Public Safety Warning: Acacia Mason makes Real Life Threats

Last night, on the #mdparty IRC channel, Acacia Mason went off the deep end and began to threaten to track me down in real life in order to publicize the details of my real name, where I live, where I work, what my job title is, and what I do in life.
This can only be assumed to be in response to the recent article I published in which I reminded eCanadians that he has lied and ragequit before, and that his running mate AngryMobMan lied about having a deadly form of brain cancer.
Why would Acacia Mason threaten to track down where I live and work?

Why would Acacia Mason threaten to find out what I do on a daily basis?
I don't know. I don't know why someone would make threats like this about another player in an online game. Perhaps it is a sign of some form of mental instability. Perhaps it's a sign of something more sinister to come.
Regardless, the following screenshots were provided to me by the IRC users that were present in #mdparty last night. They are highlighted to show the relevant escalation in Acacia Mason's stance towards aggressive stalking.

So what's the point of publishing this?
Threatening to stalk other users is wrong, if not criminal.
It's a warning to others. Some players may be unstable in real life, and liable to threaten in RL those who cross them in the game. As you can see, Acacia Mason is reacting very aggressively and irresponsibly to the fact that he and his running mate were shown to be unstable liars. His reaction only serves to give that statement more weight that it originally carried.
Stay safe eCanada, and if someone from this game threatens to find or harm you in real life, remember that you need to log everything and contact the police.

For someone who diverts such copious amounts of attention to Acacia, I find it somewhat hypocritical for you to consider him the stalker...
LOL...your articles generated a series of hate messages that have been sent to my box over the last few days. My concept of paying you back is releasing a podcast in response to your never ending vendetta against me.
Lets not forget that you also posted my IP address publicly without any sort of consent and put my safet at risk in doing so.
If you had just had the decency to stop instigating it would have been fine but no...you had to keep going and now I am getting hate mail from other players that I have had to report to the admins.

On the other hand, I do agree that the posting of Acacia's IP was wrong. You could have said that they were the same (with a forum admin to verify your claims) without posting the actual IP.
I enjoy how not every line from Acacia is highlighted.
I for one thought YOU would let people make the informed choice, by allowing people to see EVERY line in which acacia said - by highlighting them all, and not a select few, to context the article to meet your needs/opinions/views (it is also ironic how the lines where acacia says all the stuff about "Saltydog posted my IP" and all of that - is not highlighted either).

Acacia, this is your opportunity to live down the threats you've made to find me in real life.
Saltydog your articles have generated PM's in which violence has been threatened against me. I have reported them to the admin. They have also generated PM's in which I am called things that I would not repeat in mixed company.
It was my intention in my podcast today to announce that I would be leaving because your actions via articles etc and the fact you posted my IP address, have taken away any sense of personal security I had in this game.
The threats of violence I have received are such that I must take them seriously. I have a family and their safety must come before any sort of game. You posted MY IP and put me at risk. To date you have yet to acknowledge the inappropriateness of that action.
If I may just clarify my last comment...
What I meant by that, is the context of the so called threats. Now, normally when someone sees what you posted (i.e. most of "acacia's lines" highlighted in yellow and red), they will of course jump to the conclusion that acacia is trying to stalk you, because that is the general theme of lines that are highlighted.
However, if you re-read the ENTIRE conversation (all of acacia's lines, and all of the other lines included), it starts to take on the theme of a retaliation, to your initial posting of Acacia's IP address in a log way-back-when... when he claims "it's my info", "I care" and all of that....
Now, what I gather from Acacia's statements, are the "I wonder how..." segments of it - which show us that Acacia is not actually saying "YES I WILL DO THIS RIGHT NOW"... like you claimed he would...

Where does he say "I AM GOING TO MAKE AN ARTICLE"... since all I see are his "suggestions" of doing it - as though he is questioning out aloud.
Acacia, with all due respect, it wasn't saltydog that threatened you with RL violence. It's unfortunate that there are people who would have done so, but I'm sure it wasn't saltydog's intention to instigate that.

