the drawing work?
Players will be assigned a number prior to the drawing, that will happen every 3 days. The first 2 will be to allow players entry, the third day will see a new article of the SAKURA PETAL LOTTERY announcing the winner and the cycle begins all over again... with the new article being the beginning of the new cycle where individuals can place their new wagers. Numbers will be drawn from Random.Org where I will take a screenshot of the winning draw for each division.
The threshhold for drawing will start at 1 and end at the number of participants for that division. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A WINNER.
And that is the SAKURA PETAL LOTTERY.
The next drawing will be on day 2659, 3 days from now. (at the latest 2660, depending on IRL)
PLACE YA BETS!

I don't get why no one is playing. If even one person matches against you its a profit for one of you.
Nyan analyzer at your service:
1.
75% of each divisions total ticket revenue, meaning 25% is taken by organiser, might be seen as a little greedy .
2.
There was another lottery going at the time of the first lottery.
3.
There were lots of articles at the time & since it isn't normally the case, many people in eJapan aren't used to look for page 2 of articles :/
4.
'The Sakura Petal' name might bring back some bad memories to people who PTOed Sakurakai (Ahava could say much more about this) as well as people who let it happen. Nowadays it might be politically incorrect to even mention it, because of the uproar and flame wars it caused in the past.
5.
Normally wallets are more open when profit from lottery goes for some good cause (help for wounded war veterans, malnournished children in Africa, etc...)
Writing this comment made me sad. ^・︵・^
Aymay you are completely correct there. I never noticed the first lottery, or else I would have given it a try.
Hmm. i chose 75% arbitrarily. I could probs increase the payout, especially if more people play >.> I was thinking after reading your comment but even that would probs draw more players.
As for the Sakurakai PTO, I wasn't around for that, so I have no knowledge of the pto. After-all, I'm just a relic of the past pretty much 😛
I'll think about number 5, it depends entirely on how much this takes off >.> If it does well though, I'll consider donating a part of it to the Ministry of Culture, they could always use it I'm sure.
Just to add to Aymay's response:
Ad 1. No matter how small percent the organizers take, such a setup always has negative pay-off. So every participant loses in the long run. That's why statisticians call lotteries the "ignorance tax".
Ad 5. My personal opinion is that it would only make sense as such an event, when 99% goes for a good cause, and the organizer takes the 1% for his trouble. The element of risk then makes it more fun that just donating directly.
At least this time you have some participants, me included 🙂
Keep up the good work! 😁
Division 3 ticket, please!
D3 please 🙂
Does Division need to match ones military division?
lol, everyone's gone for D3 xD
division does not have to match ones military division, no 😛
of course the risk vs payout is the purpose of different divisions. if you risk less, you win less basically. standard lottery 😛
