My questions, their answers - CP Edition

Day 2,570, 21:54 Published in Canada Canada by Muglack

So I decided to dip my toe into the world of punditry for this election. I took about 4 minutes, thought up some questions that any monkey could answer and shot them off to the candidates. The following is there answers, and then I'll pick who gave the best answer and offer insights like only i can.

Question 1: Why do you want to be President?

Zianni: Mostly from a deeply buried insecurity about being inferior to all the people who I've played this game with. Which I need to satisfy by becoming an important role to prove to myself that I'm not actually useless.

Thedillpickl: Short answer is that I believe in Canada. I feel like I can improve on what we've already accomplished.

Punisher 1389: I believe I have something to contribute. Not noise, but concrete actions. I believe we have got to a point where we either get more people involved or we cease to be relevant in this game. Activity is weaning and unless we actively push our people to get involved eCanada is going to die off like most smaller nations.

My take: Punisher starts off strong, and then falls apart. The "point" he refers to happened the better part of two years ago. Dill's approach on building on what we have is great, but mostly rhetoric. I think maintaining the status quo at this point is a stretch, so expanding anything is pretty much impossible. It was also way to vague since he didn't bother to elaborate on which exact accomplishment he intends to build on Zianni at least is honest.

This round I think goes to Punisher. His answer was right, just not right now. It was also the "least wrong" of the 3 responses.

Question 2: What makes you think you deserve to be President?

Punisher 1389: No one deserves the Presidency. The President serves the people, not the other way around. If elected I will do my best to lead Canada and lead it by example.

Zianni: Nothing really, each candidate is pretty awful to be honest and that's the only reason I'm running. We've had a lot of strong leaders this year, but this month's entry is pretty depressing.

Thedillpickl: Absolutely nothing. No one "deserves" to be President. It is good to have some leadership and organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of foreign affairs would be important to have a grasp of what's going on. Other that those I have no other qualifications that come to mind.

My take: First let's be clear. Punisher and Dill are dead wrong. You can absolutely "deserve" to be President. Some guy who makes an account, and runs as soon as he meets the level requirement shouldn't win. He hasn't earned it, and certainly doesn't deserve it. You put in the time, you do the work, you make the friends, you establish the relationships, and you get your medal. Different people do it different ways, but in the end most of them deserve it. If you don't think you deserve to win, you shouldn't be anywhere near the ballot.

Zianni wins this one because the other two's responses were dismal.

Question 3: If you win the election what is the first thing you do when you login on the 6th?

Thedillpickl: Kick my cabinet in the ass to get them working on everything we've discussed on the 5th. #1, MoFA PM our allies and friends. #2, MoD PM LETO headquarters. #3, CP to look over any information passed on by my predecessor.

Punisher 1389: If elected my first action will be to reach out to the other side and show them that we can all work together for the betterment of Canada.

Zianni: Create a cabinet application process so I can get new players into the cabinet with experienced deputies. So we'll be very slow the first day until we actually get people in. Also I'll beg some past CPs for a standard procedure I can follow to make sure I'm fulfilling my duties, I really have no idea what obligations a CP has. (I.E. Communications, organization, and the like.)

My take: One candidate that didn't realize he won the election, one candidate that didn't realize they were in an election, and one candidate that actually plans to get on the first day and actually do the job they're all running for.

Thedillpickl takes this one by a landslide.

Question 4: What is your top priority should you be elected President?

Zianni: Destroying eChile, as well as the training of players for roles. I don't really care about getting new players, but getting the current players involved because that's the only way to enjoy the game.

Thedillpickl: Maintain our level of professionalism relating to our allies and friends. We are where we are at because of them.

Punisher 1389: Foreign Affairs, communication, and activity are the main focuses for me should i be elected. Those are the main jobs of any good CP.

My take: One "status quo" response, one vague answer about areas where things are done but not mentioning what exactly he had planned, and one shoot from the hip, balls out, Ryldian answer that I can't help but respect.

Zianni steals another one.

Question 5: What's one good reason why we should vote for the other guys?

Thedillpickl: Punisher has a good understanding of what is going on in the game as relates to Canada. He has the ability to use that understanding to determine the choices he feels would be appropriate.

Zianni is not personally known to me so all I can do is read his article like everyone else. He appears to favor klop (which is good), that's a big plus in my book.

Punisher 1389: Dill picked a good cabinet.
Since when is Zianni a serious candidate?

Zianni: Punisher has a good cabinet except for himself as CP. Dill is a hard worker.

My take: Thedillpickl gave the best answer. He didn't throw anyone under the bus, and politicked it just right. It wasn't my flavor, but the most popular ice cream is vanilla so what do I know?

Thedillpickl wins this round.

Question 6: You can tell a lot about a person by who they look up to. With that in mind who do you feel is eCanada's greatest President?

Punisher 1389: Well, it's really hard to pick just one, because there were few epic CP's imo. I admire what Addy Lawrence did, also Jacobi ( especially after we marched into London during his presidency),their ability to strategize well, Rylde and his ability to motivate people to get involved and participate for the greater good. It is not a coincidence that they have so many CP medals on their profile.

Thedillpickl: Now I will quickly admit I am waffling on this one. Rylde has to be the absolute hands down favorite when it comes to fighting a war. No finesse whatsoever but completely in the enemy's face. Jacobi appears to be a favorite from the past but I have no personal knowledge of him. TheSmoke performed smoothly last September and would do well in the future.

Zianni: Klop123_, all around great guy and very fun to work with. The man has a fantastic integrity and work ethic.

My take: Putting aside my personal feelings that Rylde is a terrible CP (Hitler vs. Churchill) it doesn't come as a surprise that he was chosen by two of the candidates. Punisher even went on to mention Addy and Jacobi sighting their numerous medals as being proof of the excellent job they did. I'd counter that by reminding him that Aeriala got two medals, so just because you have a few of them it doesn't really mean you did a good job. Zianni broke trail and went with eCanada's Lou Gehrig. Can't say he's wrong, but that doesn't make him right.

Since this was the only question that actually had right answers (three in total) I can't award this one to any of them.

So that's that. My foray into punditry is at an end for the month, or longer (probably longer). Hopefully this helped you decide where to cast your vote, and if nothing else, angered you enough to leave a comment in the comment section so that I can get one of the 3 "Get 25 comments" articles out of the way.

And in case you were wondering what the right answers were for the final question they were myself, Rolo and Homer -- in no particular order.
