Norton for Queensland - Working for You

Day 1,217, 18:35 Published in Australia Australia by Lord TJ

Dear Citizens

In Queensland, after the January flood peak, our RL Premier proudly and rightly proclaimed, ".. we're made of tough stuff north of the border". In eRep, the same can be said.

As envisioned, the ill-fated 'Rebellion' was a complete waste of time and it brought down activity to unthinkably low levels. As your Senator, I will work with the Sir_c0nstant Administration to bring the Senate and the Government closer together - not divide our governing bodies and thus create a vacuum in the halls of power.

Domestic, Business and Military Policy

I support the base values of the party I am now a member of, along with many of my friends. Simplicity, low taxes, pro-business, pro-military, more citizen support - these are my watchwords and I will fight with every fibre of my being for the ideals of freedom and democracy to reach these ends. eAustralia is an industrious nation.

Foreign Policy

Our comrades fighting on the front are tireless soldiers in the fight to keep eAus free from tyranny and oppression. Yet, we cannot afford not to maintain and strengthen our bilateral alliances. Through diplomacy, we must also construct greater trading and MPP relationships with overseas e-nations. Trade is essential and leads to mutual economic and security benefit for all signatories to that effort.

Respect for the Opposition parties

The people of eAustralia delivered, in the February elections, a hung Senate. The majority party (ANP) were given a 20/40 balance of power. This was a clarion signal that the voters wanted to see greater transparency in the democratic process. That has to be respected.

I have respect for each and every party elected, as I do its members. If I am elected, I commit to doing everything in my power to bring the parties together in the Senate and break the log jam that challenges the humanity of the game - we are all eAustralians.

Government Supply

What is sure to be one of my most controversial, yet pragmatic statements thus far in this address, is the importance to grant basic supply - particularly financial supply - to the Executive of the day. Regardless of whether my party was in the eLodge or not, this is my consistent position throughout.

We, as an enation, must have a functioning Government and in our digital domain the power to legislate and deliver is with the people's elected legislators - the Senate. It has an important function in the budget approval process. It has the authority to question .. and so it should and must.

Delaying or attempting to delay these processes with partisan or personal attacks is reckless and irresponsible governance. At the end of that process, the Senate has a moral responsibility to ensure that the Government has a budget.

Thank you for your time and I ask for your vote at this Queensland Senate election.

Regards,
T J Norton
