The way the game works is the most money wins, may as well be honest about it.

Plato could take all the bids, not just the top one
or charge a fee to bid.
Could happen.
It is the same actually in eRep, but it just takes you more time to press several time the same button
This is close but for it to really work you wouldn't be able to see what everyone else bid but it would take your money anyways, even if your side (pooled bids?) didn't win.
