Order in the Chaos: Training Contracts
Spir Tus
Almost everyday there will be new reactions in debates about things nobody seems to really understand. There are a lot of opinions and people who are reffering to old debates. There seems to be an ethos of common knowledge and habits. Information is not needed, because everyone understands the common, usual things. This is called experience, and I do not have it. For someone new, or someone who does not follow all the debates, it is hard to understand a debate and to participate. The aim of this column is to creat order in this chaos. It will mainly be an article for myself, to create an overview for myself. Maybe this writing about a debate will help others eventually to get to know what the debate is all about. In this second article of this series, I will try to explain more about a new way to upgrade your training grounds, with the Training Contracts.
The aim of every (new) soldier has to be to get as much strenght as possible, for the least experience as possible. This is simply said, but much harder to do. The primary way to get more strength is to train on your training grounds. But as a new player you don't have the money to upgrade your training grounds, so you don't get much strength.
Therefore, a new protocol has passed through congress last month. With these Training Contracts, you will loan money from the state for upgrading your Training grounds, and paying 50% of the total amount back. You can find the protocol here: http://enetherlands.nl/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=12756.
What do you need to do to get this training contract?
The most important thing is to appoint a guarantor. The guarantor is a person who stands bail for the full amount of the loan. This means that if you don't give 50% of the total amount of money back to the state, the guarantor will do this. The guarantor needs to be a person who has got trust in you and must be trusted by the state to stand bail for the amount of money you need to pay back. So this has to be a person with a lot of money and he can't guarantee more than two people at the same time. When you have appointed a guarantor, you need to sign up for the contracts in this topic on the forum: http://enetherlands.nl/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=12758. The Ministry of Finance needs to know the total amount you require, which training contracts you want to upgrade, your profile link and any other information you think is important for them to know. The Ministry of Finance will contact you to get more information of your financial situation and of your guarantor and they will accept or deny your request.
If the state entrusted you with the money, you need to pay back 12,5 % of the total amount of money you have received a month. For example, you need 50 gold. You will get this 50 gold of the state. 50 % of the 50 gold, is a gift from the state. So you need to pay back the other 25 gold. You need to pay back this money with a minimum of 12,5 % of the total, so a minimum of 6,25 gold a month. A training contract has a maximum limit of 93,5 gold.
I hope this short article will give you some information about a way to upgrade your Training Grounds faster. Please read the Protocol for more detailed info about these Training Contracts:
http://enetherlands.nl/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=12756.
If you are interested in the debate about the creation of this Protocol:

And if you have any questions, please ask them! I can't answer them all, but there will be other people who can for sure.

Shame it's implemented this way as it won't work well. Players in need of gold for the TG will not safe a lot of gold after having bought it. And what they safe should be used to buy the TC after which they are able to train at full while saving a tiny bit of gold. Most likely less then is required to repay the debt. And even if it's enough they will be left for dead for months as they don't have the means to do anything besides training.
I think gold should be earned. Without the need to repay. For instance via the earlier proposed improved commune system that regrettably isn't being implemented. That makes it, on the long term administrative side, a lot easier as well.
tl;dr
tl;dr x2
Why? Maybe he has a point, I dont know the story behind it but it sounds good!
That goes a long way back AI. I'm afraid my way of looking at the game and analysing stuff isn't understood by some players so they simply ignore it or choose to state it's rubbish. That has caused me to quit all political related/depended actions for about 9 months now, These two players are a bit of a surprise however to respond this way as they have shown to understand at least some of it...
Don't take shit too serious Weekstrom wasn't means as being serious.
Also you starting about the commune system you proposed at every possibility is getting old. It wasn't implemented for whatever reason. Could you please move on instead of starting about it time and time again.
If there is a better way to support (new) players or its proven wrong I will Valeyard. And there's a lot more I could talk about when it comes to missed opportunities/improvements which I don't...
It doesn´t really matter how they get paid in the commune. Either the government sells the weapons and convert the cash into gold or the players do it themselves.
True. Problem I see all the time is players are tempted to fight. It's even promoted by gov the last couple of months. If you pay the players that are not fully training yet in gold (and in my proposal that was more than the weapons value due to the selling option to high level players) the chances are way bigger they will actually train at full quickly.
Well, it will be more work and the decisions are up to the players themselves. If you just give them the correct advise they can make educated choices. I'd rather have a weaker player who is not interested in maximizing their strength than a dead player who got bored of chasing those goals. Give them the right information and let them have a good time.
I'm sorry, but I don't understand it. This protocol is implemented as fast as possible to create a way to get the TG upgraded as fast as possible. Is it right to upgrade them as fast as possible?
I have never skipped one day of training since I started, and I get 21 strength a day. I can get much more strength a day when I upgrade my TG, so this training contracts is really needed for me. It is better than nothing.
I think it's right to up them fast. The problem I'm facing however, with fully upped TG and a TC is that I don't see an increasing gold amount. Repaying a loan therefore would be impossible. I think Weekstrom refers to that. I have the luxury not to have to pay gold back but if I would have needed to I shouldn't have been able to.
Like in RL; It's better to first work for something so you earn it than to get a loan and a dept as a result. I don't know the plan Weekstrom refers to but that sounds like something like aiding the possibilities to save yourself and therefore be able to buy TG/TC sooner. Sounds wiser than getting a loan to me.
Can't people currently rich or winning lot of bH due to their training create a fund for new players? This will help them get th gold and the state can pay for the weapons used to get BHs
Also an option. What I have been doing however is just help players I trust/know, especially the ones I invited in the game myself for instance, by just gift the gold to them. And ofc it often happens a player is in need of the last couple of gold bars and asks for it in a shout. Most of the time someone supplies the gold soon...
It seems that beefing up for military strength has become the only way to play the game…how one-dimensional. There should be more to the game…
precisely. Which is one of the main reasons for the proposal I made as that takes several factors into account.
I was in a rush earlier today, so I skimmed through the replies. But yes, some of the points you put fourth are spot on. From the game’s point of view, we have two options. The communist/fascist option where we join an MU, fight on a daily basis, and prosper a great deal more than if we’d venture towards the capitalist option and eke out a meager existence by selling products our companies produce at the lowest possible cost.
