Mexican Fallout: Uncle Sam's inappropriate (in)actions

Day 479, 08:46 Published in USA USA by Cromstar

Citizens,

You may not be aware of this, so I know bring it to your attention. Over the last few days, Congress has been discussing Uncle Sam's actions, and the decision has been made to bring articles of impeachment against Uncle Sam to a vote sometime today. Therefore, I will lay out the charges, facts, my own thoughts, and then ask you to give me your thoughts and opinions.

The charges: Proggypop laid out 3 charges he was leveling against Uncle Sam.

1. Failure of strategy in the Mexican War
2. Failure to consult and inform Congress in any form on a number of issues.
3. Failure to lead the nation, or indeed anything.

Now, I personally break them down differently. However, I will work from Proggy's original charges to discuss what has happened.

The Mexican War: Uncle Sam proposed the Mexican War to Congress, which we supported and voted for when he proposed the war in-game. It has subsequently been learned that he never informed ATLANTIS, and we have taken flak for it. Recently, Uncle Sam attempted to lay the blame on Congress for the Mexican War, claiming we brought it up. The truth is, Sam was planning war games with Mexico when the government was taken over, and he suggested that we could, instead of the by-then-defunct war games, invade Mexico to kick them out and move on from there. That was the last time Sam gave us any update on the Mexico situation. He never explained strategy, either before or afterwards, nor did he provide plans for the long-term goals in Mexico. Even worse, after opening up the three-front war that got Portugal involved, Sam eventually told Congress to butt out, because the JCS had been informed. So far, no one has confirmed this. Even worse, a number of military personnel, including the Quarter-Master General himself, have indicated that Sam stopped giving orders to the military and left them out to dry.

Communication: Sam refuses to tell Congress anything now. He stopped talking shortly after we invaded Mexico, and since returning yesterday, he has constantly said Congress is full of leaks and that we cannot be trusted with any sensitive information. This apparently includes information no longer sensitive, as he hasn't disclosed that either. Additionally, two British citizens (one of them the eUK Prime Minister) have indicated that Sam paid the 100 gold ATLANTIS fine to the UK in exchange for an MPP. Sam never consulted Congress about paying, never told us he did pay it, and still hasn't told us that he discussed and PAID for an MPP with the eUK. Congress should not have to find out about the President's actions from a foreign nation. Finally, since the war started, Congress has asked dozens of questions of Uncle Sam that still have not been answered. Frankly, he hasn't told us a single thing that we can verify as true.

Leadership: Military personnel have informed us that they never received instructions from their COs, because orders weren't coming down from the top. Congress has brought Sam up for impeachment, and he refuses to come back to the table and fix the problems we've brought up. The QMG and now Sam's own Vice-President have resigned. What this all boils down to is a failure on Sam's part to do anything. He's appealed to the public, but still won't talk to Congress. There is no leadership here at all.

Though I am saddened by these things, I do not wish to impeach Uncle Sam. However, as he has yet to actually defend himself, or correct his mistakes, I feel I have no choice but to remove him from office in order to put someone willing to at least try into office.

Please, citizens of PA, and the entire eUSA, give me your thoughts. Do you have confidence that Uncle Sam can fix this mess? Do you believe we have fairly judged him, and he has been found wanting? I am asking for your opinions, so that I may better inform my own.

Humbly yours,

Cromstar
PA Congressman
