Norwegian Congress - Voting Considered too Dangerous

56 people went to vote for the Norwegian Congress. A number which is small compared to the number of citizen. The Fennoscandian went on to search for the reasons of this result.

Jens S. from the Norwegian Institute of Norwegian Politics (NINP) explains "There are generally a few reasons why people do not vote. Some do not follow politics at all and hence have no idea what to vote for. Others are simply bored of bitch-fights and do not want to support them any longer".

As the political landscape of Norway remained rather silent the latter argument cannot be considered to be the cause of a result like this. The Fennoscandian hence went to do a survey in the biggest Norwegian cities.

The Russian Duma

Asked whether the citizen did vote for the congress, 60% replied with "We do have a congress this month?" while 30% replied with "Yes" and the remaining 10% could not remember due to being "severely drunken yesterday".

Dealing with the 60% who could exclude to have voted, in the congress elections the Fennoscandian asked for the reasons. These were the answers obtaine😛

"I know I should go and vote but there are so many parties and just one of them published a program which didn't suit my interests. So not knowing what I would vote, I decided to abstain." says a citizen from Kristiansand.

In Vestlandet the reasons were a bit different "Voting, yes, that's important. But a congress in Kristiansand? Come on, that's the ugliest city of Norway - well if you exclude Narvik, but as long as the Congress is not moved to Vestlandet, we are not going to vote for it" says the speaker of an initiative which calls itself "Bergen for Congress".

Some citizen of the areas rented to Russia replied "Voting is such an important decision. You literally can affect politics. That sounds too dangerous to me, I'd rather let it do the experts".

Trond R. from Longyearbyen says "Congress...so yeah Wasn't that this thing were the people sit and discuss to do nothing? That's where...ah Kristiansand? Where was that? 2300km to the south you say? But you sure know that Reykjavik and even Tallinn are closer?? By the way do you want to see that polar bear, we shot yesterday? It will sure give a more interesting article...."

Trond R. "Well here it was still alive"
