The Crossroad at the Halfway Point
eBelgian Presidency
Dear citizens of eBelgium. This is your president speaking. As I've told you from the very beginning, don't expect charismatic speeches, pats on the back and pics
😉
I would like however pay some attention to those who elected me and to those who didn't. Therefore I sat myself down behind the PC and started on this quest to give you at least a slight glance into the workings of my chaotic brain and present you a midterm article as CP.
Where to start? Were I to summarize my first 15 days in office in one word : turbulent. Everything started of pretty calm, SX80, Thanatos and Trito continuing their work. This left the ministries of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs without supervision. I decided to be acting MoFA untill Mr. Wonka returned from a well deserved holiday, and he most reassuringly took his old position up again. I was also glad eVladimir did decide to stay on as BNA Commander. Trito however has found the whole duality within eBe too much and decided to leave our community. I thank him for his work he did.
My ministers have a great autonomy, I rely heavily on their expertise and connections with the community, both national and international. It is my hope they can appreciate this autonomy and informal way of running the show. But their effort will not go unrewarded. Whilst Congress Members are rewarded 5G irrespective of any effort, they get nothing. I therefore commmit myself to rewarding them. The ministers doing the full term wil get 10G, and it is up to them to keep it, spend it on their respective department or donate it to the country. Trito will also get 5G.
People wanting to engage themselves in the government, each minister has the authority to employ on his responsibility other players to help out. Who knows maybe they'd be willing to pay out a wage too out of their bonus. All I ask is before employment is done, they let me know so we can talk about the tasks and duties of each worker.
Enough talk about my government. Let us look back at internal affairs now. Soon after I was elected, the final stage of the World Cup was introduced by eRepublik. As a gesture and incentive to get as much damage out of our soldiers Q7s were handed out. Then, another rogue NE proposal popped up. Now, I have respect for all nations and for all people, but if you get elected, you get 5G, you should have the interest of eBe in your heart. If you decide to do a proposal I must assume your party has your back. Rogue proposals, especially NE's are possibly damaging for our reputation on the international scene, and we need that to survive the wars between the big boys. Many of you have read probably that I excluded Texas from the rewards during the last days of that tournament week. This did not go down well. An impeachment. Lots of slander that I was not right and so on. For your information I gave my advice not to give him anything anymore, my ministers are free to do with that advice as they please. It wasn't the first time, and it'll not be the last time for rogue proposals, and it'll not be the last time I stand against it.
Which brings us to the matter of illegal CitizenShips . What are they exactly? To safeguard a country from a possible hostile take-over, look at eUK recently, many countries adopt a strategy of first screening possible candidates. if found safe the advice of admission was granted and a CM would approve that player. Illegal CS are passes given to people who did not pass the screening, who paid for that pass or were given the pass before any screening took place. How dangerous can that be? Again the eUK is a very good example, if you put both approval lists next to each other you'll see some very distrubing similarities. By saying this, I am not claiming all those coming in are by definition bad. They could be unaware of the way things can be done in eRepublik, they could have been deceived, they could have been simply paid. It doesn't really matter. What matters is that in a country with a small active voter base is easily influenced by the large number of CS passes that can be given. Unfortunately, it's the way it works.
Thus we have landed on a crossroad in eBe history. When the next elections come up, and you are all in that booth, look at the members of the Congress list, it is top-down they are selected. Look at their names, look at what they've done for this community, their activity in the community. Find the people you think did what you expect from members of the eBe community and vote for them.
So, the next 15 days, what will they bring? I think another impeachment likely. It is true I might not be the best CP ever, but I'm a CP that will not let himself be bullied around. If you have any problems with me, take it up with me, not the eBe citizens.
The ride till the next CP elections will remain bumpy, the coming changes promise nothing good. There'll be demand for workers, this will have an impact on wages, and even more multi's to deal with. Who knows, for now it is only speculation.
So I end this endless monologue. Work hard, train hard and hit hard!
Yours truly,Director9

Although I think personally you are honest person in your beliefs; we won't come anywhere with this sort of proclamations:
"Which brings us to the matter of illegal CitizenShips . What are they exactly? To safeguard a country from a possible hostile take-over, look at eUK recently, many countries adopt a strategy of first screening possible candidates. if found safe the advice of admission was granted and a CM would approve that player. I advice you to just keep on listening to your foreign advisers as they are the ones responsible for eBelgium wipe and complete chaos afterwards; after which they cowardly left our country to found their new safe heaven in other countries.
Do you think you are above the administrators and the moderators of this game; by calling fully legally given away cs's given by elected Congress members - illegal?
I don't think so.
I am not calling citizenship given illegal. I have described what the players playing eRepublik would call an 'illegal' CS. But you are right I should have said 'What do most countries consider an illegal citizenship despite that gamemechanics don't speak of it?'
Just as PTO'ing a country isn't illegal. Just as the CP taking away millions from the country account isn't illegal.
Once again the only argument you can bring is : the game allows it.
For many new players this would sound very reasonable and very true actually. And this is where the most is gained. By the fact that once people are convinced, they stop asking questions, they stop reading really. It's a human trait, to which I also am susceptible.
