The Individual, The Groups, The Government, and My Wish for the Nation.

Day 2,470, 17:47 Published in Australia Canada by Molly Jo

Foreword
My previous article was not accomplishing what I wanted it to, those reading it were focusing on the wrong point. So I'm wrote this as a re-envisioned version, that I hope will better express what I want it to.

The Individual
For an individual person in Australia or any eRep nation for that matter, odds are you will not be able to do much on your own. Unless you pull our your trusty credit card, but that's a whole other thing and not the focus or point of this segment. For the standard player operating purely on your own will be incredibly frustrating, and advancing property and training grounds while trying to profit will be a long tedious process that most players would and tend to likely give up on. However depressing that sounds, there are in fact somethings you can do on your own, even without the use of plastic, you can write articles, which is by far the cheapest thing eRep has to offer, though don't let the admins know, they might try to take that away from us too 😉 Newspapers in addition to your profile is the best way to express ones individuality. And if enough people like what you have to say, yes there is the Media Mogul Medal. You also get an about me and avatar all to yourself to express yourself. But still not much you can do solely on your own as a standard player which brings me to my next point.

The Groups
The Groups this game features are both Political Partys and Military Units. Personally I think a well run Military Unit is more impressive than a party, but I'm sure others see it the other way so naturally both will be analyzed here.

First the Political Party, in Australia we have a fair amount of options, so an individual can easily find a party that best suits what they are looking for. From an observational stand point the core message of any party is "we want you" this of course comes in different variations on how they say it, but the core principle is the same. I've detailed the parties on an individual basis before so I wont get into that.

Generally I like all the top 7 the same, with the exception of course that I favor my own party, and with a slight other exception that I liked the Green and Gold before it became the Queens party with that crazy lady logo. Some might question the truth behind that statement, but without the Knighthawks I probably wouldn't have defeated Majester in June 2013 for the PM/CP Race.

However back on Topic, Political partys allow you to have a political community with in a national community, they allow for various political stances, and while the orientation means nothing in most circles, it can be used in both Positive and Negative Media Aspects.

A political party is the means which an individual can run for Senate/Congress, and if nominated [or self nominated] they can run for Prime Minister/Country President.

However Political Partys can also be a huge source of conflict, if for example someone becomes Party President and abuses the position for self interest or to change the party against the wishes of the rest of the party. A group of partys can come together to form a coalition against another party [never fun to be on the wrong side of this].

But in my personal opinion to often the political party causes divides in the community of a nation. It seems a player or a group of players from one party will disagree with someone most likely from another party, and often the rest of that other party is lumped in with the person the first person or set of people disagreed with, which tends to lead to feuding and distrust between the partys. I've seen this particular problem to many times for my own liking, and I wish we are a country would finally learn to stop repeating this mistake, individual disagreements are bound to happen, but the fact that so often they escalate into party vs party, in my opinion needs to stop.

Anyway on to Military Units, which as I said, I believe a well run Military Unit is more impressive than a political party.

The Military Unit has come a long way since I joined this game, with the Daily Order, regiments, second commanders, captains, combat orders and so on. When it comes to Australia we have the ADF which is the MU for newer players [and yes it used to be a program that supplied players in MUs all across Australia, but a short time Marshal decided it would be best if all the members were in One MU] Other MUs of note, the KnightHawks [connected to, but should not be confused with the Party] MGB Guys Marauders, the black hawks and the peacewalker MU, along with of course the Diggers [those are the most noteable, I apologize if I didn't list yours, but I can't list them all 😛 ].

The Key and or Goal with picking an MU is that they will be able to supply you, preferably you want one that will supply you with the weapons you need to fight daily. Some also supply food for health, and further more some have training gold loan programs [usually ones for newer players in large countries]

Relations from one MU to another I've found are usually a lot less tense then Party to Party relations, Politics does that. Though that wont stop MU's with in a nation from competing with each other, after all they have to show who has the bigger guns.

So when it comes to the groups an individual can join, they both have there perks, but personally I believe they should never intertwine, because the politics of war is something best left to the government.

The Government
Every country has one, some have more then one [see "resistance government" etc..] The Government is composed of a Country President/Prime Minister, a "cabinet" that our admins wont let us customize the names of, and a congress/senate. Naturally the President can do things the congress can't and vice-versa, but the cabinet can't do anything special in game, there purpose is the work behind the button pushing. In Australia traditionally each member of the cabinet is called a Minister of -insert title here- they get deputies who don't get as much public attention, but sometimes do more work than the minister themselves, or sometimes they just observe in a training program of sorts.

In the last year an a half Australias government operations has changed from largely forum and IRC based, to a largely mass messaged based operation, [which if you're not friends with the person running these, tends to leave you out]. However the core of what they do is the same as it's always been. A lot of work the public won't know about for security reasons, work and programs that are often over looked or undervalued, and naturally the government receives the most pressure and expectations. And on a personal observation the most criticism usually comes from the opposition which is why they are called the opposition I guess.

The Nation
Which brings me to the Nation of Australia as a whole, we may not be the biggest nation, and sure we've seen some decline, but it is still my wish that we stay together, in our pursuit of Australian Freedom. As a smaller country we need to be a progressive community that doesn't let personal issues affect our political and military operations.

Afterword
Briefly I would also like to announce that I am running for Prime Minister/Country President for the Month of September. An official article on the matter will come in time.

Thank you for reading this wall of text,
Sincerely,
Molly Jo
