State of the Army September 2012

Day 1,768, 05:59 Published in USA USA by bombonato

It may seem strange to see something about the state of the Army when I've been out of touch for the past couple weeks (moving=no interwebs) but I feel that this is not only a good time, but possibly long overdue.

In the few months that I've been the general of the Army it has gone through a number of changes. This is the first time in Army history that both the CO and the XO, Kirras, have both been female. Kirras was an easy choice for XO as her time schedule complemented mine and I knew she could lead the Army just as well as I can. She is also currently leading the 5th division directly and I am pleased to know that she is able and willing to cover these tasks as needed. On a personal note, I must express my sincere thanks to her for covering much of the leadership tasks for the past couple weeks, and to the rest of the Army as well for putting up with my absence as well as they have.

Of course, with a change in leadership we have some high-profile Army retirees to honor.

The previous general, Kolv1k stepped down to take care of his real life responsibilities but is sticking around and continues to offer his advice on the production changes within the game, without which I'm sure we would not adapt as well as we have.

Doe22, longtime CO of the 5th division also stepped down this summer. He led the 5th division well for over a year, and assisted me with it before that, and he did both jobs very admirably. As I'm sure the Army members know, he did a lot for the Army day in and day out. He remains around the game as well, mostly acting in an occasional supply capability for the Army.

Our Ranger CO, RedbirdUSA also resigned to join the Marines. We wish him the best of luck there 🙂

I also want to take this opportunity to address the members of the Army military unit.

The Army as I think of it is organized outside the game. We have a forum and more detailed orders, as well as chat rooms and connections to other military groups in order to help you grow in the game and make more friends. However, our group is geared toward mid-level players who already understand the game and are willing to make a small time commitment toward the group. We do provide weapons (q6 and q7, depending on the day) and food to those who need it though we encourage self-sufficiency in food and will help you get there 🙂 Our requirements are for an applicant to be able to do at least 200 damage without a weapon per 10 wellness used (That works out to 400 with a q5 or 600 with a q7) and to be in division 2 or higher in game.

For those of you that don't meet those requirements yet, we encourage you to look into the Training Corps. They're affiliated with the Army (one of those other military groups I mentioned earlier) but they're geared toward helping new players with any questions they might have and getting the players new to out-game groups situated. The Training Corps is highly recommended before joining the Army, though we do let people in that haven't been through it. We've found that  the TC makes for a more effective Army fighter, and if you show you're active there we might even let you in a little bit before you meet our requirements 😉
