Market Update [Day 1748] Losing Bonuses, Gaining Wealth
Jetsmets
Well, I had this whole nice article typed up then when I went to publish it eRep said "fuck you I' won't publish this super amazing article, I'll just delete it so nobody will ever see it in all its glory" so now I deliver a summed up version because I'm too pissed off to spend another hour writing an article. I haven't wrote an article for a week because I started school, got a job, and went to my Aunt's wedding. Now I'm back and articles should be out every 2 or 3 days. New PotUS CivilAnarchy is giving away all our regions. This is going to get all the TERRA/EDENites that are just here for our bonuses out of our country. It will also help the economy. There will be less supply of Food and Weps but the same or similar amount of people still buying items. Prices will go up, owners will make more money, people will get paid more. If you want America to succeed or you just want to get paid more, fight for America in all RW's. That's all for now. Check back soon for another Market Update.

Alternate hypothesis: Prices will not change much, but wages might. We have an international market. If product is more expensive here than in china, players take a day trip to china and buy there. However to produce at the world market price your unit cost has to remain constant. That means loss of bonus usually entails lower wage. Moreover, as price and cost are likely to remain unaffected, but sales volume is reduced, industrialists get less total profit. RESULT: less pay/profit
moreover, with fewer transactions in the domestic market you will have less revenue to the treasury.
Losing bonuses is not an economic benefit. It may have other benefits, which is what the government suggests.
It would increase the cost of living in eUSA for sure, but like Oliver said people with a basic knowledge of how to buy in different markets would take day trips to China or Brazil, but even still, the bonuses you are giving up still means you make more weapons and food than most other countries currently with communes in eUSA
My hypothesis is generally based around the fact that people are too ignorant/stupid to buy from other markets. While some of the smarter players will by the cheapest supplies, most will just stay in the USA and buy from here. I would agree with you oliver, but I think most players lack the basic knowledge/don't care enough to buy from cheaper countries at reduced rates.
