Something that makes you think...

And you might be right.

Happy 3rd Birthday to The NoS Dive Bar! An International Sea Cow Terrorist Organization. And stiff pants.

And Gaylord is a Sea Cow.

The NoS celebrates it's 3rd year this month. Probably most of you reading this know little about our small party, so let me give a little history.

The NoS began when a couple of S.E.E.S. members left to start their own party. Small bit of inside gossip, one primary founder had a bit of a personality conflict with Emerick. Not important in itself but Emerick and S.E.E.S. went on to have a long term influence and relationship with The NoS Party, which continued right up till the S.E.E.S. demise.

Emerick and I wanted a viable 6th party to protect the T5 flank, but we weren't looking for a party with aspirations for a T5 spot. In some ways, that ethos carries forth to this day.

The NoS has always happily been a 6th party. We are truly the nations Dive Bar.

Anyway, no one around at the time had the strength to hold the 6th spot. The NoS was a month old, and had a gung ho core of about 15 that wanted to grow, desperately. A few of us SEES guys went over and recruited, the old fasioned way, and grew to almost 100 members. We eventually took that T6 spot with the blessing of every T5 PP at the time, as well as the President and DCIA. We were only there about two months.

Our PP at the time, the DASTARDLY Josh Whitehead, resigned his mechanical PP position, leaving it to that BASTARDLY Lofteraptor, who turned the party over to that COMMUNIST AGITATOR AJay.

(all three are guys I enjoy friendships with, so I jest with tongue in cheek)

This was followed by a series of short lived parties, and, finally, the AMP took that 6th spot semi-permanently before moving up to T5. And kudo's to the AMP to this day. We were quite happy to not need to be in the 6th spot anymore, with the strong emergence of the AMP.

I give the abbreviated version here, apologies.

We went on, for almost a year, to run arguably the nations best snipe group. We decided some PP elections, many Congressional elections, and one CP election. What I won't say to this day is which elections, though the history is documented in our archieves. PP's almost always asked for our help, and when we could make a difference, we usually did indeed throw our support. For us it was about making a difference, purely for the fun of it, in most instances. One additional barely held secret of that period? More than half our snipe guys weren't even in The NoS Party! Those guys just liked the game of snipe, and liked, equally, to make a national difference.

What was later ironic is that towards the end of SEES, our snipe team saved that party more than once. We probably wanted it to continue more than they did, really. We were sad to see it go, and for awhile we weren't entirely sure what our mission would be going forward, since we had always been peripherally (though no longer answerable to) SEES oriented (no shock nor secret to most, but perhaps a surprise to some).

We like to be surprised!

What we liked about SEES was their talent for fun for fun's sake, the story lines, the chaos (which to a degree is good for the nation). SEES influenced me personally, and The NoS forever.

Today, The NoS Dive Bar continues along with a core of about 15 members, more or less (though we say, "Once NoS, always NoS!"). Our mutual bond, perhaps, is that we continue to think of the game as a game, and our relationship to it and everyone else as a community of people.

We joke and say The NoS stands for ladies and bathroom lines, and little else. But truly, we stand for the acknowledgement that this is a game, and we approach the game with a bit of a smirk. We're here for fun and laughs.

Beyond that, we pride ourselves on our independence. As a group, we stay out of politics. Although individual members have aspired to, and achieved, high posts throughout the game over the time of our existence. And it would most definitely be a misnomer to think individual members within our ranks don't have strong goals, opinions, and designs for the community and nation. We rather like being different, and creative.

But we rarely speak as a group. Instead, we encourage diversity and the individuals pursuit of success, however they define that.

We have a loosely affiliated militia, Black Water Mercenaries.

We choose our CP endorsements pretty casually, as we're small, but everyone gets a voice. We hold votes if there's disagreement.

UNITY and the AFA:

The NoS Party officially remains neutral in what we view as a political squabble between two political factions. Individual opinions may vary, lol.

POLITICAL INVOLVEMENT:

There was a time when 80% of The NoS had been Congressman at least once. We count as members currently or previously Country Presidents, Speakers of The House, multiple Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as eliminated posts such as Chief Justice of The United States. It would be fair to say that we lean in support of the nations original military force as an underlining ethos.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

One founding member aLalban, went on to be a legendary leader in Albania

another original founder became an equally legendary leader in Pakistan...

And yet another a prominent leader in Switzerland.

Members also spent time in Australia, where we enjoyed a sister NoS Australia for a time.

Once NoS, always NoS.

Because of these international connections, The NoS were early leaders in forming our nations lasting bonds with Albania, in particular. We count as eternal brothers our Albanian friends.

All are welcome. We sit around drinking beer and sometimes nursing calves.

And we intend to BE around another 3 years, large or small.

Because as long as there's evil to battle in the universe, The NoS will be sitting idly by and watching it all go down. And brother, we mean it.

Happy Birthday NoS Party!

Dutifully Submitted,

Vice President
The NoS Dive Bar