However, your IP address has nothing to do with the private messages you receive in eRepublik.
Nor do I have anything to do with others sending you threats of violence.
But unfortunately you don't seem to be in a rational place right now where you can see how threatening to stalk someone in real life is wrong.

Intention or not Dominik, it happened because the issue was so obsessive and fanatical that it bred the PM's. I am really not sure what his intentions are...he posted my IP and in doing so put me at risk. How can I as a husband and family man feel safe now?
My IP was on display for all to see and now I have these PM's. Regardless of what you think or who you are, I think anyone would be feeling a little bit concerned about their safety. Salty may not have intended it, but he instigated it and he is yet to acknowledge that he was way out of line by posting my IP.

Your IP address being made public for 2 hours is not connected to the PM's you receive.
You receive PM's because individual users decide to send you a message.
My concern Salty is that the information from that IP could have been obtained by those individuals and now used against me in a way that could see RL harm done to me.
Its a legitimate concern and its moot now as those who wish to threaten have and my IP was on display. I am leaving the game for my own personal security because I can not pretend that I did receive messages that explicitly expressed violence against me.

All I get from this article and the screenshots is that you posted Acacia's IP in a previous article and that pissed him off. Pretty dick move, actually. Further, the 'threat' you are railing against isn't so much a threat as it is questioning how you would like it if someone posted your personal info in a public environment and by writing this article it would seem that you wouldn't like it very much at all. So, this is all a bit hypocritical. Grow up.

So, with Acacia's IP address, someone could find out what ISP he uses and possibly (in rare occasions) find out what city he is in. The only risk would be to his computer, but only if he was foolish and did not have a router or firewall. So, if I understand correctly, Acacia is furious because of WHAT?!?!

Shortly after Salty posted Acacia's IP Address, I sent AM a link explaining how to change IP addresses. That should have remedied the security problem easily enough. Doesn't look to har😛

The AMM cancer thing -- I felt bad when I heard it, then wondered about his sudden recovery. Yeah, I was doubtful about what AMM might say after that but no harm done, since we don't interact much.
The AM multi thing -- yeah that was a bit funny. Story sounded odd. Wasn't sure it was legit.
Salty coming back from the dead to hound the new CP/VP candidates -- not sure if it is politically motivated, personally driven, done for fun, or maybe a quest to restore Justice, Honour, and Truth to eCanada. Rather interesting - but only as a spectator who passes a car wreck. Not much harm done to me, so why should I care, unless the same fate befalls me, which may well happen one day.

Acacia apologized for multi-ing, and it was a genuine and thorough apology. Yeah, he rage quit early on in eRep, a couple of times, but he's been reliable for quite a while and made it through his CP term without incident. Let it go salty.
AMM apologized for the cancer thing. It was a back-handed apology, but by the content of the article, he's got several other issues going on. Is he CP material? Likely not, but he's not running for CP. If AM wants him as a running mate, let AM carry the weight, it's AM's responsibility if he loses, or wins, with AMM at his side.

Most IP addresses are dynamic these days anyways. I don't think someone could successfully track you down with just your IP, well, maybe if your ISP hands out personal info like candy...
The maximum an IP can tell about a person is the city he lives in. It's sort of your ip but more of the ISP's ip. You can easily get anyone's ip and it won't mean much.
Making threats is what worries me.
Acacia, you do realize that almost everyone knows your name due to you making it public (remember Confederation Station?). Names are more dangerous than IPs, just saying.

honestly salty, your motive is clear from your actions. You wish to make AMM and AM leave the game. You are prepared to cause them personal pain until they do so. There is no other explanation for the use of extreme language like "disgusting", there is no other reason for telling a player "leave the game" there is no other reason for characterizing another human being as "unstable liar". Please give thought to the pathology here: a desire/willingness to cause human suffering without any corresponding benefit.
