The King is dead! Long live the King!

Day 3,978, 10:06 Published in Netherlands Slovakia by Willem The Conqueror

Dear countrymen,

Yesterday I learned of the death of my late father, our great King Kordak I. The entire Royal Family, especially my brother and I, are deeply saddened by his departure. The circumstances of his death have left us all heartstruck.

I speak for the entire Royal Family when I extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who has paid tribute to our late sovereign today, at his funeral in Delft. May he be an example to future generations. May his soul rest among his forebears. May his legacy live on into eternity, for it has influenced the course of our nation significantly.

The remains of King Kordak I are laid to rest in the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft as the Royal Family watches.

It is a Royal tradition that the eldest son of the deceased sovereign takes the throne. It is therefore only right that I assume the position as King, bearing the name of three predecessors as King Willem IV.

THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE KING WILLEM IV!

However, I have deliberated with my brother, Legendardisch, and the rest of the Royal Family in the last couple of hours. It is my wish that my brother should take the throne after my father's death. We have therefore come to the agreement that I shall willingly abdicate the throne, and let my brother assume it.

That is why I hereby officially abdicate the Dutch throne. It is, therefore, my distinct honour to hail:

THE KING IS NO LONGER, LONG LIVE KING LEGENDARDISCH I!

As your prince, I ask you, the Dutch people, to celebrate the life of my late father and the coronation of our King. May his reign be long and prosperous.

Your faithful prince,