So yes, CM's can give CS passes to anyone, it's their full right to do so. So yes, CM's can pass any put forth any law proposal. So yes, a CP can do with the country orgs whatever he wants. So yes, a soldier can hit against allies.
If you can present to me that the majority in eRep countries, the above statements prevail for thier community instead of the metagame they particpate in I will withdraw my statement.
I am suspicious of nature for most people, because I lack any empathy of who they really are and what they want and how they go about it. I can usually only be persuaded by facts&figures.
On a final note, I think many of the 'elitists' are frowning upon my way of running the Country, even appalled maybe.
Find me a majority of official country govs supporting your claim that nothing supercedes the mechanics in their country.
"Once again the only argument you can bring is : the game allows it."
+1
It's only a game after all.
The RL life problems are enough for the people and all this here are just bunch of screen pixels.
It is, but why all the outraged and angry articles about the forum, the elites and such? Be upfront, and say I only play the game by the game rules. Informed voters might think twice before voting of course, knowing all the possibilities people have once they can get hold of certain positions within the game wouldn't they?
"It is, but why all the outraged and angry articles about the forum, the elites and such?"
1. I don't know what are you referring at? I myself didn't publish anything for months in a row, someone else might have done it. There were some comments posted in the past about the Forum, but it wasn't only done by me. As I wasn't the only person without the access to the Forum. And anyway I am still without it. Because of the two persons who are not residing in eBelgium at the moment and who vetoed my access to the Forum; and also influenced tommot and Boklevski when the decision was made by the Supreme Court whether I should get again my citizen's mask or not.
"Be upfront, and say I only play the game by the game rules. Informed voters might think twice before voting of course, knowing all the possibilities people have once they can get hold of certain positions within the game wouldn't they?"
2. I am playing by the rules and the means of eRepublik; meaning everything is allowed and applicable except for the things and actions strictly forbidden by the eRepublik; and as a consequence being possible punishable by a temporary or permanent ban.
3. I can not be influenced, nurtured or bribed. Everything that I have here in this game is because I have invested my time, my money and my effort in it.
I don't owe anyone anything nor did I ever receive any substantial help from anyone here.
4. Therefore, I am playing by my rules and not some else's rules.
5. Who doesn't like it this way, my way; it's his problem.
6. I am always trying to be diplomatic and friendly; but if my opposition starts to play dirty using lies and tricks, I am also apt to play dirty. The end justifies the means.
7. If I would really say openly straightly what I think of eBelgium residents; most of the people would be directly insulted and not very happy. Again it's not my problem, it's theirs. Their shortsightedness and narrow-mindedness is really annoying.
1. I was not specifically refering to you, I would imagine if you would have deducted that. You know very well which people in the past and now went completely ballistic at some others. Likewise with Texas X, how much commotion did that not cause, not from you, but definitely from players that you oipenly support.
2. Nice to know, I thank you for your openness.
3. Same here.
4. I too play by my rules, but I do respect the work others put into this country and how that helped others. The game isn't all about the rules made by eRepublik. There's a large player base, which to enhance the game and for some security of what has been build over the years have adopted a set of extra guidelines/rules to help this. Look at the eUK where orgs, lent out to private individuals were at risk. This is not about applying the rules, it's about displaying a minimal form of sportsmanship in the game. If you say that's of no relevance, then I think it is just that the community based players are worried that the treasury will be emptied once you have enough power, no?
5. Then it should be no problem that the others do what they can to defend themselves, as long as it is within game rules.
6. You tell me where I stated any lies, besides you, most of your party that are active in eBe media/forum(and that's not many) revert to 'dirty' tricks by only shouting slogans and such.
7. I have no problems if you tell me openly what you think of me, don't worry. And once again, it's not narrowmindedness, it's the fear of players only obeying the rules laid down by eRepublik that makes people worry. The rules offer very little protection for what is invested into the community, only privately is there any safety. Or do you deny that eRepublik offers very few safeguards?

This is a clear example of the outright lies and half truths put forth by you and your friends, presumably used to sway public opinion your way.
The only person without access to the forum is shadowukcs. This has been true for many months. He was given a long term forum ban for using multis, which also would get him a ban in game.
Some people were given limited access (but not at any time total loss of access) due to activities that were believed to be a threat to eBelgium, including letting in known PTOers.
Contrary to your statement that this was done by a "veto" of two people (and you don't say who you think they are but I guarantee you are wrong), this required a vote of Congress and confirmation by the Supreme Court. After a period of time, some of those who had limited access previously were given full rights again, also based on the vote of Congress and the Supreme Court. Some of those who had full rights returned had conditions placed on them by the court, not by any individuals. If you think anyone was able to influence tommot and Boklevski about this, you don't know them very well. In fact, they made a tiered system of restoration of rights which was totally of their own devising and not influenced by anyone else that I am aware of. If you did not get full citizen rights, it's because your own actions and history caused them to believe you are still a threat. Looking at your post, I would guess that decision was correct.
You have to lie to play the victim card in this situation.
8. I can’t change it nor can I influence their mental and intellectual capacities, unfortunately.
That's all Folks.
Where comes the gold to your ministers from ? Your inventory or the State's inventory ?
Mine of course.
You're a good CP 😉
Good article, voted! And a good CP term so far, imo...
