Presidential Update
Molly Jo
Opening
As I'm not the greatest writing, I requested write ups from members of my cabinet to present to you the citizens of eCanada and other readers what has been going on over the course of the term so far.
Last Week in the Cabinet
written by: Thedillpickl
MoD Darth Zigus and MoF Aries Prime discuss "stuff".
The last week in review has Molly opening up first thing in organizing her cabinet and familiarizing herself with all the little details to run a country. Members not already on IRC were helped to get that under their belt.
Meanwhile the first few hours also included many discussions about an AS and/or regular war, even a TW. Later, after looking at what we were given to work with and Congress adopting the plan to lower WT to 5% after we acquired our slush fund it was decided that this was not a thing to rush into. No one wanted to waste the AS with us not being able to land. Also there are always diplomatic concerns such as Argentina being involved with our neighbors across the pond.
I-Bleed-Blue-93 was added to the Cabinet on the second day. Once the cabinet was talking we focused on setting up communications with the MU Commanders PM. Exalted Druid got that set up with little problem. Xichael took charge and sent out FA greetings to all our allies and friends.
Setting the CotD and posting MoD Articles was the next priority. While we weren't at war our allies were and we needed to let them know that they had a friend in Canada. MPPs were addressed and it was determined that if there were to be no immediate AS we needed to support those that support us when we need them. With the WT being lowered to 5% it quickly became obvious that our revenue would be spent just on that bit of business.
As it was brought up in public, I will mention that there was thought give to a TW with the USA. One of the first things mentioned was that attacking them would have consequences with our MPP stacks. That and other considerations quickly tabled that idea. Sorry if you are one of those that really, really wanted war with the US, it ain't happenin' this month.
Continuing work on a government food program and thoughts about an updated Welcome Message have been brought into the mix. This administration has worked to not be focused on just the desire for war. It does seem that over the last three day that we have made some significant headway in that regard however. Stay tuned for somthing more definite in the near future.
Saving today to secure tomorrow: The eCanada Nest Egg Act
Written by Foxfire
“1. The Government of eCanada will set aside an amount of no less than 500,000 CAD, to be kept in the Canadian Ministry of Finance organization account (CMoF org), that can only be used if:
a) We are being attacked by an airstrike, or
b) a foreign power is attempting to conquer or coup regions which are, by default, eCanadian, and
c) the war is NOT a training war. “
Thanks in part to the 10% working tax rate, and the generous $270K donation from Rylde, the Canadian Ministry of Finance org currently sits at a secure $470,000. Our sincere appreciation to the citizens of eCanada for aiding in the amassing of this fund to assist in our continued security as a country.
Respecting the hard work of so many, the Executive Administration wishes to continue on the path set before us.
Supporting our allies
Written by Foxfire
In the spirit of Congress' new eCanada Nest Egg Act, an Executive plan of fiscal responsibility has been chosen as a working goal of this administration.
Our MPPs will continue to be signed and we will support our allies on the battlefield as we always have. Even now, our CP Molly Jo has donated her own funds to support our Netherland allies with a MPP.
Our treasury will be kept at levels necessary to sign MPPs, while excess funds are moved to the Canadian Ministry of Finance to be kept out of the hands of anyone attempting to take over our country.
Our new nest egg defense fund will be kept and added to when possible to aid us in our hour of need, should such a need arise.
Instead of diverting funds to an air strike, we will take this time to support our allies and foster good will in the still relatively new Orion alliance. This will allow us to continue to meet the $500,000 Nest Egg Act goal and sign our MPPs.
The Canadian Empire Strikes Back
An opportunity has presented it self to allow us to go to war, so today we've declared war on the United Kingdom. This will allow our soldiers to test their hockey sticks against the soccer balls of Britain, to unleash the Dark Side of the force upon the old Empire!
With this in mind the government is accepting both financial and weapons donations for the war effort.
Enjoy Canadian Darth Vader;

Regarding the nest egg, what would be the methods or plans for funding the nest egg after its depletion? Would there be an expected time limit or a time-oriented goal to fund?
"2. If at any time there is less than 500,000 CAD set aside, the government shall direct all taxation towards achieving this amount with the exception of:
a) The maintenance of MPP's, and
b) the funding of government programs approved by Congress, and
c) alliance membership dues, or
d) the conditions of s.1 are still met"
3. Donations to the CMoF org shall be made as follows:
a) If at any time there is less than 400,000 CAD in the CMoF org, Congress will donate to the CMoF org 100,000 CAD any time that the Treasury contains a minimum of 120,000 CAD.
b) If at any time there is between 400,000 CAD and 500,000 CAD in the CMoF org, Congress will donate to the CMoF org the difference between 500,000 CAD and what is in the CMoF org so long as a minimum of 20,000 CAD will remain in the Treasury.
c) Donations larger than 100,000 CAD can be made to the CMoF org so long as a minimum of 20,000 CAD will remain in the Treasury.
d) Donations to the CMoF org that would bring the amount held there past 500,000 CAD can be made so long as as a minimum of 20,000 CAD will remain in the Treasury.
I've posted the rest of the Act as it stands (it seems that Congress' desire to change things further has died down) above.
There's no time limit, just a requirement to keep building as money flows in after MPPs and possibly anything else.
At current tax rates and with the number of MPPs we've been signing, it would take months to replenish the fund if we were to use it all.
Thanks Chochi. Indeed, work is being done.
Not bad work at all for the first 10 days. Things are set up, you're addressing domestic concerns that have been ignored for years, and you've set us up for a war.
We'll see how that goes over the next 10 days. 😛
If successful, this could easily be the best Executive we've seen in a long time. What a happy accident!
Congrats and thanks for the work so far Molly, et al!
You mean the best congress we've seen in awhile.
The best in ages no doubt due to Rylde's Whorehouse Congressmen!
(c'mon Rylde, you're slacking off in the self-aggrandizing propaganda department. we expect better attention-whorehousing next time.)
That too but Congress has slipped into its usual lull.
Discussions on the eCanadian Nest Egg Act have stalled despite people mentioning other things they'd it to include.
Nobody's had much to say one way or another when it comes to reviving the Minister of Immigration or repealing legislation on it, nor has there been any proposal to change or repeal our other antiquated laws.
Actually, that's not true. crisfire proposed repealing the ability of Congressmen to propose Acts in game, even though - or rather because - it had rarely been used. I don't disagree but it's not a burning issue.
Finally, despite our earlier discussion on finances, nobody's followed up with either the Minister of Finance for a budget or information about Treasury income since the Work Tax change or the Comptroller for access to the public record he's supposed to be keeping.
Time to whip your girls into shape, Rylde. Work's not over yet. We still have 10 days to go.
Sound like a bunch of crap I don't care about after the money was made and then made secure.
Then why are you bragging about Congress?
Because it lives or dies on my say so and that's scary because I can take over the country whenever I want to as well.
Congress died under my dictatorship supposudly and now congress dies without me?
